my obgyn said the insertion wouldn’t hurt at all - it then proceeded to be the worst pain i’ve ever felt in my life thus far. I felt nauseous and couldn’t even stand because i was shaking so bad. I’m terrified to get it out but this video made me feel better. I wish we had sweeter obgyn’s like you
I had the same experience... It was the worst pain ever. If I knew that, I wouldn't have decided to get it. My cervix is now traumatized - it's extremely sensitive. I'm so scared for taking it out, especially that my strings are not visible.
I was also told that it would be painless and experienced a large amount of pain. I was also told that there would be no change to my monthly cycle (I was getting it for birth control and was asking what to expect after insertion). It's been 5 years and I'm scared to have it removed. This video helped a ton!
Same. The insertion was uncomfortable and I can handle pain pretty well. The cramping after insertion was mind boggling. I had to lock my office door at work and lay on the floor writhing in pain. Two days in a row. I thought I was going to pass out and throw up from the pain.
I got my IUD removed yesterday and it was so much easier than getting it put in. I had the kyleena. I had all the worst symptoms for all 5 years. Glad for it to be gone but I am appreciative for what it did for me all that time
Thank you for saying it is painful to have them inserted, my doctors said i would mostly be uncomfortable and have a little pain, which was a lie for me
This is exactly what I needed! I’ve had mine for 5 years and am getting it removed in a couple weeks. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge! Great video.
As someone going through the mirena crash for the last few months (and yes its a real thing and it sucks the life out of you) i wanna thank you for reaffirming that whole foods, nutrients and self care like exercise is key in getting through rough months as alot of us suffer from autoimmune issues during and after removal thanks to this horrid device.
Oh my goodness if I knew it would hurt going in I wouldn’t have done it but I am terrified to get it out … I wish you were actively making vids you’re awesome
Omg thank goodness it's that easy.. I had my first IUD put in today and it was so incredibly painful I didn't even think about the removal I prepared myself for absolute hell again and already thinking that I'll be left with it inside me forever 😂 please god let it be that easy to remove for me 😇
I'm getting my Mirena taken out after 7 years. Originally they told me it was good for 5, but they kept extending the expiration date. I decided to give my body a break though before I have another one inserted in the near future.
Thank you for this video. I had a paragard removal attempt on the 24th but when she pulled it out, one of the top arms stayed inside me. I had an ultrasound and now I have to have hysteroscopy. I'm so nervous and wish I had never gotten an IUD in the first place. I joined a lawsuit against the pharmaceutical company that made the IUD so this is not as rare as people think.
It was successful but painful. I wouldn't say it was excruciating but it hurt a lot and I have a high pain tolerance and I haven't had any babies. If I had to do it again I would do conscious sedation. I got pain meds after. I take the mini pill now and have had no serious side effects. I'm sure your wife will do fine.
First IUD I had was Skyla. It was amazing! I got a very light period probably once every 3 months. Little to no symptoms. When I went in to get it replaced, they told me Skyla wasn't available so I got Kyleena. When they took Sklya out, I cramped right away and It didn't go away for like 10 minutes. The doctor told me to push through so she could place in Kyleena. I really don't like Kyleena. My symptoms have become worse, I have chronic migraines now and varied symptoms every month. I guess the only good thing is that my period is regular. I know exactly when it's coming. Getting this removed tomorrow, I'm so ready! 🙌
This is really helpful. I removed my iud three days ago. And I experienced heavy bleeding on the 4th day, I was really worried. Thanks for this video.❤❤❤
@@sshehla4317 I took mine out 2 days ago. You shouldn't feel any severe pain. It feels like pressure and a pinch with slight cramping as it is coming out. Make sure you're pulling very gently and take breaks if you need to. The slight cramping will last a few minutes.
Thank you so much for making this video! You are very informational and comforting as well. I am getting my mirena removed Friday after 5 years and this was very helpful in preparing me. Going to watch the rest of your videos on the topic now. New subscriber!
I had to get a hysteroscopy IUD removal, which was minor surgery. I hope no one else has this happen to them. My strings were not where they should have been. This was very helpful for post removal.
Thank you so much for this. I had an awful experience with a doctor asking for advice to remove IUD as I kept getting BV and doctor said to me I was unhygienic :( when that’s so untrue ! Anyways I trusted my body and got it removed yesterday🙏🏽 I really hope that this helps with this BV issue as it’s becoming so embarrassing for me as I have a long term relationship
I've had some weird imbalances ever since getting my IUD as well. Looking to get it removed as well because I've ruled out all other possibilities by changing even out laundry detergent and my body wash. Nothing helps. Only consistant is the IUD, this all started about 2 months after having it and it's been up and down since
@@dualitylmd5188 yup it’s the IUD. I don’t know why providers won’t officially correlate this. Very few will acknowledge this, but most will say it’s unrelated. They would rather blame the patient instead of this device. I can’t wait to get this crap out in a couple days.
I removed my IUD after 7 years, then out of nowhere in 26 days cycle I got this random 2 days period, Im so scared I suffer from PCOS this video helped me alot
Thank you so much for this helpful video! I'm due to take out my Paragard in a few days because of a number of unpleasant side effects, one of them being irregular periods and frequent bleeding, after 16months of insertion😔. I'm not looking to get pregnant, so I will definitely be checking out your video on fertility awareness and planning options. Thank you again 😇
I used to have the Paragard and was so sick of the same side effects you've listed! I was having two week periods (like half of my year I was on my period UGH)! And this was also literally 16 months after insertion - my body never adjusted contrary to what is normally told to us. I got mine out yesterday and feel great! Good luck on your journey!
@@Selenas627 I hear you! So glad you had yours removed as well and feeling better. It's been almost 2weeks since I had mine removed and funny as this sounds I can almost hear my body sighing and going "Thank you! Thank you." I definitely feel a whole lot better. If you don't mind me asking what options are you considering for birth control? RN hubby and I are relying on condoms, took chicken to have anything installed or take any pills. My Dr's office suggested Phexxi gel.
hello dear, im just that being curios about it, it was a case for my mom, she been on IUD 6 yrs. maybe is a manupausal period since shes is 52yrs. old now its ok to remove the IUD soon as possible in OB? how much it cost if ever? im just that worried my mom, thats why i need your quick advice plz.
If a copper IUD is removed on the day of ovulation is it safe to get pregnant immediately? Does the removal affect the lining of the uterus that would need to be a certain way for healthy implanting of an embryo?
I’ve had the copper IUD for a week and am getting it taken out bc the cramps are killing me. Almost crying and hurts to move. Getting it put in was the most painful thing I have ever experienced, I passed out on the way home in the middle of crying in pain. Update: I got it taken out after 5 days of having it. Again, excruciating pain. 20 mins on the way home I was having a full on panic attack and couldn’t relax any part of my body bc I was in so much pain. After laying on a heating pad at home for about 10 minutes the 5 day pain was completely gone. I’ve heard it doesn’t hurt nearly as bad to take it out for some people. Looking back, it was horrible and I’d never recommend it to anybody just bc of that traumatic experience. The dr who took it out was very rough with my body when she opened my legs, didn’t give me a warning and just ripped it out and I was screaming in pain and said something along the lines of “hope you feel better have a good day”then walked out. I could hardly walk to the car. My husband was there every step of the process thankfully. They really need to knock us ladies out before inserting them.
Taking it out was just as bad and I had a panic attack which made it worse since all my senses were heightened. As soon as the cramps went away I was completely fine. They only lasted about 30 minutes. I had no bad symptoms other than those cramps. I’m so happy I got it removed
I’m going to see an NP at the end of April for removal. It would be 6 years end of may. I’m so ready to have this out!! I am scared of the strings being hard to find or the iud itself being stuck, I’ve read about those things happening and the strings thing seems especially common. I know mine tucked up into the cervix, just hoping they’re still easily visualized like when I had gone for a check up when I could feel them.
Hey can you update us on the strings being missing and how they got it out if you went through with it? Mines are tucked in as well and I have to get mines out as well but I am afraid they wont be able to get the IUD out of me easy because of this. Please update us❤
I have endometriosis and my gyno recommended an IUD. I got in December 2020. I’m getting it removed today, May 2021. I’ve bleed every single day since Dec 2. But the bleeding isn’t the main reason I’m getting it out. I’ve had this pain Thats around my butt and shoots down my leg and up my spine. More painful than any cramps I’ve ever had and comes at any moment.
I have adenomyosis and after years of refusing all contraceptives I had an iud "installed" 1 week ago. Ive been getting something similar. If its not going to go away I wont waste anymore energy and have it removed. You may have saved me months of my life.
I'm going to the doctor on Friday and I'm soo worried but not so much now! Thank you so much for the video. You're voice is so calming and reassuring. 🤗
I am scheduled to have mine removed in 10 days and I have had it almost 13 years. I can’t even remember if the insertion was painful or not. I didn’t have any issues with insertion or over the past 13 years while I’ve had it in. I’m wanting to start over (my youngest is almost 13 years old) so here we go.... How was the removal for you?
@@doggiestylepetresort Have you had the same IUD in that long? I’ve had Mirena for 7 years. I know they say that they “expire” in 5 years but I’ve had no issues, no period. Curious about your experience has been if it’s been the same device. Wondering if I can go a little longer. And yes, should and will talk with my doc but also curious about other women’s experiences. 🙃
Thanks for the information about what food to eat was very helpful. I just got my IUD removed and another one put in on March 31_2021. It was painful then on top of that my period came on. I'm a little sore and the cramping in a couple of days I'll be fine. Again great video learn alot
Thank you for this, I had the mirena hormonal iud put in my uterus after my last cesarean section and it's been 5 months but I now have messages from my doctors after I had my pelvic scan last week that I will need it removed as it's been mispositioned and they want me to get another one 🥴
I got the mirena iud a month ago and I thought I was getting the copper one. I didn’t know it was the mirena one until they gave me the paper. I am currently breastfeeding and my supply was really good but after a month of my iud I can barely get an ounce and it’s so frustrating. 😭😭😭😭😭
I’ve had mine for 5 months… in conjunction with Nuvaring for endometriosis. I’ve gained weight especially around my belly and it’s impossible to exercise without cramps so it’s a double edge sword. Sucks! And this week I’m feeling insane fatigue / lethargy and can’t rly exercise. I want this OUT OF MY BODY. I used nuvaring by itself for months and it was not this bad at all.
Maybe little bit strange question, but if you get your unexpired Mirena removed after 2-3 years, are you still able to reuse it perhaps after 3 to 6 months again? I mean the same exact one that came out or does it have to be completely brand new?
I got the copper iud three years ago. Best experience ever! Thankfully my doctor saw I was feeling discomfort so she actually applied a numbing solution; didn’t feel a thing. I’m a bit nervous for the iud removal but this gave me strength👏❤️ Edit: I can feel the strings when I check with my finger; does that mean it’s still in a good place? ☺️
I noticed over the years with mirena, ive gained A LOT of weight. If i get it taken out amd wait a few months and then go on the pill, will i gain weight?
Got my IUD removed yesterday, I realize I’ve been bleeding like crazy for the past months and the moment I took it out. There’s been no blood. NEVER again.
I had my iud for 4 years and never got a period. However recently I started getting really bad acne, dizzy spells and headaches and someone said those symptoms are side effects of my iud. Is that true? I now want to remove my iud but the strings are no longer visible. I'm so worried about it now.
What about when it’s not straightforward having it removed? My GP tried to remove it but couldn’t as it was too painful and I’ve been referred to the hospital to have it removed tomorrow and I’m terrified! Sorry if you cover this in your video, I’m still watching it at the moment
Sorry, they still couldn’t do it! I then got referred for a hysteroscopy and they STILL couldn’t remove it 🙈. The consultant told me it would be OK for another year and that I would have to have it removed via general anaesthetic in May this year … wish me luck!
No, my appointment was last May but I had to cancel it because I wasn’t well, which I did in time, and they then discharged me!! So I had to start the process again and my appointment now is this May! So the saga continues!
I've had my Kylena for 4 years and never had a period. This week I started a period. And next week I have scheduled to take it out. Will this be a problem?
Hi there, nope not at all! While not getting a period is common with Kyleena it is also possible to still bleed from time to time. It will not interfere with removal.
Oh youre so lucky. I have had my kylena in for a year now and never stopped bleeding, doctors told me to just wait for my body to adjust. I made an appointment for today to take it out, i hope it will stop the bleeding and the pain.
@@user-kd7ch1be6u sorry to hear that :( i am in a similar situation with over 15days in a month bleeding, my doctor said it is my body adjusting... it has been 6 months so i am thinking to take it out and thinking maybe my body is telling me it is not for me. Can you please tell me did it get better for you after removal? Ty and wishing you the best!
When i got mine inserted it was a piece of cake... The removal, however.... Wouldn't wish that pain on anyone. Also i wasn't shown the iud after it was removed, but that could be bc i had a severe panic attack. 🤷
Thank you so much for your video! I thought I would be fine right after getting the UID out 🥲 I got the Kyleena IUD to help with possible endometriosis and it's been worse than what I had going on pre-UID. I've had it for a couple of weeks and I don't think it's worth the pain and suffering.
i currently have the kyleena iud i’ve had it in for almost 4 months doctors told me i’d bleed to death if i didn’t get some kind of birth control i’ve had my period for 6 years and been on 5 different birth controls ive missed many days of school and work i’ve missed tons of outings due to the pain and bleeding i have. my doctors are just now looking into endometriosis after years of traumatizing and extreme pain. i’ve heard from multiple people an iud would be great so i got one and the inserting part was horrifying but i have been cramping severely every single day for the past 4 months and i’m not sure if i should get it out or keep waiting but my pain is so bad i can’t get out of bed or i’m up in the middle of the night i need to take ibuprofen 800 every 6 hours to have any relief but doing that makes me super nauseous i miss work im watching videos now about removal because i’m super nervous for the pain and i’m not sure if i should continue waiting to see if it will work eventually or if i should take it out now due to how bad my pain is
It shouldn’t make you cramp constantly. I have mine now 8-9 months. I didn’t have any cramping. Also very regular cycle, up till last month I all of the sudden didn’t got my period anymore. I only sometimes have some cramps after sex. But that is like once in a few months. So I guess that it should not feel uncomfortable. A little cramping once in a while is normal. Just get it out if your body is not doing well on it.
After 6 years removed coper t so now planning foe baby 2 please reply wat about pregnancy ??? After removing iud 3 periods got over when I will be pregnant
I am SO scared of the Mirena crash. The mental mood swings were so scary the first couple months. I am SO afraid that i have kept my IUD in for 7 years. I have made numerous appointments to have it removed but I cancel everytime because I am that afraid. It made me suicidal and worse. I am manageable now, but I am so afraid of the crash that I don't know what to do.
Hi Laura, I’m so sorry to hear this! There are many ways to prepare for this prior that can really help. I provide virtual hormonal balance sessions to address this and it’s a great way to help transition off birth control smoothly. It’s definitely best to schedule an appointment for removal soon as it’s no longer effective against pregnancy either.
I understand and i can only tell you what i would do... First time it was horrible for you coz u didn't expect it... There are big chances it will not happen because your body will go back to the state it was before, my two friends took iud out coz they were very depressed with it and felt such a release when it was out, they disnt experience a crash... They both said that maybe the were feeling like that with iud coz it was not fitting to get more progesterone and as soon as they got it out they felt like their old self... Idk if that is true.. but i do think its much harder when u are not prepared... When you know something could happen u can handle it better than the first time... Stock up a mont before with all the nutriants, vitamins, food, walks... Prepare your body and mind and face it... I believe in you and you can do it! Thats what i will do.. big chances that the fear was for nothing and we will just experience relief! 🎀 Good luck u got this
I removed my iud about a week ago now and first days I had heavy bleeding I had to change my pad every3-4 hours as days went in it became lighter now I’m only spotting , though I am bloated everyday .. hope this helped babbe
I had the mirena for 5 years. Got it out over a month ago. While on the IUD I had a pretty regular 30 day cycle. When I got it out, it took 2 days before the withdrawal bleed started and it lasted 7 days. It’s now day 35 and my back is killing me and my boobs are soooooo sore like before my period. I also thought I was fertility tracking and baby danced with my hubby.. turns out It’s not the same as my usual pattern soooo 🤷🏻♀️😬 I guess I just take a test every 2 weeks if no period
Hi Sarah, yes periods can be irregular for up to 3 months after IUD removal but that doesn’t mean pregnancy isn’t possible so taking a test would be the best thing to check what’s going on. 😊
Hey Sarah, Just read your comment, and my advice to you is...if not pregnant yet, pls first ask your Dr for an HSG test to see whether everything's okay. I had the IUD in for 6 years, removed it and got pregnant 6months later, but ended up in an ectopic. Lost my right fallopian tube...and the only tube left is blocked. Tried some things here and there, but Dr told me only option is IVF...
I currently have the kylenna and I’ve been in pain with it for a year now I had most of the side effects unfortunately. I was originally on the shot and planning to go back will the pain go away?
Hi Jaylin, I'm so sorry to hear that! Definitely check in with your provider to have a more thorough evaluation done to rule out an infection or structural abnormality of your pelvis, a pelvic ultrasound would be helpful. It's important to determine the cause for your pain first to know what will best help.
Same thing happend to me, also i was bleeding for the whole year, i will have it taken out today. I have been to the doctor multiple times for that pain, but they couldnt find anything wrong, i hope the pain and bleeding goes away after i take it out.
Hello can i have advice please im.already removed my merina iud the months of january and feb i have mentrual period in 5days and then march i dont have period anymore until april im so confusing why this happend and i also ligated
Is there anyway if we plan on getting it removed we can request that the provider give some type of pain medication prior to removal? I had mine inserted and honestly it was super painful for me/sorta traumatic.
Hi Nikki, as discussed in the video there is no pain with IUD removal, it's nothing like insertion so pain medication is not necessary. Increase in pressure is typically what is felt as it's removed.
Mine was little painful, like a pinch/some pressure and then a little crampiness. I be honest; I just took some ibuprofen beforehand and a toke of weed Before/after. It was okay after like ten minutes or so.
I have my IUD close to 8 years now but i went for a scan it is still in the right position but i can't find the string and i want to remove it is going to be painful
Ig mine wasn’t so painful due to me getting it after having a baby my body was still stretched and it wasn’t painful at all for me just a slight pressure didn’t hurt as much as those contractions I was having so for everyone the insertion feeling will defer 😅now the removal might feel a lil intense after the SnapBack of having a baby
I had mine on 7 years ago but I’m thinking on getting it out because every time I get my period is a nightmare. The pain is so bad I can’t even live my days happy. I stay home I don’t do nothing because the pain is so bad. Even drinking pain killer it takes forever to take away. 😩
I might be mistaken, maybe you have some different iud but my doctor informed me maximum time for any iud in my country is 5 years.. and that after that it is not releasing any hormone and needs to be take out... I noticed you wrote you have it for 7 years 🥶
I believe you can have it removed any time if you choose so or if something is wrong. I believe the doctor usually has you come back shortly after insertion to make sure it’s in right place and make sure no bad side effects etc. I also remember the first few weeks or months some ppl do have cramps or abnormal bleeding but it’s considered normal, it’s different for everyone like our bodies react differently takes a bit to get “used to it”. I recall having crazy cramps but nothing bizarre, didn’t last long, and I used to get cramps as a child (when first had my period) so again I felt it’s my own body getting used to changes. All this to say you can choose to do what ever you want but talk to doctor and talk to friends or family that had similar procedure to compare what is expected. Everyone is a little different, but it’s nice to know you are not alone if you not feeling 💯 Hope all is well.
I am getting mine removed in a few weeks. They already told me my strings are not visible so I am honestly scared it’s going to hurt. What should I do or ask my doctor?
Mam I completed 5 years of copper t insert now I want to remove due to corona cases I scared visit hospital now I miss periods for last 1 month what should I do is their is a chances of pregnancy
Hi Pranav, if you still currently have the IUD and missed your period then taking a pregnancy test is the first thing you need to do. Other things can cause a missed period but checking for pregnancy first is important.
Hey, thanks for the information. Today , I went to have my Paragard removed ( I’ve had it in for 3 1/2 years) but during those years I noticed hair thinning in my crown, ( I never had it before) weight gain and a few other side effects are what prompted me to have it removed. But during the removal ( the process was easy not painful at all) however one of my iud arms broke inside of while my doctor was trying to remove it. So now I am freaking out, tomorrow I have to go and have a ultrasound done to see if the broken piece is still in my body and where. This sucks and I just wish I never got it… Smh no more iuds for me!

@@giovannaagnelli6752 I'm so sorry to hear that!. This indicates a hormonal imbalance and possible nutritional deficiency as well. Vitamins impact hormone balance. It is not something I have seen often in practice but it can occur.
Thank you so I spotted then next month a cycle now this month nothing but my body feels weird. I suppose to start the nuva ring with the start of my cycle which never came? I still inserted the ring should I take it out ot leave it in how do I keep track?
@Princess Vice hi there, thanks for sharing your experience and I’m sorry that happened to you. I am also a POC and vegan as well. I believe in informed consent which is why I created these videos to educate others so they can make the best choice for them.
Hi Trini, I’m a bit confused with your question. Have you recently started the Nuvaring or have gotten the IUD removed and desire to know when to start the Nuvaring?
I removed the IUD and was suppose to start the nuva ring when my cycle started. Well my cycle never started so I was unsure if I should still insert the ring
@@trinimom7686 got it! That is common to not get a period when expected for up to 3 months after IUD removal. The ring can be started anytime as long as there is certainty there is no pregnancy. If there has been no unprotected intercourses since IUD removal the ring can be started, left in place for 3 weeks followed by removal for 1 week.
The last few times I’ve gone in, the doctor has not been able to locate my strings at all. Ive had an ultrasound, and everything is in the right place, but I am so so nervous for removal.
Hi Krystin, for removal they may use a special instrument that retrieves the strings. If your office has an ultrasound department within the practice that also makes things easier for removal.
Thank god it doesn't hurt removing it. Lol For some reason it didn't hurt much getting it placed within for me. It was like a split second of pinching pain.
How long do I have to wait until I can use other form of contraception (for example pills) after I remove my IUD? I have a copper IUD and the cramps are so bad, I’m thinking of removing it
Hi Dian, there is no need to wait, it can be started right away. Severe cramps is a side effect of the copper IUD and most likely will resolve when removed. If the severe cramping continues it indicates a hormonal imbalance and looking for the root cause of this would be best before initiating the pill.
Hi Nancy, "heavy" could be different for everyone. Its always best you check in with your provider to discuss your personal situation. Depending on the type of IUD you had, sometimes your first period after IUD removal does seem heavier if you were getting light to no periods.

Mine comes out tomorrow 😬 this is after learning the strings are too short, had x-ray, thank God it is in the right place.
Omg thank goodness it's that easy.. I had my first IUD put in today and it was so incredibly painful I didn't even think about the removal I prepared myself for absolute hell again and already thinking that I'll be left with it inside me forever 😂 please god let it be that easy to remove for me 😇
Hi Sarah, I'm sorry to hear that! But yes, removal is quite different from insertion.
It’s very easy just did mine now
Yourself ???
I'm getting my Mirena taken out after 7 years. Originally they told me it was good for 5, but they kept extending the expiration date. I decided to give my body a break though before I have another one inserted in the near future.
I get mine out the 17th. I’m so super anxious because of how traumatic it was getting it in. Your video helped. Thank you 😊
just removed mine today!
Thank you for your honesty 😊
Thank you for this video. I had a paragard removal attempt on the 24th but when she pulled it out, one of the top arms stayed inside me. I had an ultrasound and now I have to have hysteroscopy. I'm so nervous and wish I had never gotten an IUD in the first place. I joined a lawsuit against the pharmaceutical company that made the IUD so this is not as rare as people think.
Hi Jasmine, so sorry to hear that!
I hope I'm not prying, are you okay and was removal successful? I am wondering for my wife's sake. Thanks!
@@jjasminek1115 thanks!
mine was also broken when it came out of me!
I had the exact same experience
This is really helpful. I removed my iud three days ago. And I experienced heavy bleeding on the 4th day, I was really worried. Thanks for this video.❤❤❤
When u remove iud you feel any pain plz tell me i want to remove today am so nervous
@@sshehla4317 no pain, it was quick.
Hi Steph! So happy to hear you found this helpful! :) Welcome!
How did it go? I'm going Friday

@@dualitylmd5188 yup it’s the IUD. I don’t know why providers won’t officially correlate this. Very few will acknowledge this, but most will say it’s unrelated. They would rather blame the patient instead of this device. I can’t wait to get this crap out in a couple days.

I used to have the Paragard and was so sick of the same side effects you've listed! I was having two week periods (like half of my year I was on my period UGH)!
How was it, after removing. I have had it for a week and I can't find peace. It is very painful

@@doggiestylepetresort Hi Lindsay, removal is nothing like insertion, increased pressure is the main symptom. Good luck with your appointment!

Hi Alfreda, thank you! Good luck with your new IUD. :)

Maybe little bit strange question,
but if you get your unexpired Mirena removed after 2-3 years, are you still able to reuse it perhaps after 3 to 6 months again? I mean the same exact one that came out or does it have to be completely brand new?
Ive had mine for 8 years lol im getting it taken out today
I got the copper iud three years ago. Best experience ever! Thankfully my doctor saw I was feeling discomfort so she actually applied a numbing solution; didn’t feel a thing. I’m a bit nervous for the iud removal but this gave me strength👏❤️
Edit: I can feel the strings when I check with my finger; does that mean it’s still in a good place? ☺️

Hi there, nope not at all! While not getting a period is common with Kyleena it is also possible to still bleed from time to time. It will not interfere with removal.

When i got mine inserted it was a piece of cake... The removal, however.... Wouldn't wish that pain on anyone. Also i wasn't shown the iud after it was removed, but that could be bc i had a severe panic attack. 🤷

I thought I would be fine right after getting the UID out 🥲 I got the Kyleena IUD to help with possible endometriosis and it's been worse than what I had going on pre-UID. I've had it for a couple of weeks and I don't think it's worth the pain and suffering.
I got the Kyleena 3 weeks ago and I just got it removed this week. It was nonstop pain 🤦🏾♀️
i currently have the kyleena iud i’ve had it in for almost 4 months doctors told me i’d bleed to death if i didn’t get some kind of birth control i’ve had my period for 6 years and been on 5 different birth controls ive missed many days of school and work i’ve missed tons of outings due to the pain and bleeding i have. my doctors are just now looking into endometriosis after years of traumatizing and extreme pain. i’ve heard from multiple people an iud would be great so i got one and the inserting part was horrifying but i have been cramping severely every single day for the past 4 months and i’m not sure if i should get it out or keep waiting but my pain is so bad i can’t get out of bed or i’m up in the middle of the night i need to take ibuprofen 800 every 6 hours to have any relief but doing that makes me super nauseous i miss work im watching videos now about removal because i’m super nervous for the pain and i’m not sure if i should continue waiting to see if it will work eventually or if i should take it out now due to how bad my pain is
Get it out if you can. I’m getting mine out tomorrow because two years in I’m still getting awful cramping 3-5 times a week.
Thanks alot, one thing I am really trying to find out about how I still have my IUD MIRENA in how I exercise alot and the weight does go away?!

How did it go????
🎀 Good luck u got this
Is heavy and very clotted withdrawal bleeding and severe cramps normal after mirena removal?
I removed my iud about a week ago now and first days I had heavy bleeding I had to change my pad every3-4 hours as days went in it became lighter now I’m only spotting , though I am bloated everyday .. hope this helped babbe
Oh and by the way my doctor told me passing blood clots is common after removal as well
I had the mirena for 5 years.
I also thought I was fertility tracking and baby danced with my hubby.. turns out It’s not the same as my usual pattern soooo 🤷🏻♀️😬
I guess I just take a test every 2 weeks if no period
Hi Sarah, yes periods can be irregular for up to 3 months after IUD removal but that doesn’t mean pregnancy isn’t possible so taking a test would be the best thing to check what’s going on. 😊
Hey Sarah,
Just read your comment, and my advice to you is...if not pregnant yet, pls first ask your Dr for an HSG test to see whether everything's okay.

I have been bleeding like a river since insertion in the 24th and cramps worse than i have ever had.
I be honest; I just took some ibuprofen beforehand and a toke of weed
Before/after. It was okay after like ten minutes or so.
Omg they could remove my IUD! For like 30mins I was in tears so painful and I need to go to the gynecologist to have it removed! Why is that?
Aw I'm so sorry to hear that. That is an uncommon situation but can occur for different reasons, one being if the strings were not visualized.
I have my IUD close to 8 years now but i went for a scan it is still in the right position but i can't find the string and i want to remove it is going to be painful
What happen if you bleed the whole month and I get the iud remove ? I am still gonna bleed again. ?? Or will happen ??
Ig mine wasn’t so painful due to me getting it after having a baby my body was still stretched and it wasn’t painful at all for me just a slight pressure didn’t hurt as much as those contractions I was having so for everyone the insertion feeling will defer 😅now the removal might feel a lil intense after the SnapBack of having a baby
Will the removal bleeding caused by the lack of the hormone release sill occur if you start birth control?
Hi Danielle, great question! It still may occur but sometimes switching to another method after IUD removal reduces the chances.
I had mine on 7 years ago but I’m thinking on getting it out because every time I get my period is a nightmare. The pain is so bad I can’t even live my days happy. I stay home I don’t do nothing because the pain is so bad. Even drinking pain killer it takes forever to take away. 😩
I’m so sorry 😐, if I were you I’d take it out immediately
I might be mistaken, maybe you have some different iud but my doctor informed me maximum time for any iud in my country is 5 years.. and that after that it is not releasing any hormone and needs to be take out... I noticed you wrote you have it for 7 years 🥶
@@kristina4395 paragard, the copper one is good for 10
i was fine on birth control pills
i do not think it has strings
Can I get my iud romeved after a week of insertion?
Everyone is a little different, but it’s nice to know you are not alone if you not feeling 💯
Hope all is well.

Ok mam thanks for your nice advice..
You have the same name as me.
Hi Hannah! I’m glad to hear that 😊
My question is why i have heavy and longer period after my iud removal? Its already a month now..what is it?
Hi there, this is something that would need to be evaluated with your health care practitioner to determine what may be going on.
Thanks! with sub.
Hey I had my IUD removed a month ago got my period yesterday is it normal to bleed heavy ?
Hi Nancy, "heavy" could be different for everyone. Its always best you check in with your provider to discuss your personal situation. Depending on the type of IUD you had, sometimes your first period after IUD removal does seem heavier if you were getting light to no periods.
i will never recommend this form of birth control . it’s painful to have every single day
Do you get any pain after it’s removed such as stomach or back pain?
I got mine out this Tuesday and I've had awful cramps really bad bleeding and my lower back and legs hurt so bad.
This should not typically happen. Always discuss with your provider :)
@@beebeez87sorry to hear that 😟 i had same pain during insertion but it lasted for 2 weeks, i do worry it would be the same when i get the iud out... Can i ask what happened with your situation? I hope it passed soon and everything was back to normal? Ty for your help and sharing
Im getting mine removed tomorrow morning due to severe cramping. I’m also on my period. Will the removal still be a lot easier then the insertion? My experience getting it in was severely painful. Im getting it out only after 4 moths. I have the copper IUD.
How did your removal go?
I removed mine 2days ago
Thanks for sharing!
How did it go?
How are you? Any side effects? Did you take anything after removal eg vitamins etc ?
