    I'm so glad I found your channels. It was even given Machin3's seal of approval.

      Thanks. And that's high praise coming from someone as accomplished as Machin3 😁

    I have to say this kind of thing would be about 10 times faster in Plasticity. And the only way to achieve this quiclky is by using two or three add-ons and learning their ins and outs. Mesh machine hardops loop tools booltools. You might as well create something like this in plasticity and import it to blender and it would actually be simpler. I mean I think it's great that blender has lots of add-ons but some of them are incompatible you have to maintain them all and update them all etc etc kind of a messy pita.

    • @ArtisansofVaul
      @ArtisansofVaul  ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Yes and no. Without having to explain it I could knock this out in under 5 mins. 10 times faster than that would be 30 seconds and I find that unlikely. I'd be curious to see how quickly this could genuinely be done in plasticity though. I'd also be interested in seeing what the mesh looked like as I have heard some not great things about the meshes created.
      Don't get me wrong plasticity looks great but I'm not sure it's there for all the functions I would want in a program. I also have concerns buying something for $100 when that only lasts till the end of version 1. What if the functions I want don't come in until version 2.0? Spend another $100?
      Again I'm not slating Plasticity, these are just my genuine concerns about using it.

    Just a heads up, if you press Alt-E, you'll get a menu for extrude along normals and extrude individual faces - no need to go through hard ops :)

    • @ArtisansofVaul
      @ArtisansofVaul  ปีที่แล้ว

      That's true but it can have issues which makes HardOps more efficient. I've got a short on it here: th-cam.com/users/shortsnrA9YaBVsIo?feature=share

      @hwerrell Thanks man. It doesn't always make a difference but I've got so used to doing it now and it takes about the same time to use both methods I just go with the one not likely to cause issues 😅

      @joshua42777 I love Box Cutter. It's an amazing addon and I pretty much use it got 90-95% of my normal boolean workflow. It's so powerful, especially in combination with Hard Ops.

    • @ArtisansofVaul
      @ArtisansofVaul  ปีที่แล้ว

      You'd either play around with the points manually (with the boolean cleanup function in mesh machine it doesn't take too long) or use an addon like quad remesher

    Pretty amazing work you do on this chan, it's a crime you don't have more views or followers. I think if you did some timelapse videos of making full 40k models, (just as 3D art, not for printing) to compliment your current content, you could pick up a ton of viewers. Don't know how comfortable you are in sculpting and such though (to make like daemons and stuff), but at least marines etc could be made with normal hardmodelling workflow :)

    • @ArtisansofVaul
      @ArtisansofVaul  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks so much. I never know what that's what people want to see but would be happy to do some hard surface full time laps. Sculpting is something I really want to work on in the future as a focus area for me to improve. I started with hard surface so it would be good to branch out.

    • @aknutal
      @aknutal ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ArtisansofVaul Definitely :) I'm the same, started just hardsurface but slowly learning to sculpt. I just think something like a timelapse of a full space marine would attract viewers. I was searching for one, but most are for zbrush or just old and not of very good quality. Definitely would be cool, as some of your chaos models are amazing looking. Keep up the good work :D

      @Dennis Ooms That's fair. I'm just used to it now and prefer the layout /hitting Q is automatic for me at this point there Alt+E isn't.
