I remember telling this to Katie... I remember my body having conversations while dissociated, but I hardly remember what was coming out of my mouth. "Blips" like Diane said. It almost feels like an out-of-body experience where I see/feel myself "checking out" from the moment, mentally, yet my body remains in the situation, while still attempting to engage, defend, and respond to the overwhelming event. To this day, dissociation induces a lot of shame and regret for me, yet my biggest dissociative triggers are when I am being belittled/shamed or made to regret speaking up/defending myself. Dissociative states are such a convoluted and loaded topic. Thanks for addressing it. ALSO... I find it interesting that you went for Freud's structure of the Psyche rather than Jung's ;)
