- The Samsung S24 Ultra comes with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 so, is it better or worse than the S23 Ultra of last year in thermal management and performance.
In this video I will compare the A17 Pro chip in the 15 Pro Max vs the Snapdragon 8Gen3 For Galaxy in the S24 Ultra vs Tensor G3 in the Pixel 8 Pro.
The test includes 4 heavy tasks that each flagship to run simultaneously for 30 minutes to see which one will survive and takes the win.

We will like to see the S24+ exynos alongside the S24u and S23u in the stress test
That’s what I want to see! Please
Yes pls
the Exynos will be dead lol
Exynos will spontaneously burst into flames 😅
Thissssss
For the first time Samsung taking an L in this test...
This is why Oppo, Xiaomi, and OnePlus are the new Big 3 over Samsung, Apple, and Google. They'd never fail this high stress test like the old Big 3.
@@phothewin6019bro what😭 the brands you mentioned would probably do even worse tbh. they lack the optimization and usually come with cheap parts
@@manolakios Trust me, the new 3 Kings will shock the tech world this year. Come back to my comment in December when all of the Smartphone 2024 Awards videos are released.

@@phothewin6019Naah, i had oneplus phone before s23 ultra.
The struggle with these devices is upgrades. Samsung give out monthly upgrades
You totally reached their limits! Good job as always!
Please don't ever leave your unbiased and good reviews.
It's actually biased, he choose the environment what is prefer the Android phones.. since Android phones have 4 power cores and iPhone have just 2.. so on Android all of the task can get a power core, but on iPhone it's just half of the tasks.. what is if not a biased environment? By the way on iPhone there is a way to increse the performance with low power mode, with that all tasks running on the efficiency cores (so all 4 task get the same type of core, just like on Android, the only downside for that, it's also limit the fps to 60, but none of this tasks required the 120Hz/120fps since the game itself and the other stuffs are already limited to 60fps)
@TamasKiss-yk4st the IPhone is worse in hardware => it's worse in software. He's not biased, you are.
@@TamasKiss-yk4stthey are all in the same environment. How is it biased ??
@@TamasKiss-yk4st cant think of many real life scenarios where this difference wouldnt matter anyways. You're not always going to do what your hardware is more optimized for, and more cores is almost always better.
It's apples fault for giving 2 core @@TamasKiss-yk4st
Real appreciations for your efforts ,
This is how tests should look like and be done
Thanks again
I hope they fix the s24 ultra with an update
Isn't a problem💀,if you try that in the next test that window will never showed again

You are I guess the only "unbiased" reviewer I have ever watched. Firstly, other reviewers don't do such kinds of tests, and if they at all do, surprisingly, their iPhones almost always come out as "better" than every other phone. You show the real picture here to all the deluded people who think iPhones are the best. Sure, buying a phone depends on your needs and usabilty and all phones are capable, just as the iPhone. In fact there are areas where other phones like the Pixel shines brighter than the iPhone. Kudos to you!
So when the iPhone isnt better its "unbiased" ?
@@workingjoe2196 yea thats how they think bro lmao. If the Iphone wins ANTYHING the youtuber is bias every time lmao, these ppl in these comments crack me up
lmao bro do u have something against Iphone???
@@doboy930 no I do not have anything against iPhones. I have one iPhone and one Pixel. And I said that based on my experience. If you can't see what's going on with other youtubers, then I'm sorry to burst your bubble.
@@anshudipkarn i've watched plenty of these kinds of videos from all kinds of TH-camrs and sometimes the iPhone win and sometimes it doesn't and they all do the tests the same way with a split screen. How can u be biased video recording all the phones and showing the ppl the info?? lmao. Bias is based off of opinion, a recorded video with results is not an opinion. So i literally have no idea what you're talking about
Thanks for doing these tests on mobile data. Doing the tests on Wifi never tells the real picture and knowing what a phone can do outside of WiFi is more important.
Exactly
Nobody is playing games doing video calls and pip on mobile data though. Gotta be realistic
@@DiGz_Au Here in India literally everyone uses mobile data Because its the cheapest in the world. Most of homes don't have wifi.
@naumankhan422 I mean everywhere else in the world is not like that which means testing on data is not ideal. Literally buy a dongle with a sim and connect to wifi. So simple, 4g 5g is very very different in each location let alone each country.
@@DiGz_Au Yeah thats why for India 5g standby is more important and we are more interested in that. Especially considering 5g modem for snapdragon and Exynos version is different and this is a area of potential variance.
Battery on my s24 ultra is much better than s23 ultra,i think the chip will improve with updates. 15 pro max chip took a few updates to improve anything
Hmm i have both and thermal limit is too high !
@@Audiohobbytojestto The 24 Ultra has done really well with recent battery tests out there.
I think there isn't much wrong with how Samsung handles their thermal management. We all know heat is dangerous for the battery and processor. The 8pro is always the hottest. I hope it won't be an issue after a few years. Where the battery amd processor has taken significant damage due to the heat
Samsung stops their phone from getting too hot a bit earlier by shutting down background tasks.
I'd say it's good.
Plus point is the game is still playable with decent brightness, unlike the iphone.
@@geckoxs1071it's obvious that you are a Samsung fanboy, you managed to hate on two different phones to make ur favourite brand look the best, the pixel was just a degree hotter and it managed to handle the test for much longer, while the iPhone was cooler, is 46 and 47 far apart from each other?
@@geckoxs1071I agree that crashing isn’t a bad option in a situation like this, but it isn’t the best option, I’m sure with updates they will figure out a different way to handle these extreme test
When I had the 15 Pro Max, the screen would dim like crazy when it got hot. All that power is useless if it can't sustain. And now I'm happy with my Pixel 8 Pro.
For Gaming is Nubia or Asus 🎉
You may have given up your device too early as those problems got fixed
Same. I saw a gaming test where it ran Tower of Fantasy pretty flawlessly on the heaviest areas, but when I tried it myself with a brand new, updated 15 Pro Max, it started heating like crazy after 10 min of gameplay in the first area. The screen dimmed and FPS dropped noticeably.
Then I learned that the gaming test I watched was a bit disingenuous because the reviewer was using additional things to help the 15 Pro Max run better by preventing the dimming and FPS drops.
Great choice
My 8 pro already had its temp sensor lens fall out
Nice to see comparison between the flagships .
thank you
The fact that pixel almost sustained playable performance untill the end suprised me
Me too cause my pixel sucks
pixel 8 is different, but yeah the rest are ass @@brandonsmith6962
Tensor G3 ability so underrated because of stats specs
You should do this once again after few updates received by s24U. Cause it's the 1st release software and they might need time to iron out the optimisation based on user feedbacks.
it amazes me that Samsung is like Apple now, they need to do long year of updates to make things work lol while other brands are just fine day one if we speak about performance.
That is not true lmao the hell you mean ? Most of the have beta updates and depending on how many phones uses this OS it's harder to optimize @@ThereIsOnlyOneRandom
@@ThereIsOnlyOneRandom yea but those other companies get like 1 update per year and 2-3 years of software support while samsung, Google, and Apple have up to 7 years of software support
@@firstclass000 Xiaomi just has extended to 4-5 years too, and the best photo phone Oppo find x7 also 5 years, and these phones performs better than s24 ultra day one lol pure copium, don't be a blind fool, i'm a iphone user but I don't 💩 on other brands knowing that they're better, Samsung becomes blindly a garbage like Apple, and it's expensive one.

Top-notch TH-cam channel! Your content is fantastic, brother.
The real comparison I was looking for. 👌
your test is a heavy one indeed and the P8P surprised me tbh. however, I'm wondering besides the two other factors, what could the screen sharing score determine?
You are singlehandedly changing the narrative about Tensor G3

That over heating crap
that overheating crap outperformed other 2 phones🤣@@wrench_in
The best channel for performance comparisons. Great video as usual 🔥
i would like to see a similar test, playing a heavy game, could be genshin, but not particular about the game itself. while playing the game, it could also be connected to discord live streaming, while also screen recording. alternatively, it could just be connected to voice chat on discord while screen recording. this is a quite common setup that people do mobile gaming, where they may be coordinating on voice chat, while gaming, and while screen recording or streaming live. i would be interested to see how long each phone can sustain performance streaming & in game before throttling, and ofc temperatures throughout. it would be cool to see the s23 ultra, vs s24 ultra, vs iphone 15 promax.
I think I made the right decision and got the S23 Ultra at the last minute. The trade-in value for my crappy 6 Pro was irresistible honesty. Thanks for the video!
Could be a shrewd move 8 gen 2 is proven to be a great soc
S24 series still hasn't gott any update. After receiving a couple of updates then things will be changed surely.
possible for software to offer some small improvement, but not certain. the sd8 gen 3 has less efficiency cores, it has higher power consumption per watt than the 8 gen 2. in other words, the snapdragon 8 gen 3 is unavoidably less efficient than the 8 gen 2, at a fundamental hardware level. it will unavoidably run hotter and throttle more / sooner, regardless of software. samsung may apply software to both similarly, this could worsen the performance of the 8 gen 2, but it cannot improve the 8 gen 3 efficiency beyond that of the 8 gen 2. i never buy devices on pre-order / launch. i wait until they have been out at least 6 months, if not a year. not only does samsung offer better deals and trade ins 6 months after launch, but by that time, i have a good idea of the actual performance & possible issues, from many sources. the s23 ultra proved itself as a solid, efficient, and well rounded device without any major flaws in 2023. i won't be upgrading to an s24 ultra, i will keep my s23 ultra until there is another big improvement with the next ultra, perhaps in 2025, but i can wait if the s25 ultra is not exceptional.
@@ensom Nah, the 8 gen 3 is only less efficient at its peak performance. Under lighter loads where 8gen 2 and gen 3 perform similarly, the 8 gen 3 is actually more efficient. Even at 8 gen 2's peak performance levels, the 8 gen 3 is more efficient.
Why not get 24 ultra
Unique video...likes and love from Australia...
Agreed that taking the latest CPU is not the always best option. Lesson learned when I hastily bought a phone with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 only to get stuck with battery issues until I got my S22 Ultra. Guess I'll be using that for a little longer
I could NOT get rid of that phone fast enough. Had to charge it 2-3 times a day. Was about as bad as Tensor 1
Am stuck with s22 U bcz i dont have money to upgrade it
Was a big mistake to buy it.
Battery is the worst part everything else is okay and annoying to charge 3 times per day and with 45W charger it takes long
Which is funny because it often gets flak for bad battery/heating issues. Both things I never experienced with my S22 Ultra. And I did a lot of gaming on it.
@@PixelPerInch33 If you're a heavy user that could be the case. In my case, my screen time is 4 to 6 hrs per day and I have do 1 charge per day. I also have battery protect to limit the charging at 85% and then I charge it once it dips to around 25%.
idk if you realised it but with s23 was similar story lol
Wow...didnt expect that from Samsung. Plz do check it again once it's out around 2 or 3 months (u know getting its updates and so on)
really love your videos
Now we are waiting for a test on smartphones with a 6.1-inch screen, such as Samsung s23 vs iphone 15 pro vs pixel 8 vs Xiaomi 13, good job, good luck, thank you.❤
Would be interesting to see if you did these tests with the lower resolution, wonder if the screen share would perform better?
Probably it didn't mentioned about the software update of s24 incoming so it's all about the initial raw performance itself rather than the exact real performance of the phone. How if you rewind these tests and see if there will be a major change just like from the S23's 😌
This is a great stress test. Thank you for being so thorough in your videos.
Do you happen to plan a test with the OnePlus 12 as well ?
That duo #%*+{-; % vapour chamber would crush every other phone except the rog with fan or the redmagic with active fans.
I started following your channel recently and am quite impressed by your content and honestly by the result of this test.
Keep up the good work!
Would love to hear your thoughts on OnePlus 12.
Thank you
Nice test.. but maybe you must test the s23ultra with them.. ❤
Samsung fanboys will say it's fake test , bcz they cannot face this pain😂
I'm shocked 😲
Please 🙏 try again after the new firmware comes out, as it has been mentioned that the release build does have some thermal throttling issues, but that is normally at 42°C on gaming benchmarks and not in real-world testing like yours.
I've been looking forward to this video 😅
What is the software version of 24u, pre-release or full-release?
YOU NEVER DISAPPOINT US!!! REALLY GOOD REVIEW
Fantastic content as always. Can you do one with the OnePlus 12 as well? And maybe other less popular phone like Nothing and Vivo and Xiaomi and others?
This channel deserves more acolades than we give it... This is the closest to real life usage performance test that we get to sew the real peeformance of these devices off the book...
Love that intro music lol. I mean, it's not a very practical test but it does push them to the limits. Personally I've never had any issues gaming on my 15 Pro Max but I don't screen share and stream PIP at the same time haha. Also nice to see that the iPhone was the most power efficient by a longshot.
These tests are always interesting!
I wonder how much better (if at all) the S24U would perform with light performance mode? The peak performance hit will likely be worth it for the additional stability in a test like this.
It is an interesting perspective to compare phone performance this way.
Got a new subscriber
Thank you for the review! I am also curios about exynos on S24.
Now I know not to upgrade to S24 ultra from S23 Ultra LOL
We will appreciate it a lot if you make another similar test right after S24 Ultra receives its next major update.
can you do the same test with the exynos on a s24 or s24 + please
I saw a youtube video comparing the thermal throttling temperatures of the newly released S24s and it was established that the S24 Ultra began throttling/aggressively cooling down the phone at 44°C,,that was it's limiting performance temperature, presumably so as to avoid early complaints of the phone overheating during gameplay as was the case with the early launch of the 15PM...optimally they could take this limit higher but I guess for now its just a case of not wanting any dirt to be laid on them so early..I guess we'll just have to wait n see if they expland their limits in future updates..
Now instead of that they have got early complaints about the camera
Emad I managed to see the hidden temp readings of tpu, cpu, GPU and screen via ADB it seems on pixel 7 the temp between battery and SoC are having +10C difference. Ran a sustained Mlperf performance benchmark and SoC reached max of 70c but i didn't see thermal warning
Could you do this test using the base model s23? It would be super interesting to see how it does.
In my personal experience since I own a 14 pro max, I have played everything from genshin impact to asphalt when I bought it, I never experienced any drastic fps drop or lag, but the device did get warm, thats about it.
Does someone knows if has GOS disabled on Samsung or if the alternative mode perfromance to be enabled?
System cooling is verry bad ! Go and check Nubia 9 pro temperature on 3mark tests and stability of 20 loops ! 58C and more ! To stable max performance of this chip . S24 Ultra never can perform that is non a gaming phone ! Cooling fan is required!!
Can you also add OnePlus 12 to these tests? As the company is claiming there device heat endurance is better due to better internals. Thanks
Sir plz do repeat these tests all time after a new update releases plz ❤
Even though they all fail the pixel 8 Pro did the best overall. So much for those other TH-camrs saying it had a thermal issue. I've had mine since release and mine has never gotten hot once.
thats a very taxing workload test, I like it and it has the needs of stress pushing these SoCs and the phone as a whole themselves!
i was wanting for your video before buying the s24 ultra
thank you for your unbiased review
i hope you retain your integrity forever unlike the other youtubers
Would be better if you have S24+ with Exynos in the test
Recent manufactured flagships nowadays seem to be focused on performance instead of effeciency
Awesome test! Can we try 2 hours just to see how they all hang?
The best performance test! Much better then raw benchmark ❤
I will wait for s24 software optimization, the chipset is new
Im thinking of getting one of these phone but i dont know which one to get can someone help me choose
Wow. What a surprising review. It unveils the true about S24U and IP15ProMax. Very powerful chips but face overheating issues. Hemce Samsung massive vapour chamber. Apple tweaked its chips by SW updates but it cannot hide the core of the problem. We have to wait until the next year when TSMC improves its 3nm lithography.
So it looks like snapdragon 8 gen 2 is the sweetspot for this workload test
It's surprising how Apple is now improving their battery life 😮
can you add s24 or s24+ to this test? I want to see how the Exynos 2400 performs
Just like how some early gaming and benchmark tests have shown, it seems like Samsung bottlenecked the temperature thresholds of the S24 Ultra at lower temperatures. So it has lower sustainability of high stress performance than the S23 Ultra.
Will this be something Samsung "fixes" with an update? Doubt it, but everyone disappointed about this should send them feedback for the small chance that they listen.
Samsung will find out and fix it if they are able to.
Is it possible to include OnePlus 12 this time?
2:45 The iphone be like: please let me breathe for a moment 🥵
Please do this test between s22 ultra, s23 ultra and s24 ultra
Thanks for the great test, as usual! It would be amazing if you could also test OnePlus 12!
I was thinking this too😂😂
This is why i never believed in synthetic benchmarks, especially crapbench 6.
How much did Apple and Google payed youtubers to promote their products. It's sad we can't have an unbiased review and comparisons anymore
For what it's worth, TH-cam pauses picture in picture on my iPhone XR, randomly, even without any heavy usage at all, so I'm not sure it's due to workload management, and not just youtube screwing with us (wouldn't be the first time). Maybe try Twitch for PiP.
Happy to see the improved battery optimization and performance on the S24 Ultra!
Interesting. It looks like Apple has the most work to do with thermals. That was lagging like crazy.
This makes me confirm my decision to keep my s23 ultra. That dark non reflective glass I'd awesome though
It comes at a cost. The colors are more washed out.
Que bueno que sigues trayendo este tipo de videos
Pls do stress test between s23u n s24u. It will be epic n glorious to see.
Please make a full comparison between s23U and s24U...performance and battery life at main aspect
When I saw the Galaxy unpacked event, I swore not to recommend the s24 series, and now I have definitive proof to support this position.
Because of a game? Lol you must have lots of time on your hands to be playing games that long to see an effect 😅
@@daniilvoshev8074l mean right. Why would you spend that much time on your phone just for games. Don't you do other stuff with it too
So, You did this test on the beta firmware without getting the s24U update ? Useless. Re-do after.
I tried the multi window youtube while playing asphalt in my s24 ultra. I played for 2hours . There was no crash
Could this be software related for S24 ULTRA? Theoretically Snapdragon 8 gen 3 should have been more efficient than the 8 gen 2 of S23 Ultra.
Want to see how the exynos 2400 on s24+ perform in this test 🌝
Best mobile tech youtuber❤
Can you add a dimensity flagaship processor phone to the heavy workload test. Please
I want to see apple really step up with the software. Optimizing things like it used to.
I appreciate the quality of the video but I would like to see a more realistic workload. Obviously a phone doesn’t have a fan (except for the gaming ones) so pushing it on extremes workloads just seems pointless to me. It’s interesting to see the how they handle the situation though but none of these phones are designed for that.
Maybe something like e30 min 4k HDR or things that the phone could be used for.
At the end of the day, the more powerful these phones become the more challenging it will be to keep the temperatures down. Even though we've been promised more power with better thermal management, the reality is we are not quite there yet.
Please add from this test S24 Plus. First reviews of Exynos 2400 really good. I want to see your comprasion video before buying S24 Ultra or S24 Plus. I will choose after watching your video. Please add S24 Plus
Do the test again after the software update
Really surprised Pixel 8 Pro was not struggling at the 4:23 part of the video!
A similar Oneplus 12 test please 🤩
This is strange. My phone has a weaker processor, and if you continue playing for a long time, it can overheat 50° Without the high temperature warning showing, I have Helio G95
I like this test 🙏🙏🙏
Samsung leaving an update very shortly for S24 series to fix performance, camera and thermal issues. After that you can do this test again to see any performance difference, since S23 ultra passed this test.
I have noticed Snapdragon chips heat up very quickly and thats annoying. Doesnt Qualcomm not know how to make their chips cool down efficiently 🤨. Theyre powerful and yet also eat alot of battery (Qualcomm snapdragon chips)
u should add screen recording too haha
I mean it's too early of a test you have to wait for more software updates
What i have noticed is that these phones have different regulatory systems. So depending on the time they close the apps comes down to the regulation. Whats the point in having more time when the phone is completely unresponsive. Apple did a pretty good job managing the heat.
The S24 Ultra also has better cooling than S23 Ultra so I still think it s beta software that made it perform bad
yet it overheated regardless , go figure .
