    I am not able to get G to do anything while holding Ctrl to enable snapping dots. I am testing on Blender 4.0. There appears to be hotkeys assigned by blender to Ctrl+G, for collection grouping, but even disabling those does not work. Is there an option I missed to be able to access the grid like that without explicitly turning it on/off in the top bar?

    • @ArtisansofVaul
      @ArtisansofVaul  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      So I think this is a conflict with Machine Tools, so you would want to turn off the grouping option in there.

      I think they should work on all platforms but I have to say that I haven't tested that. At the time of recording this I was working on a laptop so it worked fine and was pretty decent but I wouldn't say it was hugely powerful as it was about 3 years old.

      Ctrl brings up the "spots" at corners, middle of edges and centre of the face. Or it does it you have the settings at the top as I have. Importantly your mouse needs to be over the object as you press it.

    Hi, I am a great fan of your teaching style it's helped me alot. I have found a glitch with the Grid section of the video and wondered if you could repeat it. I have the cube and I am able to take one cube away from every face. If I try to use the same technique to do a second on any face it doesn't extrude correctly and leaves the shape of the extrude with a grey face. I tried applying all previous boolean cuts and trying again but I get the same result. Any ideas? Thanks

    Hello. How to edit previous cuts with boxcutter interface?

    • @ArtisansofVaul
      @ArtisansofVaul  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Edit in what way? Generally the standard of editing the object that it creates as a cutter. This becomes really easy if you have HardOps as well (I always suggest getting them together ad the bundle is cheaper) as you can press Q then everscroll to scroll through the cutters acting on an object. Otherwise you can just find the cutter in the object outliner, boxcutter should have made a seperate collection called "cutters" they will be in.

  • @TacoSlayer06
    @TacoSlayer06 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Hey, I'm just learning right now from scratch from your videos, but incase you didn't know, you can bevel the outside AND the inside in one operation. Under the D menu, while the cut is tabbed with a basic bevel applied, click the drop down ">" next to "main bevel" then select "bevel both ends" and "bevel back face" (located just to the right of the "main bevel" title in any order). Finally, click the “double arrow” “flip” option next to the 2nd bevel title to make the outer bevel appear. 2nd bevel now controls the outside and main bevel controls both interior bevels. If you keep clicking those two options in weird combinations you can get some really wacky bevels, for instance you can bevel the inside of the outside edge (think the cutter is a generic cube beveled on all edges). Anyways thanks for teaching me so far!

But I'm finding if you do not add a sub surf with at min 32 sub D and apply it before hand it is warping and other craziness w/ the mesh around the booleans after it's applied after smoothing the mesh. @@ArtisansofVaul Hello! At 21:19 in the video i'm notice you are able to grab the corners of your cutter. For some reason, the corner dots on my cutter aren't appearing. I'm tried the short cut to bring up dots, and i'm only able to see the extrude, reshape, and bevel dots. Any idea why this is?

      found it... for anyone wondering, on viewport shading there is an option called cavity. Enable cavity.

      There is also a few more things you can do to make it even clearer. I'll drop a video on Monday to go through them. Sorry for the delayed reply. You might also like these videos as they have some other settings you might like and how to make them work automatically on startup:
