Hey everyone! Just a disclaimer, and I believe I mention this in the video. These are shades I hate using on myself! They look great on other people. The point of this video was to use some shades (and maybe begin to like them) that I would never reach for.

In my late 20s, failed the vision exam for my driver’s license and was in complete denial I needed glasses. Because I only needed a prescription in one eye, it was easy to navigate the world because my other eye compensated. I asked my eye doctor when I “needed” to wear my glasses. His response has stuck with me since. “Honey, whenever you want to see.”

Yes for sure! I started using eyeshadow primer instead of concealer and my makeup has never been the same since, in a good way ofc 💕

Idea for a video based on something you said in this one:
You said that if that small green palette you were using wasn't in elf packaging then you would think it was a high quality brand: Maybe do a video where you use products from drugstore, high end, indie, etc without knowing what they are and try to guess what category they fall into. It would require someone else picking the makeup for you (James maybe? fun collab idea since he's not a makeup expert) and somehow disguising it so you don't know what it is before you use it.

I think wearing glasses makes you just realise how bad your eyesight was and how you are actually supposed to see. Once your eyes adjust to wearing glasses it’s hard to go back and not see again
I think I exclaim "jesus CHRIST I'm blind!!!" Probably EVERY time I take my contacts out 😂 even though my vision has been relatively stable for a while! It's always just such a jolt! 😛
I have never heard anyone say "I'm so embarrassed" in such a cute way like that went right into my feels
In regards to wearing glasses, I was told by my optometrist that the reason my prescription stayed the same for 2 years was because I wore them all the time (things get fuzzy about two metres away for me). She said when you wear them the muscles in your eyes stay happy and relaxed, whereas if you try to see things without glasses the muscles tighten and strain, causing your eyesight to get worse. The only reason I needed a stronger prescription was because I was getting older, and it was only the slightest change needed for my glasses. This is just what happened to me and what I've been told, so I hope it helps! Love your vids🖤🖤🖤

Not sure what happens if eyes are same prescription, but danger with one strong eye / one weak eye is that the strong eye over compensates and the weak eye becomes lazier. Was giving me headaches because of the strain I was putting on one eye!
Glasses help make your eyes stronger, but I also think you notice the difference more if you wear them often and then don’t you’ll notice. I’m 40 and I’m hard of hearing. I spent most of my life without hearing aids, but if I don’t have my hearing aids in, I notice how much I struggle.
I think it varies person to person! Personally, my eyes have gotten stronger every time I’ve gone into my eye dr and the only time I wear mine is when I’m driving at night. P.S. - you slayed this look! I love it! 😍

Also glasses help. My sister resisted getting glasses for years, so her eyes compensated by making one short sighted and one long sighted, which means her eyesight is worse overall 🤦♀️

With glasses, not wearing them strains the eyes and causes issues in the long run! Wearing them corrects things that squinting can't fix, such as astigmatism. There's no way to increase sight by straining them, unfortunately. They are not a muscle we can train 😔 I have 20/400 vision lol

Since you prefer going with colors that are not yellow, have you thought about pairing the greens with oranges and terracottas? Oooooo what about a series where you explore all your cultural heritages to tie with your genetic testing? That would be fun. 😘
Also, wear the glasses. It really helps. What can ruin your eyesight is continuously straining to see or using the wrong prescription. My eyesight was the most stable when I used contacts. Just a thought. 🤓
I have blue eyes & cooler skin, and have been obsessing over khaki and olive green recently! Incredibly hard to find - there’s a kajillion boring warm nude palettes, but can’t find olives or other greens anywhere. Had to buy singles from Nars that are sort of there but not really 🥺

I think straining your eyes when you can't see can increase to eye strain, which can possibly make them weaker/give you headaches. After I take my glasses off for the day, it takes a little bit for my eyes to adjust and see more clearly (well, as clear as I can see without a prescription, lol). I'm blind af so I love my glasses 😅

I used to love wearing glasses until I started into makeup. I can't see ANYTHING that's further than 5cm from my face, so putting up makeup is extra difficult. The mirror has to be glued to my nose and I can't always see the issues until the very end :/ (but please, do use them 🧡🖤)

Hi Robert, my man is a Optician all his life and he says clearly.
The more you wear your glasses the better your eyesight can get. Especially when you are younger.
I wear glasses since i am 30,now i am almost 60 and i safed myself from almost beeing blind by wearing my glasses every day.
I see my glasses as an Accessoire more then anything.
Plus, it all depends if you take any Meditation.

I've loved olive and gold-y, warm-toned greens for decades now. It saddens me that blue and red get center stage and welcomed, whereas greens always get shafted. Blue looks SO BAD ON ME. It's kept me from getting Pat McGrath Mothership I, cuz it's too expensive to not use 10% of the palette!

Please wear your glasses Robert. I refused to as a teen (you know, 'cause glasses back in the day were sooo lame...) and my eyesight got even worse. Now I don't see anything at all without them or my contac lenses. Without proper glasses you squint your eyes more and actually put them to even more work when you try to see better. Don't know any specific terms for that but you exhaust your eyes and just harm them in the end. Lots of love
Glasses have been a necessity since I was seven. I'm nearly legally blind at fourty one. I recently was in a wedding and the entire wedding party lost it when I climbed into the bathroom sink to do my makeup(at my age magnified mirrors are the enemy). Its a comical sight to be sure. It would be wonderful to see a look with your glasses! Love your videos!

As a former optometry student, I assure you that glasses will NOT weaken your eyes. If they did, optometrists wouldn’t be so quick to prescribe glasses to those with decent eyesight already. Don’t worry about it!

I’ve been wearing glasses daily since 2007. I am near sighted with an astigmatism. I don’t think they make your eyes stronger, if anything (sides from the obvious helping you see better) they help your eyes from getting worse because you don’t have to strain them as much trying to see. My prescription has only changed a little 2-3 times since having to wear them daily. Definitely recommend getting glasses if you need them and if you’re able to.

Personally, I love using this green shades but I also can’t stand using yellow-y golds.
Hey Robert, glasses lessen straining of the eyes as we adjust how we look at things (i.e. looking near or afar). That's why lenses have to be prescribed with the appropriate eye grade to help your eyes adjust properly. If its wrong eye grade then I guess that is when it can cause straining/weakness. Hope this helped :)
this isn't entirely true. contact lenses lessen the straining of the eye, but because the lenses in glasses are so far away from the eye, the nerves/muscles around the eye can absolutely still train trying to make up the distance
@@katiemack9761 that doesn't make sense to me. Your prescription should make the precise correction your eyes need to focus properly. There's no difference in the correction between lenses and glasses

I’m so glad you mentioned the ELF palettes! They are so amazing and so cheap - you can literally buy every one of them and it’s still cheaper than buying one higher end palette. I have so many and I have been wondering why I haven’t seen anyone online talking about them.

I recently started using blues/ greens which I used to hate but now seem to love. I think its good to try what you don't think you like periodically... you never know, your preferences may change.

Glasses don't make your eyes worse, I think what happens is when you use your glasses consistently you get so used to clear vision that when you go back to not wearing them you notice a big difference in clarity and that makes you feel like they've gotten worse. At least that's in my experience!
Some people's eyesight will get worse with age- they just don't perceive it changing because they're wearing their glasses lol
i wear glasses all the time since i was like 6 y/o and let me say that you can actually feel when your eyesight has gotten worse. at least thats my case. i have myopic astigmatism. every year and a half or two years i notice that my eyesight is worse than it was because i can see even less than i could before (two years ago i could see my hand 2 cm apart from my face, and now i cant see anything at all). even when wearing glasses i have headaches and i feel dizzy, so i can tell that i need to change my glasses. unlike me, my mom's myopia has gotten better with age and by wearing glasses all the time- long story short, your eyesight may or may not get better if you wear glasses (and it really depends on what you have), but not wearing them means that your eyesight is definitely going to get worse with time, and you might need to wear glasses 24/7 too 😔
@@bakutiddies9895 totally agree! I can tell when my prescription needs updating (usually around 1.5-2 years as well). I’m 27 and it’s finally starting to slow the progression 😅 something I’m hopeful for is my stigmatism to correct itself in time. My cousins is completely gone now that he’s older, as well as my moms! 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼

I actually really like this look! I totally get what you're saying though, there are colors we all dislike & shy away from. For me that color is blue. I literally forced myself to do blue looks only for 1mo & was pleasantly surprised. 💚

I honestly have never felt more beautiful with my makeup. That coming from someone who used to bake and waste tons of foundation and concealer for nothing. I never thought I could hide my dark circles with 2 dots of strategically placed concealer. I never thought I could simply NOT powder somer areas and avoid looking cakey

And I definitely think for me that glasses make my eyesight worse. I’ve worn glasses every day of my life since I was 15 and now, 10 years later if I take them off I can’t see 20 centimetres in front of me.
@@kaylawashere1 I 100% agree, I've been using mine since I was 8,and if I take them off, even for a shower, I can't see a thing!!! I always ask my husband for help finding my glasses in the morning, even if I leave it in the same spot, I can't find them!!

Regarding the glasses, I have never been a fan of wearing glasses all the time, but wearing in front of PC, TV and the majority of the time when I am on my phone has definitely improved my migraines and also I don't feel that tired..
I’ve been wearing glasses since 1st grade. Your eyes get dependent on them so throughout the years my eyes have always fluctuated in prescription each year. I’m in my mid twenties and honestly idc anymore. I’m not a candidate for laser since they’re unstable. But I love frames so whatever. 💕

I think people have a love or hate relationship with yellow, green, and grungy shades. I personally think these shades work better on darker and Olive undertone skinned people. If I wear green of any kind people ask me if I am sick (ill looking)🤢😒
Well, I like wearing green because my eyes are emerald green. I don't really wear "grungy" shades very often, but I do love mints, grassy greens, forest greens, and emerald greens. I do hate yellow though, especially mustard yellow. My skin, in case you're wondering, is very fair with pink/rosy undertones. So, I look good in blue-toned greens but not so much in yellows.
Yes.. Yellow and green works well with medium and darker skintones with warm undertones..

Glasses are part of the look: i don't think they make eyes weaker, most of the time, i wear my glasses just because they compliment the eye makeup x)

about the glasses: i used to have migraines a few days a week and getting glasses and wearing them regularly reduced them like a lot to about once a week

Wearing glasses helps your eyes relax too, you don’t force them to squint and try to see better. Even when I wear mine from time to time, my eyes feel less stressed out and I don’t get headaches as much
The panic and over-blending of the blush trying to get it to work is one of the most relatable things ever. We’ve all done it at least once. 😂😂
I’m not a huge fan of anything pink- eye shadow, lipstick, blush etc. I think it can good on some people but it’s just not my cup of tea.

Same here. Pink is everywhere...I feel like it dominates lip products, blush colours and nail varnishes. I am always searching for peachy colours and reds that don't pull pink! X
And it's perfect on me since my skin has a pink undertone. Products like that mimic my natural flush and lip tone. Granted, I don't wear pink eyeshadow very often, but I do wear pink blush and lip products frequently.
This is a good tutorial for when you forgot your make up bag at home, in another city, and you gotta rush for a wedding or some other big event, and have to do with whatever cosmetics you find in a nearby supermarket! :D

As a glasses wearer of 30-odd years, I have asked this question myself, of the eye doctor when I was a teenager (I hated having to wear them. I was the 'four-eyed nerd'). Glasses neither improve your eyes, themselves, nor do they make them worse. Glasses simply let you see what you can't.
At 43, I've fought getting bifocals (because bifocals say 'OLD LADY' to me, but this year I got them. I can see better, I don't get those eye-strain headaches, and the monitor I sit in front of every day doesn't murder my eyeballs with blue light.
Sad to say, but unless you get laser eye correction (which doesn't always work, ask my mom), your eyes will just continue to degenerate over time. That's just how it is for some of us. But it's not so bad. I think you'd look cute af with a slim-framed, silver or black oval pair. ^_^

I like the way your eyes turned out. That highlighter was nice too. I think you should do a tutorial with those eye shadow colors again, but with the blushes and lipstick shades you do like. It might surprise you just how good it could turn out.
Btw, thank you for being among the few that does makeup "properly" as opposed to all the Instagram techniques every other influencer does. You changed my game with the concealer technique and just dusting setting powder under my eyes instead of baking. My 20 yr old lives to bake and do those triangles but I am turning 41 in Feb and am old with dry and wrinkly skin under my eyes. Lol

I bought the green revolution palette (can’t remember the name) bc it looked so beautiful on people I watched use it on TH-cam. Tried it on myself and it looked horrific I was so upset 🤣. I think you just have to be able to pull the colour off xx

Ask your optometrist about how glasses work with your eyes’ physiognomy. That being said, if the glasses help you see better, why not wear them? Vanity will only take you so far.

Robert, I used to HATE purple on me. I’m very warm toned (practically yellow) and my eyes are green and I thought purple just WAS NOT my color. But honestly your love of purple inspired me to give it a try. I still prefer reds and pinks, but you’ve shown me the ultraviolet light!
The dark green as a liner is so gorgeous. I love a gold accent or whole lid -- but having darker skin it doesn't look so loud. Was really looking forward to a red lip with that! Lol...and the blush! I don't use blush, except as eyeshadow, fun to watch.
