    So i gave my old SAFARI ECU unit to my old man to put in his LC200 series.
    6 months of that and he hated it so we decided to put a UNICHIP into it instead and give you guys a genuine review from a NON youtuber.

    I love this channel because of the honesty.
    Your dad could have solved all his issues by simply selling the 200 and buying a 62😜

      @@kevinclay4189 you should watch a few TH-cam clips that compare a 200 and a 62 and I think you'll quickly find the fuel bill isn't so different, the up front cost however is another story and let's not forget the long term cost of that diesel 200 with all its "quirks"😜

    Lockup kits are one of the best mods imo when on the highway. I agree with your Dad it will hunt gears around 90km range. In my area we have 90km freeway and my 200 will go into 6th and engine Labour's. Other than that it's the best when cruising 100km to 110km. Definetly more economical aswell. My car weighs 3200kg and freeway economy is around 12.6 ltrs per 100km.

    • @Australian4x4Adventures
      @Australian4x4Adventures  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah I’ve got the same setup and find the same around 60-65km so most times I just knock it into Manuel mode and keep it in fourth around that speed.
      I haven’t noticed it doing it around the 90k mark but I did get it tweaked a little for how I wanted to drive it.

    I’m more than happy with my unichip but the one thing I HATE is the Bluetooth control thing, I’d much rather have the ability to control it manually & instantly from a control pad that they used to have on the dash, not sure it’s still a option but if it is I’ll definitely be changing (something I need to look into).

    • @Australian4x4Adventures
      @Australian4x4Adventures  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I tend to agree with you. The Bluetooth app is a bit glitchy and slow to use.
      They do still have a dash mounted switch and should be easy enough to fit. Just call them.

    Unbelievable difference between the 2 units. As for your Dad's "Flat out all the time" driving style, let's face it, If you're lucky enough to drive a 200 (some of us unfortunately aren't that lucky), then why wouldn't you. Gotta keep that oil pressure up - It's all about smiles per gallon. 👍

      Are sold in Vic. And I did there rar.

      Basically all torque converts in cars these days have a lock up clutch to make the drive from your motor through your transmission 1-1 ratio with out any slip, the car needs to be under the right conditions to this , the right speed, load, gear all of that stuff are monitored by the computer and when everything is right the lock up will be engaged, unfortunately Toyota did a very poor job at writing the computer program that controls this, a lock up kit is just someone going into the computer and changing the settings to make it stay locked up for longer creating better fuel economy
      How did I go there, anyone confused? Did I get it all right?

    • @Australian4x4Adventures
      @Australian4x4Adventures  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      A lockup kit helps the car lock into gears better. The factory settings on a 200 are absolute rubbish.
      It will let it get into sixth gear and help reduce fuel usage.
      As mentioned. For a more detailed version of that explanation then google it and there will be a great video explaining it better then I just did.
      I’ll be doing my own video in a little while based on my experience with it.

      It’s all about tune and air fuel ratios to keep an engine reliable.

    • @Australian4x4Adventures
      @Australian4x4Adventures  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No not really. As already mentioned it is all about air and fuel ratios and making sure nothing gets too hot. Unichip monitors coolant temps and pulls power out of the car if it does happen to be getting hot for what ever reason so there are safty guards put in place.

    • @Australian4x4Adventures
      @Australian4x4Adventures  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hahaha. Which is why it was mentioned.
      But it highlights a fault in their system. But not every installed puts the car on the dyno after installing, they don’t know if anything’s wrong or not.
      I have a feeling there was a fault with the install ( not the unit ) which was making the car almost de tune itself.

    You do realise the safari ecu is a motec m1??, without doubt the best ecu made.
    Simply all unichip done was increase fuel pressure and boost to levels safari wouldn’t for long term reliability reasons.

      @@mountainconstructions yep. Even the torque converter itself seems set up for an engine that needs to rev to get power. It’s as if Toyota set the gearbox up for a high revving 4 cylinder and never reprogrammed it for the Landcruiser. Or perhaps more accurately, like they set it up for the V8 petrol and didn’t bother changing it to suit the V8 diesel. In any even, it is dreadful.

    That sounds like rubbish. I have the Safari product and mine puts out 850nm! Please explain why such a difference!

    • @Australian4x4Adventures
      @Australian4x4Adventures  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      There are a lot of variables.
      Temp
      Dyno
      Settings
      Rear wheel dyno
      4 wheel dyno
      Hub dyno.
      How tight they strap the car down
      There are so many variables it’s not funny.
      This is why I always film the same car on the same dyno on the same day ti eliminate a lot of those variables.
      Most dynos only really show a relative gain.
      So one dyno could do the car going from 100kws to 150 kws. 50% gain
      And another could so it from 80 to 120kw. Both are a 50% gain.
      The final figures could be the difference in settings or that it was done in 2wd instead of 4.
      In regards to safari gear. They trick the figures to make it look high but the powers all in the wrong spot and the amount of boost they were running was insane in my opinion
