I’m not generally a follower of your videos (sorry🤪) but I watched every minute of this one. The way safari have conducted themselves is shocking and shows they actually know very little about actually tuning cars.
Any of the top tuning companies will tell you (and prove) that every car and setup is different and from one to the next will behave differently.
Good on you mate and bigger the clowns, it’s about time Australian companies learnt how to actually treat customers again...and they wonder why everyone buys Chinese.

Oh Safari. You've put your foot in it.
Threatening to rip a unit out because a customer put THEIR CAR on a competitors dyno? Jealousy isn't a good look.

I had a similar experience a while ago when I was looking at installing a gturbo. I'm not sure if it was just me but as soon as I mentioned Unichip they changed their tone and wrote if I installed a Unichip they would void the turbo warranty and continued on giving me a hard sell with a few paragraphs why Unichip is bad. The threatening tone of the email made me feel very uncomfortable getting involved caught in the middle of a competing company war, so I decided it was in everyone's best interests to look for a different turbo product. It was a real shame and disappointment as gturbo appear to make good products with turbos that make a lot of power. Power isn't everything and I would prefer customer service that I can respect.
I haven't installed a Unichip but to honest the only problem I have found is sometimes it is a pain to get them to return messages.
      Stay safe and good luck!

I do rather like the idea that if a chip fails in a remote location then according to many different sales people then it's a matter of unplugging it and returning the vehicle back to factory specs.

      @Australian4x4Adventures  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey buddy.
Yeah I’ve had it on the car for almost 3 months now and still loving it.
I generally run it on the towing map because it just feels the nicest for driving around home.
Smooth but still plenty of power.
The power map is amazing but only really use it when I feel like driving a little nuts or someone NEEDS to be overtaken right now 😂.
Offroad map is amazing. Didn’t like it to start with as the throttle was really soft and it took me a day to get use to it but now it’s great.
No jerky throttle and nice and smooth.
The immobilized map I use more then I thought. I park my car with the keys left in it all the time 😂.
So I put it to that map and I feel a little better about it.
The one map I don’t like and will prolly change is the eco map. Feel flat and I don’t like it.

A custom tune on a dyno, done by a professional of course, is always going to out do a generic tune. It will get your afr's correct and keep your car in safe parameters. I'm sure the safari is "safe", but its not exact to your car. All cars have slight differences and that's why you custom tune for best results. Sad they had to be like that over something you did for a bit of fun with Dash. That says a lot about them sadly.

Interesting video and I like your channel but it would be good to know how they got the additional power. As in, is it because the tune is more aggressive and thus riskier? Also, because safari made it hard to update the tune, we will never know if their tune for your mods would have netted similar power. Not your fault though. It could have been a positive story for them but it turned into a negative one, ironically due to them trying to protect their reputation.

I worked for a shop that was a unichip agent before Dynomotive took the license over.
It was as close to a nazi regime as you could get. If we had a faulty set of tuning pots, they would not even send a replacement pair until they had our pair back in their hands.
No sharing of knowledge from other shops, no access to diesel wiring schematics (as it was all dtronic owned)
Was literally a total waste of a product.
Dymototive send the product on a path to success when they took it over, but I think it could still be in a league of its own if a USA type open platform product was adopted and more people had access to this great product.

@@Australian4x4Adventures Cheers for the reply...Fyi... Im on your side BTW 👍
We got the answer to my above question, the reason why the Nissan Patrol 3l is able to push 190rwkw /800rwNm after a remap has something to do with the CRDs are balanced from Factory, have the DOHC setup 4val/pc.. and some other crazy stuff which too long to fill in here..but has been done. factory after the DI versions went to shit.
      Anyway keep up great work!

So the Safari dyno run was done on smaller tyres, which gives you higher dyno numbers, and still only made 25kw more?
Did it actually have a tune on it or was it an empty box? 🤣

What wrong with remapping through the Kess Ksuit method? You don't need a new ECU.

    • @Australian4x4Adventures
      @Australian4x4Adventures  4 ปีที่แล้ว

Nothing wrong with remapping for the main part.
      2 down sides but.
      1. It can come down to how good the tuner is. Which unichip falls into that bracket as well.
      2. It can’t be removed if you’re trouble shooting something. Or if Toyota reflash the car for an update it’s wiped.

@@Australian4x4Adventures So at the end of the day if you love spending money at Toyota and cant rationally diagnose the people with a good OB2 tool, then you should buy a Uni chip? I see the typical corolla driver is infectious indeed with in the 4X4 community. mmm

Sorry I’m a little confused by your comment.
Unichip / dynomotive is also a mechanical shop as well and do full services on all males and models.
You don’t need a unichip to be a customer of theirs.

Adrian you can use either method, both are valid. Chip vs remap, they both have their pros and cons. Why do you think the remap is better?
