You can see it’s 206 lineage but it’s not as pretty as a 206. I suspect that there are some performance improvements. After decades of working on other helicopters I’ve recently done some work on Jet Rangers and Long Rangers and they have with stood the test of time well. 16,000 to 22,000 hours and still chugging along, looking good and paid for over and over. Maybe the 505 will be the same.
In my opinion, all Bell helicopters are outstanding. However, the best design lineage of all is that on the likes of 412; 212; 205; UH1 huey; UH1Y and the 214 as well. They all have a similar mainframe then they differ jst slightly by th shapes of their noses, engine layout, number of main rotor blades, tailrotor side, tail boom (on the 214 and on th UH1Y). Otherwise the mainframe looks the same.
I don't really get the designe-decissions, Bell made here. Why the semi-rigid, two bladed rotor system? Why not a fully articulated or even a hingeless, three bladed rotor system? Why no on condition maintainance for so many parts? Seems like many designe decisions from the 60s are inherited from the 206 which, I think, do the 505 no good...

I can't wait to buy a brand new 505 when I cash out my huge crypto windfall. I'm going to use one of these birds to fly between the Hawaiian islands.
