I had a very painful trigger finger on my middle finger, I went to a local clinic, the Doctor gave one shot of steroid injection 💉, after a week the pain was still there, I went over to the Clinic again, and the Doctor 😷 gave another steroid injection 💉...i forced my hand to force and push a cabinet 🗄, I felt something cracked inside my hand 🖐️....I went and checked with a specialist Doctor, he said my tendon on the middle finger is cracked due to the frequent steroid injection 💉, it has soften my tendon and he said not safe to take the steroid injection frequently....now I have to do a surgery for the broken tendon and my trigger finger pain as well...i can't bend the end of my middle finger, it's a very disappointed experience for me 😥...pls be careful before taking the steroid injection 💉....better get a specialist opinion...just sharing my experience with the trigger finger effects

I have had several surgical procedures for this problem years ago. Injections did not help me at all. After surgery, the pain was gone. I have a new area acting up on my ring finger left hand. I am trying massage this time. I’d like to avoid surgery although it was not bad at all.

High risks also include hand scrubbing and cleaning. Including, but not limited to floors, walls, dishes & toilets.
Typing and working with constant fingers being used for strength and injuries where the fingers were stretched out too far.
I didn't do a study but that's my problem with finger and thumb.

I told my doctor I had trigger finger. He examined it and agreed. I treated it myself with daily massages in the painful areas. When I went back I showed my doctor my trigger finger was cured. He smiled and looked at it and said how'd you do that? I cheated because I had worked for a doctor who treated and cured trigger finger repeatedly with massage. No expensive surgery needed.

my physio thought i had a ganglion cyst and xray didn't show any arthritis. He did wax of my hand, ultrasound, stretches and I wore a thumb brace but it didn't help. but he referred me to surgeon who said it was trigger thumb. it was a painful bump but it wouldn't catch at all. I play guitar a lot with chording - it's not a thumb movement but more a long term gripping motion.

I had the surgery done on my ring finger and my long fingers in Dec 2022. My hand did not heal properly and my fingers became very gnarled. I could not use them at all. Thankfully, this was my non dominant hand. Later, the doctor said that severe arthritis had caused the joints to become dislocated and I had to have all of the upper knuckle joints replaced. The hand still did not heal properly and my fingers are in very bad shape. He is now recommending that I have joint fusion done to straighten my fingers. Would this be the only option. I don’t like having a useless twisted hand. I would love to send you a picture of my hand. It is unreal that my two trigger fingers caused me to have a deformed hand. I am so disappointed. Why would arthritis cause such a bad outcome to my hand surgery? It has been almost a year. The joint replacement was done in April of 2023.

Surgery works well but can reduce range of motion slightly when closing hand into a fist. I did the shot on all of them first. But on #4 I got the shot and scheduled the surgery at the same time. There is a long wait to get surgery scheduled. I don't even notice any adverse side effects after the surgery. The noise it makes when they make the cut is creepy.

I never even knew this is what it was in my two fingers. And then to know that there's a surgery that could fix this? Or injections? God I just wish this pain would stop but I'm a house cleaner so I don't even know how I would take time off for a surgery let alone recovery. But at this time my hands are in so much pain that I have no choice but to take the time off. It's like I'm stuck because I have to make money to pay my bills. I went on TH-cam to look up how to open up your fingers in the morning cuz I try and I put pressure underneath my fingers where it hurts so I can open them and it takes forever to do and it's so painful to unpop them. Thanks for your comment, I found it helpful. I hope you're doing good still

@@wendyk6875 injection of steroids by trained doctors is possible, it will help to reduce the inflammation at the affected area. Usually some light physio therapy , topical cream and a finger guard to use may also be necessary. The finger guard has a special fit to help keep the finger straight ( extended). But being able to let the affected finger rest will help. This is my personal experience, surgery was not an option because of other underlying conditions. Hope you are well by now.

TQ for your detailed and precise explanation. Since 10 years ago, I had total of 3 injections (1 on left & 2 on my right hand). Now my left hand is having this problem again for past month. Can I take another injection on this hand ?

I have had 2 trigger thumbs,6 trigger finger,4 dupuytren's and 1 carpal tunnel surgeries in the past 5 1/2 years. My advice get yourself to a board certified hand specialist doctor asap at first signs of a problem. Injections hurt like hell and not long term maybe a few months at most. Best to fix it right.

I believe I have this , my middle finger hurts in the same area everyday. But it’s normally when I’m not at work using my hands. When I’m off it swells, so I massage it. Cause that’s the only thing that feels good. And then the swelling goes away for a lil bit.

I had fallen in the street in 2019, my left thumb and my third finger was causing problems, I went to the Doctor, she recommended me to a hand Specialist, he gave me Injection twice, but my thumb at the back is still bulging out, but I have no pain as much, I can still crochet , but not as long as I used to, thank God I don't have carpal tunnel syndrome

  • @Alex_RD0
    @Alex_RD0 3 ปีที่แล้ว +8

Is it normal that I've had this problem since I was like 4-11 years old? (Not anymore though)
My finger still feels abnormal whenever i flex or stretch, even when it's still (it doesn't get stuck anymore just so you know). But it doesn't hurt or bother me at all, I've had it like this for like 5 years maybe.
Yet still I'm curious to see a doctor and have an actual diagnosis of my finger, but I'm also afraid i might need surgery or an injection; normally injections don't bother me, but I've never had one in my hand, so I'm scared that it might be really painful.
I could honestly just live with my finger feeling abnormal cause sometimes i even forget about it, but if someone has had that injection, please let me know how it felt so I can consider if i should have it or not.
