    Scotty, I own a 2017 base model Kia Forte LX myself. I bought it new as a leftover with steep incentives in Feb of 2018 for around $16k. It now has over 70K of hard miles (I'm an Uber Driver), but it hasn't given me the slightest bit of problems. Mine has the standard 6-speed transmission, which I think gives it quite a bit more oomph than the automatic, but I'm still able to get a combined average of 35 MPG. If I maintain a steady 55 on the freeway I can get around 45 MPG, but who am I kidding, I never drive that slow. My brakes still have over 40% remaining. The size of the trunk is surprising for a car that size. I often pick-up passengers headed to, or from, the airport or seaport that are amazed that I got all their luggage to fit. My passengers often compliment me on its ride and comfort, and are quite surprised by how well it compares to the Civic, Corolla, and even its sibling, the Hyundai Elantra. I only wish it had an independent rear suspension, as driving over railroad crossings or pot holes can sometimes be quite jarring. All in all I'm quite happy with it, and just wanted to share my experience.

    • @robertcabrera6232
      @robertcabrera6232 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@Juliquiny As a young person in college my advice to you would be to buy a reliable older used Civic, Accord, Corolla, or Camry rather than buying anything new. Before rideshare driving I sold cars for years, and I can't tell you how many young people I know who messed up their credit by getting into payments that they thought they could afford while they were in college, but struggled with them when the realities of independent life in the real world hit them.
      Most students, unless on full ride scholarships or getting tuition paid by their parents, are racking up student loan debt, and most jobs right out of college are entry level even if lucky enough to get in their chosen field. There are a lot of costs associated with car financing that no one ever thinks about when purchasing. For one, there is routine maintenance and normal wear and tear which isn't covered under warranty, that usually means taking to a dealer during the warranty period, which is expensive.
      If you don't put a lot of money down you'll need to get GAP coverage, so that if your car is totalled you won't end up owing the finance company more than your insurance will pay for the car's value. You'll also need full coverage insurance, and since you are young without a lot of money saved, you'll probably want uninsured motorist protection added and a lower deductible, so again you won't end up owing the finance company way more than insurance will pay if totalled.
      As to my Forte, as I mentioned it was a 2017 leftover that I purchased halfway through the 2018 model year. It was the cheapest, most basic, trim level, with no other options, and I purchased with $2000 in factory incentives, plus what was probably nearly that amount in factory to dealer incentives to move out the old inventory. So I got it for around $16,000 OTD. When all was said and done, my monthly payment was just under $250, but I also had well established good credit, had been on my job for several years, and put down $2500. I hope this helped.

Also if you are looking for power use the sport mode. I have to warn everyone that the eco drive mode is not meant for the city stop and go traffic and I have had situations where it was not responding predictably to accelerating, making for a few scary moments. It’s meant for the highway so be careful.

    The only major repair on it was a cracked radiator . Other than that it is still rolling strong. And now my daughter drives it. Wife decided to stay with Kia and now drives the 2018 Kia Sorento. These are well built solid vehicles for the price.

    I've had my 2010 Kia Forte almost 10 years! GREAT gas mileage especially on the highway. I could drive to my college town 100 miles away on 1/4 tank of gas (used roughly 3 gallons, CRAZY). The only issues I've ever had out of it were a weird shift from I think 1st to 2nd, the mechanics fixed it up for me, and my battery was just changed last year! I think 3-5 years is recommended but mine held up, I noticed the power was starting to diminish and it was having a harder time starting and I knew. Most of the OEM parts like headlights and such, I have only replaced a tail light and turn signal light. It's been a great car, I don't have 100,000 on it yet and it's my daily driver. It'll be hard to let it go, I don't plan to anytime soon.

      @@shaynesbuzzworld3391 you apparently know nothing about Korean cars, especially newer ones. Frankly, this car is going to be way more reliable than the new Corolla with that CVT ( not to mention, apparently now the fuel pump in newer Toyotas is faulty as well). And don't even get me started on the new Civic and that Earth Dream disaster engine. That thing is known for more oil problems than a California refinery. I advise that you get your car knowledge out of 1996. The Koreans have come a long way, and the Japanese have slipped quite a bit.

I will be sticking with certain Honda’s. The Kia and Hyundai’s are still not up to the longevity of Japanese cars. Even Scotty agrees most of the time lol. @@microtransactions2661 okay, in regards to the Optima, that was a recall that KIA actually took responsibility for, which is more than I can say for Toyota and their unintended-acceleration situation (and current CVT failure problem on Corollas). And paint on a car is hardly anything I really care about if the car runs and drives fine. It's amazing what people consider to be 'cheap' when it comes to a car.
