    The SEALs selected the G19 as their sidearm to replace their old Sig P226s. They could have selected any handgun in the world. If they chose it, there has to be a good reason.

    After spending unbelievable amounts of money on "better" pistols over the last few years, I've circled back to the G19 again. I haven't figured out what "better" actually means.

    • @RepentorPerish77
      @RepentorPerish77 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Pistols that out of the box give you what you’re looking for without dumping hundreds of more dollars to upgrade your Glock to get what they offer from the factory? Example the P10C

    • @jcoolG192
      @jcoolG192 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      @@RepentorPerish77 $74 for sights. Nothing else needed. I do that with most pistols anyway.
      P10C is pretty good. I'd probably put it in my top 5, maybe top 3, but it's not better to me. Still had to swap sights. Decent trigger with a little creep. Grip is comfortable in the hand, but I prefer the 19.5 when actually shooting. I'd choose the M&P 2.0 Compact with the newer trigger over the P10C though.
      When you say better, you should define what better means to you. There are a lot of good pistols out there. Mechanically, they are all so similar, and it's preferences that we describe as "better". I haven't owned or shot them all, but I've owned and shot enough to know what works best for me. I've found a lot of similarities, and a lot of differences. Those differences haven't added up to better.

    • @Osprey1994
      @Osprey1994 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @DemocratsPartyofsatan I have a P10F, and I never use it. I still use the 19.5 from time to time. P10F sights also need to be replaced. Grip texture is meh, and the slide release needs to be swapped as it's inconsistent even after quite a bit of dry firing.
      The P365 replaced my G19 (although it's similarly sized at this point) for a number of reasons. As for the pistol that I take to competitions or classes that aren't CCW classes, it's the PDP. Why? Strictly because I didn't have to have it milled, and I couldn't find a M&P in my state that was optics ready (Smith was useless at helping me find the SKU for limited versions of their pistols which I know exist).

    • @RepentorPerish77

    The RTF2 grip texture was the only GLOCK texturing that provided significant grip, but had a tendency to wear through clothing when carrying concealed. GLOCK should use RTF2 on at least the front and backstraps to enhance grip on the gun. I haven’t noticed any meaningful improvement in accuracy with the new barrels, but I’ve owned several GLOCKs that were very accurate at 25 yards. The slide beveling and finish on the Gen 5 guns are nice enhancements. I’m in the minority as I don’t think the new trigger system makes much difference, but I’ve been shooting GLOCKs for years and have less complaints about the trigger than most. I like the G19, but I think the G26 is a more versatile gun.

    I have medium hands for man and Glock 19 feels like it is glued to my hand. This gun is good concealed carry gun. It is light, extremely reliable, durable (-factory sights are plastic), has a safe trigger and plenty of aftermarket parts if you need to tune it or get it fixed. If you own two different Glocks you can switch part like slides or something if needed and that is fun! As a gun is nothing new or spectacular but overall it is jack of all trades and maybe best on that still. Sure you can get overall better guns like CZ Shadow 2 compact, but in some ways Glock 19 wins in few categories. I own them both and use them both.
    If you buy the Glock 19 then buy the treaded barrel version for silencers (B&T longer silencer will make this gun beam with subsonics because of low recoil). I have no experience on compensators on pistols, but i have heard they work. Big can on front of 9 mm will work way better. I cannot see how ports of anything can compare to it. It will be long and hard to hide that in you appendix holster and say that is just my penis.

    • @Resident-cb3yz
      @Resident-cb3yz 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      We all can agree one thing. Really plastic on 2024? Even the white dot is on front sight is not in the middle on two of my Gen 5 pistols. The sights are crap. Even in G44 what i own too. Magazine release is poor with all hand sizes and you have to break you grip to use it fast. Then on the grip. They made a spot to hold your grip hand thumb and it is literally crap to anyone to use. When you hold your thumb there it will make more space to gun just to wiggle in your hand. If you are right handed your right thumb must be more up and not down. One handed or two handed shooting. After this rage i will go and sand the shit out from Glock 19, 17 and 44.

    I love mine. It fits my tiny little Portuguese/Chinese hands perfectly without the extra backstrap. I would not choose it for concealed carry. I love it for a nightstand or open carry but I do like an external thumb safety on a concealed carry semi automatic weapon. I have never had anything interfere with my trigger during reholstering but I have only had to reholster under stress once. I don’t want to have a lapse under stress and Glock myself. For concealed carry I prefer my 1911 or my LC9-s depending on weather/dress/activity.

    The Glock platform is indisputably a top-caliber firearm for duty, military, and special operations. I have used only the Glock as a duty pistol for several years. However, I have heard many reputable gun reviewers boast of many compelling and impressive features offered by other manufacturers. In particular, I am referring to Walther Arms. After recently comparing its trigger to those of the standard Glock (non-completion trigger) and Springfield Armory Echelon, I was flabbergasted. For me, trigger characteristics are key. The Walther Arms PDP Pro SD really impressed me. Also, it is MOS ready, which is also a key selling point, as I won't have to pay to have my Glock's slide milled to accommodate my RDS. I would not use the PDP Pro SD for special operations or military combat, so I am certain that its reliability is unassailable.

    Comparing with a Beretta PX4 Storm full size. The Beretta is crafted with a contoured grip. When the magazine is fully seated and snaps into place it fits snug. No need for a mag well extension or a grip plug either! 😁 The PX4 Storm has plenty of room for your trigger finger. The Glock has to be gripped exactly right and my trigger finger tip touches the bottom of the trigger guard. I see there are companies that make cuts in the trigger guard for a better grip on the Glock. Glock has a huge aftermarket for "stuff" and Beretta has LTT.

    The Glock in my humble opinion is the best at something and that is reliability. Sure it is plain and the design hasn't really changed much on any of their firearms but it doesn't need to change because it works and works every time you pull the trigger for the most part. I am carrying the Glock 19 Gen 5 at the moment and because it is my everyday carry, I didn't do any modifications to it whatsoever because the gun works and I don't want to compromise the integrity or reliability of it by tricking it out like so many people seem to do these days.

    I actually like the Glock 19 for how compact it is. It's neither too small nor too large for anyone's hands. Kinda like how I like the MK18 CQBR for being a nicely-sized carbine that's neither too lengthy nor too short for a rifle. In fact, I'm currently writing a novella about a young former Army Ranger who becomes a vigilante and his trademark weapons are the Glock 19 and eventually the MK18. I took inspirations from The Punisher and Fallout: New Vegas to write the story.

    You cover all the points that I usually hit. I don't shoot Glock often, but if you are going around saying you need to change everything on a Glock to make it function, you just can't shoot. It's kinda the same problem I find with people who say that small guns like the P365 are to small, yes I understand if you have big hands it might be tough but ol gran pappy Hickok manages while also being nearly as old as the 2nd Amendment (love him or hate him, his content is relaxing).
    If you don't like plastic Glock sights, buy the factory Ameriglo version. But it makes sense to at least have a G19 in your quiver.

      I agree 100%. I have a gen 5 19, and a gen 3 17...both completely stock. There's not a thing that needs modding on either, as far as I'm concerned. Yeah, even the so-called "crappy sights" work just fine.

    Glock has fierce competition nowadays from other reputable gun manufacturers. There are many handgun platforms out there that are as good and others even better than Glock. With that said, models 19 and 19X are the standard to compare to.

Nowadays, you find newer, more modern platform designs as good and some better than Glock. You are a Glock fan loyalist, I have evolved with the times. I have not stalled 40 years in time. Have you seen the new handguns in the market? Why to have Glock when you can have a Walther PDP, an H&K VP9, a CZ P10C, a Sig Sauer P365 XMacro TACOPS, S&W M&P Shield Plus Performance Center, even a Palmetto State Armory Dagger, the choices are wide!

      @@v.german11b I'm loyal to Glock for defensive use but am not a fanboy in that I acknowledge that there are firearms that have better features and are more fun to shoot. Don't confuse people like me with Glock fanboys that think Glock wins in every category for all types of uses. My favorite pistol is a Walther PDP by far - feels so nice to shoot, very ergonomic, better trigger, better stock stights, etc. However, my sidearm/fighting gun will always be Glock for the following reasons: 1) Price - I can purchase more Glocks than I could other options so that I can stockpile for myself and generations to come. 2) It has been proven to be effective by both law enforcement and military. 3) It's the easiest firearm to operate and clean. Along the same lines, a great gun to teach someone about firearms who hasn't owned one before.

I mean I'm as accurate with it as a Springfield XD 9 Service Model but I do need to hold the G19 more tighter to manage the recoil. Still, I choose the G19 because of its versatility. The things that always has me circle back is how ubiquitous aftermarket support is. Anything that comes out puts this gun first. No havign to wait oe anything. Fact of the matter is we all have peferences for recoil impulse, grip feel, sights, ect. Almost every gun from the major manufacturers go bang almost every single time in almost every single scenario to the point where reliability arguments are almsot comical. At the end of the day we are all spoiled with dozens upon dozens of options that are all quality tools that will reliably protect you in a pinch. Find what works for you, feels right for you, and fits your checklist. We're all eatin good with these handguns the last 15 years or so.
