  • I had a slow oil leak that I notice to the bottom of my oil pan. The oil plug was not leaking and read it might be the VTEC solenoid gasket found in the oil filter housing. I drove around 150 miles and 4 days and found the leak was gone. If you have similar issues check this gasket. Hope this helps

    Hope that fixes it. If not it’s most likely the oil pump seal assuming your valve covers aren’t dripping. There’s also a sensor right behind the filter housing in the oil pump housing, it leaks and needs resealed with liquid thread sealer. The sensor and solenoid on the filter housing have O-rings, the sensor in the oil pump does not.

    update: changed out these seals last week, it definitely slowed the leak down a lot! doesn’t really drip but the pan seems to “sweat” and there’s small oil droplets at the bottom of the oil pan and on the subframe. so i’m assuming it’s either the back valve cover gasket or crank seal leaking now, or it may be just residue.

      Heard from an Acura forum that it could also be the oil pump o ring. I’m having a leak rn and it’s hard to pinpoint so fingers crossed it’s the oil filter housing.

      @@BlueStrike-ys4lb i actually had the knock sensor replaced last week, and they went ahead and resealed the oil pump and oil pan, it was a slow leak at the harmonic balancer, now it’s dry! i didn’t have to pay for the reseal since my engine has warranty work done by them.

      @@tr-nm5yv do you happen to know around how much it would be for a pump reseal? I’m a little scared to take my car to the mechanic and have to cough up a lot of money.

      @@BlueStrike-ys4lb yeah my biggest thing was how much the dealer would charge, even honda would be cheaper but not by much i bet, some dealers wanted $1600, some charge like 800, but typically they’re going by the book, so the hours are more for the book which means labor racks the parts up which the part isn’t even expensive. dealers say about 10 hours or so.. a lot of people finish it within like 4 hours or so. i’d take it to a good certified mechanic and or call around to see different prices. i cant see them charging like 1k

      @@tr-nm5yv yeah that’s what I was thinking. Bad thing is idk the condition of my timing belt, I can’t really spare to pay for that right now as I get laid off during the winter and don’t want to spend so much

    Hi! How many miles did your car have when you replaced that oil gasket ?

  • @tr-nm5yv

    how’s the oil still holding up? is it leaking again? I have a similar leak and i believe it’s the oil filter housing as well. the pump seals were already resealed in May.

      I changed the oil ever since I did the video and it’s dry still. I think that was the main issue

    Does the oil need to be drained before the repair?

    • @andee_james
      @andee_james  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, it does not. When you take out the filter gasket some oil will come out but not much.
