To follow on from this video there will be a peg-by-peg look at each of the islands contours and margins BEFORE the lake is full of water again to give you a great heads-up about your peg when you fish this lake in future!
One of the exciting things about fishing un-managed lakes years ago (1970s etc) was that you never really knew what was in the lake. There was always the possibility in your mind that you might just catch something really special. I enjoy commercial lakes as much as the next man but I think knowing exactly what is in there spoils it a bit.
Just found your videos and love what you do, I regret not going into agricultural and fishery management when I left school would be a dream job to have
Great vid Jamie, some of the banks on Haverholme are over 1.50m undercut, keep telling the pikers, but they take no notice insted of chucking 20m out they would be better off 20cm from the bank lol
I managed to get there as well in January Jamie, before the digger started on the west side of the pond. Very interesting to see the deepest bits halfway between the bank and the island. When i fished it on a cold december day i caught well between the islands for a while then they backed off into that deeper water and i luckily had fed a line there after seeing your video on Bonsai a few weeks ago. Had a good mixed net in that deeper water on the feeder in the last 2 hours. Looks like the lake will now have some even deeper bits which should bode well for next winter
Last time I fished it. It had 4 lakes the carp lake which was only a foot deep, willows , trout lake and 1 massive course lake. How times have changed there.
That lake didn't exist the last time I was there, heck, Benny's, Loco & Strip were still one big lake and Willows had only recently been cut off from them.
Can't wait to see the next video as we have a match on bonsai lake at the end of June have always liked there as the variety of fish always makes it fun tight lines 🎣🎣🎣⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
@@CatchFishingChannel worth doing why it's empty, At least you will know your in for a gruler in the depths of winter in the shallower pegs lol. Goo luck with it 👍
Why don't you get them to net off a 10ft wide lane from each peg too so you select exactly which fish you want to catch? How about divers in each peg? If the fish aren't biting they can stick one on the end of your line every 10 mins or so to curb the boredom. 🤣
As I have said before Jamie, I love these behind the scenes videos, probably more than many of the fishing videos, as we are seeing stuff we wouldn't normally see or experience. Well done and thank you. I have personally fished near you on a number of matches on natural waters, although never actually had a conversation with you, however one match a few years back I got roped into doing the weigh in on our section because the scales man took ill during the match, you drew a crap peg but fished the tits out of it and although you were nowhere in the result, you still had a lovely bag of little silvers, which concluded you had been busy all day, it was pretty impressive, so after I weighed you in, I gave you a pat on the back and I think I did so a bit too robustly, so the look on your face was one of having your breakfast knocked out of you, sorry about that, I didn't realise my own strength lol.
Missed a massive trick with this silt should of got in contact with local farmers for the silt as fertilizer then it dont cost you to get trailers in farmer tractors and trailors give them silt for free

Very very interesting love The big Eel. Nice one Jamie.
Thank you for the video !
Jeez cant believe just how undercut the banks were .You would expect the islands being undercut but some of the pegs itself looked really dangerous.

I hope they are going to do something about the undercut banks where the pegs are, they look dangerous

Be cool if you could supply a map showing the depths of every peg contors and features and make them available for purchase.
That would be cool.
Nice idea that mate

@@RustyShackleford66 if you find match fishing boring then I think you need to give it up as a bad habit lol.

On the Isle of Axholme in Lincolnshire: the only part of Lincolnshire that is west of the River Trent.
What happened to Eric the eel
What's the point in fishing a lake where you know what exactly is in it? Bait fishing is rather odd to me!
These lakes are now the most popular here in England mate!
“One of the best known lakes in the country”…. I have fished for 40 years and never heard of the place, it’s no redmire or windermere is it?
The other vid done by the young woman is much better that this copy ☺️
