    Thank you! My PT just recommended this, and I was happy to see you did also. If you do decide to talk more about this device, I'd like to know potential timelines for recover, what progress looks like, how often to use it, indications it's not being used correctly, and whether it's appropriate for overnight use.

    I was just issued this little device by my ortho to help correct my PIP extension, after 5 weeks in a splint, post CRPP surgery. I broke PPs on IF, MF and RF of my dominant hand. Is 2 hrs per use enough time? My flexion is practically back to pre-injury and I’m lacking 10° +/- a few on each finger.

    surgeon k wired my finger slightly bent. from my understanding this means the tendon is now loose/slack which is causing the boutonniere deformity.
    this device will allow tendons to shorten again correct? my concern is that I still need to do flexion exercises, which will basically cancel out the extension exercises/spliting? am I correct?

    • @dani_ellaTM
      @dani_ellaTM ปีที่แล้ว

      It happened the same to me after 4 k wires (spiral fracture )in two fingers of mi right hand. Your exercises(flexion) will improve because while you are using this splint the extension ligaments will be reforced. Imagine your joint as a pulley with two forces if you only work in one (flexion) the other one will be stuck. It hurts a little bit, but it works. Be constant ! It just order another one . Our fingers deserve it 😊

    How many time a day and how long (maximum time) should one wear this? I tend to wear mine after trying to bend my finger. It's been 5 months since I injured my PIP in middle finger from a torn ligament. Still can't fully bend or straighten. I'm getting discouraged a bit.

    I’ve had 3 tendon surgeries due to PIP lag after every surgery. Would this splint be beneficial for pip lag?

    • @VirtualHandCare
      @VirtualHandCare  ปีที่แล้ว

      It could be helpful if the PIP joint is contracted however if it is a lag due or droop due to a central slip injury then this may not be for you. Can you get a hand therapist to evaluate your finger?

    • @jonahm2233
      @jonahm2233 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@VirtualHandCare I’ve had several therapist look at it. But yes the lag is due to a central slip repair. Just need something to help straighten it out.

    Would this work for mallet finger, like after 3 months when you’re done splinting, if your finger still droops a bit

    • @VirtualHandCare
      @VirtualHandCare  ปีที่แล้ว

      No this definitely not for a mallet finger. A spring splint is worn for short periods of time to the middle joint not tip.
