I don't have a significant other so this does not apply but If I go silent with friends or family is because I am busy doing a bunch of stuff and need the time to stay away from social media or on the phone or texting. There are no games with my silence. I'm just too busy at times and need to concentrate and not be dealing with having contact in any form.

I love all these negative comments concerning Matthews advice. Obviously you know what you’re doing with men- so why are you here? Just to be petty? Some of us NEED this advice and guidance because of the toxic or dangerous examples of men we had in our childhood. Unless you’re lucky enough to have a change come into your life, you repeat this pattern. Therapy is essential if you survived abuse and/or violence. How long do you wait to text a guy? This guy I’ve known forever came back to me after a year. He texts me and I text him back, I wait like five minutes. But we can text and text, then he suddenly stops texting back, waits two or three days then texts me back. I don’t want to play that game but I want him to miss me or wonder a bit. So how long should I wait?

It's a 5:1 ratio... there should be at least 5x as much positive interactions as negative. That's what science has shown will make sure you don't breakup. You don't have to be positive all the time... nobody is and you don't have to be.
