Older Jamaican gardner here. Baby that red stuff is mulch, not soil. Not good to grow edible things in dyed mulch. You’re starting a wonderful journey. 😊
@lori11228 based on her statement "It's all trial and error here", I assume she's learned a lot by trying things out and seeing how it goes. If there are things you think she should learn, maybe try recommending a resource rather than just being negative about her work. She makes growing plants feel accessible to people, and that's a wonderful thing.
@@rebekahh350 She's not going to read what I comment. Other people have also told her of better methods and the correct way to do things but it has no impact
The larger avodcado seeds grow well. It takes a while to root. But, pretty plant. I have seeds in water and seeds in potting soil. I have a few avocado plants at least two feet tall with several leaves. All indoor in cold weather in NW PA. Outdoor from late spring until first frost or temps below fifty degrees farinheit.
A great way to get avocados to grow is hydroponically, using cocktail sticks, water and placing the stone above the water. My ten year old and I have been quite successful with this method the last four years. Also, if/when you plant the germinated stone it is best to place the roots in the soil, facing downwards. Indoors is best too, until you see shoots coming from it at least. They do fine indoors as an indoor plant, in a mid sunny position or trial and error depending on how your avocado plant is fairing. 🥑
Thanks to you my son and husband are growing an avocado plant ❤. Our son wants to plant every seed he finds in his food lately so we have quite a collection. Unfortunately some didn't grow, some went dormant very quickly after flowering. But, we have a ton of seeds for next year!
Please always wash the skin of Avocado carefully before cutting into it with a knife. Salmonella can grow on avocado skin. When you cut into it, the knife can pass on the bacteria to the flesh.
These are just regular abacates for me, avocados are very fancy here in Brazil. With these, we had a lot of success with growing it in just water, hovering the bottom of the pit over a jar with some sticks or screws and just change the water every 3 days or so
You should just start it directly in the soil you can bottom water but it won’t go through the shock of environment change like you can get when you start something from a very moist environment like a plastic bag and paper towel
You need peat moss and some perlite no organic material added for the first few months. After that it’s ok to mulch on top of the soil and don’t bury deep.
I don't see any difference between one of those mexican ones (idk how to explain it, but there are different kinds and this one doesn't seem to have anything peculiar)😅
All 🥑 from the Caribbean are built differently! ‘Tis the season now and here in 🇯🇲 Jamaica we are having ourselves a time with them all.

i kinda recommend to just put the seed directly on soil or a bit buried, most of the time they turn out great i think it’s faster that way
I know. She has a whole channel about plants but seems to lack a lot of basic knowledge. It drives me nuts

We have the same in Brazil!! Those that we see in USA movies are rare and really expensive here.
Oh no! Did a squirrel get it?

I always poke my avocado seeds on either side with toothpicks then half submerged in water til it sprouted.

Love the DR & their avocadoes ❤
Your would benefit from a red wiggler worm bin! I throw my seeds in there and now there are several mango trees and avocado trees growing like crazy 💚
What brand of soil did/ do you use?
That was red mulch lmao
@@lori11228oh lmao
same from all of the caribbean
I wish I could try that I have been looking for so long to find it!
I like the flavor of these more than the Hass❤
I need to try this!❤
I guess this is in South America 😅 the avocado you have is almost too little, thera are bigger ones 😅
Great, some 20 years later you’ll have a dud. Avocados don’t grow true to their seeds, which is why farmers graft their best avocado.
Nah the best avocados are black when ripe. These are some other variety with lower fat content.
She was weird she was tying to touch me 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️🗣️
