I dont like how it has changed. You used to be able to get a recruiter to easily recommend you to a hiring manager for an interview, and if you landed the role they would get paid a finders fee. Now, they want you to take a $2500 coaching class and there is no guarantee you get hired. It is absolutely ridiculous
I’ve been watching your videos as of this week. I have a manager level interview coming up this Thursday. Your content is exactly what I’ve been looking for in 20 years. Your energy is unmatched and your wisdom is God given. I will let you know what happens after my interview this Thursday!
You know what Andy I've learned allot from you! Been following you for more than 2 years. Just got promoted to Senior Portfolio manager managing 50 Mil in USD dedicated AUM. I don't know how to thank you but I know most are even better off than me are just silent. Just got transferred from Philippines to Australia because of your stuff and thanks again.
love it! here is mine using your framework I am a small business operations expert and I help CEOs translate their visions into actionable steps for their teams. I have been the right hand to the CEO for the past 4 years. At my last company I was the 2nd full-time hire where I scaled the team to 11 employees and I was responsible for managing the rocks and KPIs. My primary focus is partnering with purpose driven founders at small businesses with under 20 employees and around the $5 million revenue mark as those are the startup problems I love solving. As you can see from my resume [grouping something that best sells you and is relevant to the role]. I also have [noteworthy mention - whatever you want to call their attention to is what you end with].
I’m preparing for an interview. I totally revamped what I was going to say in my introduction. While I already submitted an introduction last week as part of a larger presentation, I’ll start with the verbiage consistent with your model and pull in the text from the slide in the “as you can see fro my resume section”. It will be a MUCH more impactful and relatable opening. Thank you
I enjoy your videos and they have transformed how I approach interviews. I was telling my daughter about them, she interviews student workers and she said "please send me the link, we need better interview questions, we Google interview questions 5 minutes before an interview." Your videos are helping so many people.
@@andylacivita hello Andrew I have been struggling with my CV, I find words like Reliable, Compassionate, Enthusiastic, empathetic, flexible, do I have to include these on my CV
How would you do this if you are interviewing for a change of career path? Most my experience is childcare, but looking to get out of that field. Would I still Introduce myself as an early childhood educator even if that's not the job position?
How you intro yourself should be more about where you’re going than where you’ve been. Are there elements of your background that apply going forward. Do you want to try to neutralize the terminology if you can. For example, if you are going towards some thing where you will continue to be training, educating, teaching or some thing of that elk, you would lean on skills you gained through education in childcare.
This misses the stay at home moms who are now re entering the job force... Hi I am ....... Ive spent the last 15 years juggling 6 schedules, managing the education of 4 kids and the household.
I’m not sure why you think it misses. Insert you’re returning to the workforce after being a stay at home parent etc etc. Just because I didn’t use your specific example, doesn’t mean you can’t insert that into any of these phrases.
Great video as always Andy. You are really doing a noble cause. I got 5-6 interviews in march-april but couldn't make it. Went thru some of your videos and reached out to them thanking for their time and stating why I believe I'm a great candidate and would be available to provide additional consideration if there is a role in their team or organization. Most of them replied saying thanks and they will let me know and keep in mind. Should I do anything now. Plz advise
Hi Andy, its been 3 weeks since I was interviewed. The interview went well and I followed-up with a thank you email and as per the advise in the video. However, I haven't heard back since then. Should I just wait or follow-up again. Regards, Vijay
Hi Andrew, Thank you for all the teachings and material you put out for all of us, even if we are not part of your camp. Unrelated Q: is that watch a Garmin EPIX or FENIX? How do you like it?
I'm a consultant (AVP) and I have to introduce myself in out next All-Hands. No many how many times I do it, I have to think about it beforehand. Love your channel!
These are always interesting but I struggle to adapt the ideas out of corporate worlds with many tangible accomplishments to human services-related positions
Hello, I started following your videos recently while in the midst of my own job search, and I was wondering if they are applicable to the defense industry (as opposed to the corporate world)? Is there anything in particular that I should do different as far as interviewing techniques, presentation, expectations, salary negotiation, etc?
Thank you! I'm getting ready for an internal interview, that is only 30 min because there are over 20 candidates. The hiring manager has interviewed me before (where he was not the hiring manager), and so I was looking for something different to clearly tell my story in 2 minutes or less, and set me a part. And as a bonus show him I have improved my interview skills.
If I have an employment gap, is it ok to put on my LinkedIn profile that I’m consulting? Even if I’m doing consulting on friendly basis with my church!
If you are actually consulting and it’s something you can speak to (give examples, tell stories, etc) then it’s okay. But, be prepared to answer questions related to how much consulting, is it full time, what’s your workload and so on. Good luck!
Andy!! I feel like "Boss B#%$# " after this video! Granted I will be sure not to relay this in my introduction but sure made me laugh this morning during my coffee!
