You have a great way of explaining the "But why" parts of things! I have watched so many tutorials on some of these tools and I use them, and i get frustrated with not getting the results I want.. One video from you and I I jump forward weeks!!!
That's great to hear John. 😁 Some people complain that it takes time but I think it's really important to understand so it's great to know when people are of a like mind 😁👍🏻
the SSelect function can be combined with select loop and hard edges. now there maybe some way to detect cluster of hard edges that is common with our selection.
That's a good plan. There's quite a lot too them and Machin3s own videos are pretty good on them if you've seen them. But I'll add it to the list for sure. 👍🏻
Oh hi there question for you. There's one video where you show off an alternative to the mirror function using either hardops pr meshmachine which keeps the origin points the same and effectively copy pastes the item but mirrored and in the correct location. Do you remember what video that was in or am i imaging things?
@@ArtisansofVaul Hmm wasn't that, the video had you very briefly showing off your Saturnine terminator model but I can't find it. At this stage I think I might have just imagined it, you mentioned how mirroring made things impossible to individually pose.
@@luketfer Ahh.... I think I know what you mean now. You're right, that was using the scale function but meaning it could then allow you to apply changes and add other objects using the relative align feature. Its at the end of this video: th-cam.com/video/Q64XkWX_WzI/w-d-xo.html
It kind of surprises me that L-select isn't built into Blender already. Seems like it would be straightforward to select the next edge that's closest to being in a straight line. I love the offset cut, but I didn't follow what the difference "resample" was making.
The resampling makes the breaks in the offset cut (the perpendicular lines) closer or further apart. I think it does more than just use the look for what is close to a straight line, I think it looks at more than just that.
@@ArtisansofVaul Oh! I see. So without that, it only uses the same number of verts that's already on the edge it's offset-cutting. I don't know why I didn't see that the first time, especially given the obvious name the option has.
@@darrennew8211 I should have explained it better to be fair. Thats why for sharper corners you don't want to use it as it will replace the vert thats on the corner ruining the shape.
Man, I just need to stay off your channel. I was watching this video on accident and it nagged me about these many edges of many attached meshes I was just going to ignore - but now i feel compelled to fix. I already sort of fixed it transferring the normals with mesh machine and it looks fine with the shader. I’m having a real internal dilemma with these time setbacks but I’ll be more satisfied with a clean mesh - even though it doesnt matter and no one will know. But I’ll know. I’ll just promise myself (again) next time I model something involved to either do proper topology from the beginning or double promise under some sort of penalty to stick with my fast and dirty decision and not go back and fix things later. My obit is going to say I died from acute OCD. Time to find a find a good background movie and get knitting. I dig your consistency and flavor formula Mr Artisans but I’m afraid I do need some space, you’re agitating my condition. But I’m looking forward to the next MM one anyway. I just hope it’s not any good. Maybe I’ll just mute the sound and squint so I can’t tell what’s going on. Dammit, I got my medications mixed up again. Where are my lucky socks?
🤣 Lmao. Thanks for that. I get pretty similar but I have trained myself to not worry so much about geometry being perfectly "clean" as often it doesnt need to be for 3D printing. But I can totally understand needing to scratch that itch 😉

Thanks for showing this very cool tool, I can see where this would be useful!
No problem. I hope you find a load of applications for it. 😁
I got that feelling that this channel would get 100k subs in 3-8 months max
Haha. That would be cool but it's slower going than that I'm afraid. Maybe I have an annoying voice 😅
Thanks though 😁

Do you mean sharp edges? I just want to check I'm not missing a function I don't know about? 😁
@@ArtisansofVaul I mean the tool can be improved like that

I could be completely wrong so sorry if this is just unhelpful but was that construction lines by any chance? I’m sure that has that feature

It's all from Machine Tools. A free addon. You can find it here: machin3.gumroad.com/l/MACHIN3tools

Please help me, im install meshmachine i can cut figure in another, but then i want to connect i dont see this edge at the junction. 😢
Have you applied the boolean?

the Y short cut is not working for me
Have you installed Mesh Machine? It's a bought addon that needs to be added to Blender.
i have got the free version of MM is that why i dont have access to that feature?
