Don't need a camera, but just a tone as in reverse would be nice. First Kia and I love it.

That is a great function on the mirrors. They should have them do that with a heat sensor on the highway, so you can see if your cars on fire. Than you can pull over before the car is totally engulfed in flames. 😂

It does not ‘ping’ when no destination has been set. Why is this and can the ‘ping’ sound be turned off? Not able to find anyone here who can enlighten me. Thank you 😁
Hello. I believe those "pings" are telling you where to turn. They tend to go off AT the intersection while the voice tells you to get ready to turn, the ping will tell you that you're now at the spot. I know that you can adjust the overall navigation sound volume up or down, but I'll have to look into if you can turn the ping noises on or off.

Question: I read in my manual 2019 Kia Sorrento EX that in order to engage the engine immobilizer feature to prevent criminal remote car theft, that I should always use my key fob to lock my doors. Please advise.
Hi. We just got a 2023 Carnival EX in New Brunswick... and it doesn't seem to have this feature. I also looked through all the settings and couldn't find anything that would affect it. Is there something I'm missing? (yes... I did make sure the switch was not centered 🙂) Thanks.
Doesn't happen in my 2022 Hyundai Tucson hybrid Ultimate so I manually tilt my side mirrors so I can see the kerb. The control button I keep to the side. Is this benefit restricted to Kia?
Had that in my 2012 Chevy Equinox LTZ. When I put the transmission in reverse, both mirrors would tilt down, regardless of the remote mirror adjustment lever position.
Does a 2023 Kia Sorento X-Line EX have the mirror tilt down feature? I couldn't get it to do it today. Hoping maybe I missed something, this would be a nice feature to have.

I just bought a 2022 Kia Carnival in Seattle last week but it was made for Canada. It didn't come with a printed manual. Do you know how I can get one? Also, do you know the differences between a US Carnival and a CA Carnival?
The tilting wing mirrors doesn't work on my 2017 Kia Sportage GT line. I'm in Australia so the driver's seat is the left side of you're facing the car from the front. Is that the reason why it doesn't work for me?
This is great 👍 I had no idea! I keep my mirror toggle in the centre position as well. I will try this secret function - hope it also works on my Hyundai. Also, is it tge Kia Sportage that has the windshield defroster? Thanks ✌️
I just bought a 2022 Sorento SX FWD, and I tried to use that feature and it didn't work. I guess the car needs some package that I don't have, like maybe a Technology Package. I just manually move the mirror to point down. I never thought of this before, cool idea.
Just be careful if using this function with extending mirrors for towing a caravan when fitted. If reversing it can crack the mirror! However just remember to disable it before towing. 😊
I hope my new K5 EX has that. For some reason I think it wont. I dont even think the mirrors fold mechanically. Not sure why they removed that after the optima name went away. Anyways, cant wait to try that tomorrow. Edit: Ok. I confirmed this morning that this does indeed work. THANK YOU! Your videos are soooooo helpful!
Did not know the mirror trick on my 2020 Stinger Limited 👍 Peter can you show where the heck the positive and negative charge posts under the hood are located for Stinger, given Covid I want to trickle charge but positive spot is tricky to find, I think I have it located from manual, but wow not user friendly. Thanks,
Can you turn in the mirrors using the power function so that when you back out of the garage you (in this case my wife) doesn't bang the mirrors against the opening?
It may not work on the EX model, but it definitely works on the SX model. The EX model has a weird mix of features missing in order to hit the price-point that allowed all Niro EV's to qualify for the federal EV rebate.
it's automatic you don't do anything when temp is below 40 the mirrors heat for like 10 minutes after starting car. I had other vehicles with same feature they all do the same thing. I haven't seen any vehicle you can activate mirrors heat or defog manually.
That must be Smaht Pahk feature shown in the Super Bowl commercial. /S That's a great feature, I always activate it when backing into space so I center vehicle in-between lines, minimize door dings.
I have a 2016 Kia Soul EV - today the mirrors would not open when I unlocked the car. It would start but the mirrors remained stowed. My wife got the 2nd key and the lock/unlock command from this remote correctly operated the mirrors. Finally we tested the first remote and now the mirrors are folding normal with both remotes?????? A true mystery. Is there a way to manually open the mirrors if needed?
Hmmm... That's a strange one. I believe they can be pulled out manually on SOME cars, but not knowing which cars, means that I'm hesitant to advise you to pull on them. You may want to just check with your local service department to see if there's something that they can diagnose. If it's intermittent, it may have just been a one-time thing.
@@BrantfordKia thanks....i will have to pursue it more if it happens again. Perhaps i should just lock the mirrors in the deployed position. Is there a way to do this?
@@xrotor7813 It depends on the car. If you have the toggle switch that says AUTO, then you can toggle it to the left and it will stay out. I believe your car just has the single button that pulls them in. In that case, there's not much you can do.
@@BrantfordKiathanks again i was reading the manual and the car has the three position toggle. I also need to explain better what happened.... my wife got in an open soul ev and started the car. The mirror tilting feature doesn't seem to work on the 2022 Niro. Is it something that's only on some models/trims and not on others or was it discontinued in 2022? Is it still there in Canada and possibly only available in North American cars and not European ones?
@@BrantfordKia the button looks visibly different as well on the 2022 compared to what you had. Can you check if you get a chance/if possible? The swedish dealers are pretty bad/hopeless/useless so i don't even want to ask them
I have a 2022 Telluride ex model all-wheel drive. When I switch the lever to the left or the right it will not do the tilting mirrors when in reverse. Any information on this? Does it have to be the SX model only?
You'd be amazed how many people don't make it past the first pages of their owner's manual. It's "secret" because there's not an obvious label in the vehicle that tells you where it is or what it does.

@@BrantfordKia Thx Peter ... yes Canada ... does it (mirror heating) require some setting of the heating system (like rear window demisting) or is it self-sensing ? or is it dependent on the mirror (L/R) switch (you know, the thing your ADD likes to keep centered) ? cheers
Hey I got my Kia k5 GT line and my Apple car play is not going full screen but all the videos I have seen they have it full screen. Can you please tell if there is a setting or something I need to do for it.

That should solve your problem. Let me know how it goes. I may have to look into it, but we can't seem to keep a K5 in stock, and we have yet to receive our first K5 GT.
I haven't yet because this has changed over time. They used to be done at the dealer, currently, they can be done with mapping updates (which customers can do from home), and soon there will be over-the-air updates on our newest cars. I just bought a 2022 Kia Carnival in Seattle last week but it was made for Canada. It didn't come with a printed manual. Do you know how I can get one? Also, do you know the differences between a US Carnival and a CA Carnival?
Would I be able to use this feature in my 2021 kia K5 gt line?
this is great and smart from kia .thank peter for your time and shearing .this smart mirror does have seltos 2022 sx turbo ?
The Seltos is one vehicle that doesn’t have this feature. I wish it did.
Hi Peter, I have the EX+ (Canadian) and this doesn't work. I assume it is only on the SX trim?
Hi Peter I have a 2023 Kia sorento and the mirrors are not working when I back up
Just be careful if using this function with extending mirrors for towing a caravan when fitted. If reversing it can crack the mirror! However just remember to disable it before towing. 😊
Great point!
Sorry, I was away on vacation. I'm glad you figured it out. Thanks for watching!
Hi! How do you defrost side mirrors on a sorento 2015? Thanks
If the vehicle has power fold mirrors, then yes, you can press a button to fold them in.
@@BrantfordKia thanks for the reply I'm glad it has that feature.
Am I missing his to do this on my 2019 Niro EV EX? Any different instructions? Right now I'm moving them myself and would really like this.
It may not work on the EX model, but it definitely works on the SX model. The EX model has a weird mix of features missing in order to hit the price-point that allowed all Niro EV's to qualify for the federal EV rebate.
@@BrantfordKia so weird. Let's put the auto folding side mirrors but leave off (what I imagine is just a wire or coding)...
The Stinger’s mirrors do that also.
Yes!! You're right! Thanks for watching!
Very cool! Do you had a video on how to use the defogger in the side mirrors? Thanks!
I don't have a video, but if you turn on the REAR defrost, it will defog your mirrors.
it's automatic you don't do anything when temp is below 40 the mirrors heat for like 10 minutes after starting car. I had other vehicles with same feature they all do the same thing. I haven't seen any vehicle you can activate mirrors heat or defog manually.
Hi and thanks! Did not worked for my 2023 Kia Sportage X-Line Limited.
That must be Smaht Pahk feature shown in the Super Bowl commercial. /S That's a great feature, I always activate it when backing into space so I center vehicle in-between lines, minimize door dings.
Haha! I have Smaht Pahk videos too! Kia doesn't have that feature yet.
As it started the the mirrors folded up and remained that way until we iaed the second fob. We did not rember the mirror conteol so did not try that. Anyway thanks again for your help
my 2005 chevy trailblazer does this too. also has rain detection
The mirror tilting feature doesn't seem to work on the 2022 Niro. Is it something that's only on some models/trims and not on others or was it discontinued in 2022? Is it still there in Canada and possibly only available in North American cars and not European ones?
It worked on most Niro's previous to 2022. I haven't tried it on the 2022, so I'm not sure!
Honestly, I'm not sure if the Telluride has this feature. Perhaps it's only on the top trims, they've moved it to only the top trim for the Sorento.
Was thus available on the Kia souls too?
Great lessons. Thanks for sharing. 🙏🙏🙏
Thanks for watching!
Hi dude, I am trying to install a sub woofer for my kia sorento 2021. Can you please help showing how to remove the head unit? Many thanks
Oooh... that's not my thing. They don't trust me with tools around here. :)
Not sure about other models, but in my Telluride, this is not a secret funciton - it is described in detail on page 4-63 of the owner's manual.
You'd be amazed how many people don't make it past the first pages of their owner's manual. It's "secret" because there's not an obvious label in the vehicle that tells you where it is or what it does.
@@BrantfordKia You're no doubt right about that - guess I'm one of those rare ones who actually reads the manual.
@@basilbcf Rare indeed! Like... Unicorn levels of rare!! :)
@@BrantfordKia 😅
Is the xline do this or only the sx trim
Thanks for all the info. I recently got a Sorento prestige Xline in the states and I just been going through all your vids just finding out stuff that I won’t normally see just by going through the car slowly. It just sucks that we don’t get the memory seats over here and I’ve noticed that other places like Australia also get the HUD. But still love my Sorento. 👍🏽.
Yeah, the U.S. market made some interesting decisions, especially the lack of memory seats, but overall these are great vehicles. Thanks for watching!
I put my car in reverse and mirror switch on middle and it keeps tilting any idea how to fix Kia sedona 2010 tjx
CAN YOU DO A FEATURES AND FUNCTIONS DEMO FOR THE 2022 KIA RIO SEDAN LX? FULLY LOADED/UNLOADED
Is this feature only used for Sorrento ?
does this work with the Kia Sorento 2022 Ex+?
The 360 view eliminates the need for the tilting side mirrors when backing up. That’s why it was eliminated in 2022 on Kia and Hyundai models.
Will this work with 2022 Niro LXS HEV?
Is this also in 2021 ķia soul EX?
Is this function also available on the Hyundai?
Some of them do, yes.
@@BrantfordKia do you know if the Santa Fe ultimate calligraphy have this function?
Does this work on a 2014 ?
is it on 2016 uk sportage gt line?
Does the 2023 kia sorento sx awd does this?
Is that function in the Ioniq 5 or the Kano ev
I do believe the U.S. 2022 Kia K5 Gt Line doesn’t have the mirror tilt in reverse function. I do see the blue line though. It would be cool if they all had the mirror tilt especially 2022 trims you would think.
Yeah, it's something that they have done in some cars, and not in others. I don't know how they decide to include it or not.
2017 Kia Sportage doesn't have the wing mirror tilt
Does this work on the 2024 Kia Seltos SX?
No the Kia Seltos does not support this feature
When it's cold outside mine doesn't do that unless the car heater is on. And my switch is too the left
Works for Hyundai too... Found this out months ago on the Palisade...
this function isn't available any more on a KIA E-NIRO my Niro witch I have sinds 03-18-2022 ordered in nov. 202. or is it?
I'll have to try our Kia Niro EV's here in Canada. It's worked on the Niro's in the past.
Works on my 2017 optima thanks !!
Yup! Thanks for watching! Many Optima's had this feature.
Hello Peter i just purchased a Kia Sorento 2021 SX Prestige I live in California. My mirror doesn’t go down when I put it in reverse I don’t have memory set I don’t have the window protector. Come on? Please help.
I can help... but it involves you moving to Canada... are you in? :) Oftentimes American vehicles are equipped a little differently than Canadian vehicles. (We usually have nicer top trims) Soooo.... Welcome to Canada?
how about mirror heating ? I'm sure they are but there's little written about it ? cheers
Yes they are heated! All of our vehicles are standard with heated and electronically controlled side mirrors (Canada)
So, I haven't seen that car yet, but I believe there is a setting. I'm going based on memory, but you need to find the PHONE PROJECTION settings and look for a SPLIT SCREEN check box. That should solve your problem. Let me know how it goes. I may have to look into it, but we can't seem to keep a K5 in stock, and we have yet to receive our first K5 GT.
@@BrantfordKia thanks for the reply but I guess you did a video on GT line
@@BrantfordKia but anyways I will check and see if it works. Thanks for your help
@@BrantfordKia hey thanks I found it in the settings and it’s fixed. Thank you !
@@rajatgrover8727 Ah, I misread your first statement. I thought you meant GT, not GT-Line. Anyway. Glad it worked out! Thanks for letting me know!
Do you have a class on infotainment updates?
I haven't yet because this has changed over time. They used to be done at the dealer, currently, they can be done with mapping updates (which customers can do from home), and soon there will be over-the-air updates on our newest cars. So I won't make that video until I see our next generation of vehicles in the coming months that will launch with the latest technology.
In your description you should put what KIA vehicle that this secret mirror function works on!
