This is one of Elton's most important and recognizable songs. It is one of the best classic ballads in the modern music history and is one of the best popular song ever written. There is a wonderful scene in the Elton bio movie of Bernie finishing off the lyrics after breakfast, handing them off to Elton where he slowly composes music to it. Bernie by this take in the bathroom where his ears peaked up as the melody started to flow out. Then Bernie peaked at Elton with a smile and they looked at each other with a look of they knew they had something special. This took place in the flat of Elton's mom when they both were unknown artist. Great things can come out of know where.
After your comment I remembered the scene absolutely classic!! Thanks so much for your comment it brought back great memories it seems Bernie and Elton were kind of polar opposites but collaborators extraodinaire which I probably didn't spell correctly but hope my point got across!!
Elton John is one of the best artist of all time. He's got a great voice he's creative. I'm not into monarchy but he deserve the title of Sir Elton John.
Now you should hear the original stereo studio version of Your Song. It is priceless and was voted to be the Song Of The Decade in a national pole at the end of that decade.😮😊
"Your Song" was Elton and lyricist Bernie Taupin (who doesn't get enough credit in my opinion) first hit although it didn't make # 1 it should have because the melody is so beautiful and the lyrics exceptional!! Another great song selection you might consider "Levon" by Elton but there are so many!!
Us Elton fans really know the importance of Bernie in the creation of those great songs. I think Bernie who is not as a public person as Elton is happy with the level of success he has achieved in his songwriting partnership with Elton and likes the fact that he can walk out in public without being mobbed. He is about to be inducted into the rock and roll hall of fame and about to put out a new book.
"Funeral For A Friend/Loves Lies Bleeding"... "Madman Across The Water"... "I've Seen That Movie Too"... "I Believe In Love"... "Levon"... "Tiny Dancer"... "The One"... "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road"... "All The Girls Love Alice"....... JM, Have Fun. I have Elton's entire catalog of incredible tunes.
JM Boy TV so glad I stumbled upon your channel ,everyday you play the great songs I grew up on, My Friend you are hitting it out of the park, and I Thank You Very Much 🎸🎹🎼👌😎
What you said, JM, about an artist’s music touching so many people (and for decades, I’ll add) is worth taking pause to consider. I suspect too many artists only think about numbers in record sales more than how their music affects people. I don’t think EJ was one of them. In 1984 he read in a magazine the story of a 15 y/o teen, Ryan White, who had contracted AIDS. Ryan wasn’t only suffering from the disease but also the cruel stigma of the times. His family had to take the district to court to get Ryan back in school & he was required to use a separate bathroom. He & his family were shunned in one way or another wherever they went. Elton John reached out to the family with an invitation to a concert. Elton, Ryan & family went from there to developing a close friendship that endured beyond Ryan’s death in 1990. EJ was at Ryan’s bedside when he passed and played at his funeral a song written for Ryan, ‘Skyline Pidgeon’. For those interested, a video of EJ playing at the funeral & the next is a short mini documentary about Ryan. th-cam.com/video/IQNSZNnV7XE/w-d-xo.html th-cam.com/video/Cul5c5toYdg/w-d-xo.html
I'd love to watch your reaction to "Evil Woman" by ELO (Electric Light Orchestra) Also Eton John's Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, if you haven't done that one. Again, great channel, great reactions!
"Your Song" is a song written by British musician Elton John and lyrics songwriter Bernie Taupin, and performed by John. It was John's first international Top 10 ... It's a little bit funny This feeling inside I'm not one of those who can easily hide I don't have much money, but boy if I did I'd buy a big house where we both could live If I was a sculptor, heh But then again, no Or a man who makes potions in a traveling show I know it's not much, but it's the best I can do My gift is my song and this one's for you And you can tell everybody This is your song It may be quite simple, but now that it's done I hope you don't mind I hope you don't mind That I put down in the words How wonderful life is while you're in the world I sat on the roof and kicked off the moss Well a few of the verses, well they've got me quite cross But the sun's been quite kind While I wrote this song It's for people like you that keep it turned on So excuse me forgetting But these things I do You see I've forgotten, if they're green or they're blue Anyway the thing is, what I really mean Yours are the sweetest eyes I've ever seen And you can tell everybody This is the song It may be quite simple, but now that it's done I hope you don't mind I hope you don't mind That I put down in the words How wonderful life is while you're in the world I hope you don't mind I hope you don't mind That I put down in the words How wonderful life is while you're in the world
Right after you hit 'Tiny Dancer', 💖I think you should skip to 1976 for Elton's upbeat duet with Kiki Dee, 'Don't Go Breaking My Heart' 💔 Here's a link to their cute video of it: th-cam.com/video/z0qW9P-uYfM/w-d-xo.html ✌
As always, a great reaction! Is it just me or did anyone else think Elton was a teeny bit off key with the first notes of the song? I think the tempo was a bit slower than the studio recording & maybe that’s why I thought it off. Regardless, I mostly prefer live versions but not here with this performance.
I can't help but wonder if today's music will still be played 50 years later like this gem🤔✌️
Wow 😲 how wonderful life is that you're in the world 🌎. What a beautiful thing to feel that way for someone

Such a beautiful song. 50 plus year later.
Its a stunning great song
Appreciate how you let it play. And your choices. Beautiful song.
This was the song most heard E.J. the first time, on his way to becoming one of the Best Selling Solo Artist in history. Another fine reaction.
I don't believe he sold more than Elvis just saying.
Words are not enough for Mr Elton John❤

"so many" is understated. It would take JM over 3 months at two songs per day just to do my E.J. Greatest Hits list

It's a little bit funny
This feeling inside
I'm not one of those who can easily hide
I don't have much money, but boy if I did
I'd buy a big house where we both could live
If I was a sculptor, heh
But then again, no
Or a man who makes potions in a traveling show
I know it's not much, but it's the best I can do
My gift is my song and this one's for you
And you can tell everybody
This is your song
It may be quite simple, but now that it's done
I hope you don't mind
I hope you don't mind
That I put down in the words
How wonderful life is while you're in the world
I sat on the roof and kicked off the moss
Well a few of the verses, well they've got me quite cross
But the sun's been quite kind
While I wrote this song
It's for people like you that keep it turned on
So excuse me forgetting
But these things I do
You see I've forgotten, if they're green or they're blue
Anyway the thing is, what I really mean
Yours are the sweetest eyes I've ever seen
And you can tell everybody
This is the song
It may be quite simple, but now that it's done
I hope you don't mind
I hope you don't mind
That I put down in the words
How wonderful life is while you're in the world
I hope you don't mind
I hope you don't mind
That I put down in the words
How wonderful life is while you're in the world

Your last five videos....Bob Dylan, Elton John, Billy Joel, Boston... Who are they? Never heard of them. One Hit Wonders?
