He didn't have friends in the comics at first. The whole reason he let the burglar go is because Ben and May were the only people who were ever kind to him and "the rest of the world can go hang."
Had to come back and comment on how Maso TOTALLY CALLED IT. Spoilers for no way home I guess, but they literally improve the old suit by burning some raggedy clothes on top of it.

If they did the third movie right it could’ve gone on to have something like 6 movies I believe. Possibly even leading into an ultimate Spider-Man spinoff where miles would take over after Peter was too old. They certainly had the talent for it, along with the villains. Mysterio, electro, venom (if they didn’t do him in this third movie), vulture, etc. you know Spider-Man’s roster, I don’t need to tell you them
the creation of Miles Morales is directly linked to a petition to get Donald Glover cast as Peter Parker in TASM1, so if the series just continued with Tobey Maguire and was never rebooted, Miles wouldn't have ever been created.

During the emo Peter scene, I can't believe there was no mention of the whispered, "now dig on this" line. That might have been the most laughable part of the whole ridiculous thing.
Even until this day I still adore those opening title sequences, mostly thanks to Elfman's (And Young's) amazing score. It's something that I've sorely missed eversince TASM1 hit the big screens
I love that J Jonah Jameson Vs Green Goblin scene. He's not protecting Peter because he loves him, and he doesn't even know who the heck spider man really is. He's protecting Peter because it's the right thing to do FOR THE BUGLE. If you are well known for never giving up your sources then you keep a lot more sources.
You can pry the extra long soundtrack filled opening credits from my cold, dead hands. The rest of it you can feel how you do, but that's such a wonderful part.
The first Spider-Man movie is still my favorite Marvel based movie ever. Not only am I nostalgic for it but I legitimately think it's a great representation of the character and comics.
Except he didn’t meet Mary Jane in high school but college and Gwen Stacy was his high school girlfriend. The fact his webshooters are organic and not made by him taking away from the fact how smart and creative Peter Parker is. Besides major problems like that yeah sure it’s just like the comics
@@jewsco I didn't say it was just like the comics. it isn't completely accurate to them but it captures the feel and over the top nature of the old Spider-Man comics. I suppose should've worded it better. You could tell sam raimi was a fan and his version of peter feels like a shy nerd and his Spider-Man cracks dumb jokes and is heroic just like spidey should be. None of the live action spider-men are completely comic accurate and yes this version took some liberties but it got the spirit of the comics right and was a fun action adventure that accomplished bringing the wall crawler to the big screen. If you don't like this version that's fine but I do think raimi delivered better than any other director has with the character.
You know, I was really starting to think they were going over the trilogy again, but then I heard some phrases that I’ve heard from the previous version and thought I was in a time paradox for a moment
it's funny that you guys point out the two scenes that were cut from the director's cut that you didn't like, and they're both my favorite scenes in the movie XD I love aunt May, she's so sweet, I can never get enough of her! And that bit with the butler is great, gives depth to a character that until then was barely an extra. Harry wouldn't believe Peter when he told him what happened, but it makes sense that he would believe it coming from his butler
I was so hyped for Spiderman. I saw it 3 times in the theater. Spiderman 2 is still a classic as far as I'm concerned. Jesus Christ....I just realized it's been 18 years since this came out.

This is a long-running thing, immediately prior to Superior Spider-Man he's basically on the verge of dying from all the years of beatings he's gotten from superheroes
Apparently Sam Raimi pitched a version of the ending where Venom separates from Eddie and he's just a warped mutated skeleton because it has completely consumed him. The execs vetoed it because it was too metal and awesome.
I was a kid when Spider-Man came out, I didn't read the comics but I knew the character BECAUSE of this movie, (I was born in '97) and I thought Green Goblin looked _great._ It made total sense to me and heres why 1: It's a scary-looking _helmet_ and he's on a glider 99% of the time, so it makes sense he'd wear a racer/motorcycle helmet because if/when he crashes he's gotta protect his face. 2: He's trying to get revenge or intimidate people in his everyday life so it should be a scary monster face he can take on and off. Why wouldn't he want to cover/protect most of his face? 3: Ghostface was a popular _classic_ children's halloween costume growing up in the early 2000s (because I had NO IDEA where it came from until almost a decade later) so a basic large face with a baked-on unmoving expression and raspy loud voice just read as "yeah, that's _scary/evil/dangerous"_ rather than anything else. I kinda agree, Green Goblin with a normal/organic face just always read as _too much_ to me, or too alien, especially because Spider-man always fights _people_ or genuine monsters like Lizard or Morbius, Morbius can't take off his face and Lizard is more like a Were-reptile that organically changes, so having a MASK that looks like an organic monster just feels... weird. idk. but that's just my upbringing/opinion. I also really liked Power Rangers so was normalized with helmeted action/acting.

My bestfriend growing up and i used to get in trouble at school cause for some reason whenever one of us would say "Peter...tell Harry I'm sorry" the other would instantly die laughing

@Luc Germain I missed the part where that's my problem
I’ll always remember seeing this and Peter Parker being the hero of the movie and so genuinely hated by all his peers at high school made me absolutely terrified of the concept of high school as a 5 year old child not to mention the fact everyone there had apparently been held back for 10 years
It's crazy that they don't realize how important Tobey being capable of action is. There were a lot of great fights where you could see it was Peter.
Thank you for addressing the physical disparity between Spider-Man and Doc Ock. No way Doc tanks Spidey's punches.
He didn't have friends in the comics at first. The whole reason he let the burglar go is because Ben and May were the only people who were ever kind to him and "the rest of the world can go hang."
You didn't mention that he wrestled freaking "Macho Man" Randy Savage!!! 😭

Had to come back and comment on how Maso TOTALLY CALLED IT. Spoilers for no way home I guess, but they literally improve the old suit by burning some raggedy clothes on top of it.
Peter actually knows how to play the piano because aunt may teaches piano because in Spider-Man 2 she says that she started doing piano lessons again to get some money even though she didn’t
she was actually just hooking
@@Derek_Keenan that's the seedy side of Parker's family, unfortunately.
@@Life-Row-Toll they've got some pretty dark skeletons in their closets tbh. i mean, there was that one comic where child Peter Parker gets groomed and then sexually assaulted by one of his older friends named Skip (actually 100% true)
@@Derek_Keenan Sounds like a true Disney production. I'm they'll try to aquire the property, outright, sooner or later 🤔.
@@Derek_Keenan anything for more tobey
The guy with glasses in the fight is kinda famous for being background actor, his name is Jesse Heiman
:D
Yeah he's been in quite a few famous scenes.
He had that super bowl commercial where a hot model kissed him and he's been in a million TV shows and movies as "dorky guy".
I went looking for this comment, lol
The glasses and curly hair guy in thr school fight scene has his own television universe in which he appears in many TV shows as the same guy, chuck for 1 he's a main background cast. I'm sure he's in parks and rec and many more without imdbing him but maybe worth a short video of his greateast hits.
I feel like I say him in the background of Community as well.
He also got to make out with Gigi Hadid for a commercial.
@@idontevencarewhathtissays He's a side character in Community
He's a character known mostly as Cabbage Patch, in Chuck.
That’s “the most famous extra” I worked on show that had him on it. He got his own trailer. Look it up 👍
That curly haired guy was actually a really prominent extra in that era. I can’t recall any of the specifics but there was a few year period where he was in dozens of movies and commercials.
Yeah I thought he looked familiar
Just seeing JJ. Jameson's character again makes me want to watch this movie again just for him
How could college students possibly afford to see a Broadway show so many times anyway? Are they stock brokers?
He may have gotten a comp ticket since Mary Jane was in the show. And of course, Harry Osborn's got his daddy's money.

During the emo Peter scene, I can't believe there was no mention of the whispered, "now dig on this" line. That might have been the most laughable part of the whole ridiculous thing.

Aunt May used to give piano lessons so I'm sure Peter knows how to play
I love that J Jonah Jameson Vs Green Goblin scene. He's not protecting Peter because he loves him, and he doesn't even know who the heck spider man really is. He's protecting Peter because it's the right thing to do FOR THE BUGLE. If you are well known for never giving up your sources then you keep a lot more sources.

The first Spider-Man movie is still my favorite Marvel based movie ever. Not only am I nostalgic for it but I legitimately think it's a great representation of the character and comics.
2 was better
It’s so good for me that I am completely fine with ignoring the bad parts
I mean, it's not, but good on you for enjoying it.
Except he didn’t meet Mary Jane in high school but college and Gwen Stacy was his high school girlfriend.
The fact his webshooters are organic and not made by him taking away from the fact how smart and creative Peter Parker is.
Besides major problems like that yeah sure it’s just like the comics
@@jewsco
I didn't say it was just like the comics. it isn't completely accurate to them but it captures the feel and over the top nature of the old Spider-Man comics.
Dude, Raimi's Spider-Man 1&2 are fantastic. X-Men 1 and Spider-Man 1 & 2 paved the way for Marvel to be the powerhouse it is today.
You know, I was really starting to think they were going over the trilogy again, but then I heard some phrases that I’ve heard from the previous version and thought I was in a time paradox for a moment
"i've come to bargain."
it's funny that you guys point out the two scenes that were cut from the director's cut that you didn't like, and they're both my favorite scenes in the movie XD I love aunt May, she's so sweet, I can never get enough of her! And that bit with the butler is great, gives depth to a character that until then was barely an extra. Harry wouldn't believe Peter when he told him what happened, but it makes sense that he would believe it coming from his butler
I was so hyped for Spiderman. I saw it 3 times in the theater. Spiderman 2 is still a classic as far as I'm concerned.

re: Doc Ock - he was defeated in his first appearance by just one punch to the face - getting to the man past the tentacles just took Spider-Man in the whole issue!
Raimi took that idea from a comic where Eddie has terminal cancer and is basically a corpse that's kept alive by Venom never leaving his body.
James predicted Willem Dafoe Green Goblin coming back and Michael Keaton returning as Batman, incredible
I was a kid when Spider-Man came out, I didn't read the comics but I knew the character BECAUSE of this movie, (I was born in '97) and I thought Green Goblin looked _great._ It made total sense to me and heres why
1: It's a scary-looking _helmet_ and he's on a glider 99% of the time, so it makes sense he'd wear a racer/motorcycle helmet because if/when he crashes he's gotta protect his face.
