I brought conan years ago played it while found it too hard , years later i got inro ark and learned to love hardcore survival then i heard sorcery update came out for conan so cameback when the age of sourcery first started and been playing ever since love it
Only issue i had before originaly was i just wasnt as patient for hard games back then but as i grew as a gamer hard survival became my go to game style so conan became one my most played games pretty fast

Bought it for 5 Euros on sale and having the time of my life! Singleplayer. Beautiful landscapes, weighty combat with stamina, insanely good crafting and building system, excellent music. The whole atmosphere is very unique. Exploring the world, laying bosses, collection stuff, doing dungeons, upgrading weapons is a lot of fun.
Journey system leads through the game but not too much handholding.

They should do what they are doing to Ark 1 and give Conan a Unreal Engine 5 remake/update. Conan would run SO much better and would definitely look even better in Uni 5. I doubt that happens with them pretty much moving on to the Dune game. But this game could be revived with a Unreal Engine 5 remake/update for sure!

Tbh the game looks great, the biggest gripe i have with it is the netcode. Animals shouldn't teleport when there are more than 20 people on the server
Some animals are invisible too, but I agree with you the game looks great

This really is one of those games that wasn't much on release, but became a great one since the devs actually gave a shit and committed to improving and continuously adding more content for free. Not to mention the modding community which has made even more things possible. Definitely still a game worth playing in 2023!
Great video!... I've put this on my Steam wish list now, next time it's on special I'm going to grab it. Seeing as Ark 2 is going to be another year or so away this is great to scratch that itch I think.

No it been fell off from stupidness and greed. They took too long to develop, correct and make the game good, sadly they didn't care for a long time, therefore they compensated by creating a more costly way of getting cosmetics and other essentials.

Conan is a great game. I was playing with my two friends recently, and the new Sorcery update was pretty dope.
Hopefully, they gonna fix some bugs and polish the game. Now I can rate Conan Exiles 8/10

Back when I played, I leveled up a cimmerian berserker to 20 and gave them blade of the adventurer. Then they fell through the map out in the red desert and died making their loot unrecoverable. The log said “thrall died.” Not “died to x.” Lol.

its a great game, be sure to use the interactive map if you struggle in what to do later.. the game doesnt hold your hand, so you have to find the missions, hidden unlocks etc

the only thing i didn't like when I played it a few years ago was the static spawns of mobs. it felt a bit stale because of it always knowing that crocodile would spawn outside my house near the river every time

However i feel this video focuses too much on the prospective of a day one player i just started playing today and here's my oppinion.
Its FAR too unguided your not told what the goal or end game is so im not sure escaping the place is actually it and if there is one it's become king of the Exiled Lands because the game doesn't give you any information about anything there is lore that im willing to bet NOBODY reads its online no one is willing to stand in the middle of the desert reading some page yes narration but the voices are default character voices except a couple of them and sure there is more diverse craftables in conan than ark but at least ark has a followable story AND far more diverse creatures plus the building mode isn't nearly as choppy i really want to say that Conan is a good game i do but if im being honest its not im not sure if its built to be empty and filled with ONLY fighting but it feels like its still a game that's in its beta faze.
No offense to the dedicated players who love the game but its just an open world survival based in the world of Conan that's it a tad bit more but nothing else and it lacks so much that even the survival is bad how could i stand beside a small boulder and somehow be sheltered? And the physics arent good either gotta be careful dragging unconscious tralls around or else they'll spazz out and either die, disappear, or launch into the Atmosphere and don't worry on top of all of that the game occasionally crashes i love conan i grew up on comics and he was one of the ones i remember the most but Conan Exiles is not what i expect form a conan the barbarian game.

It was nice to hear something positive for a change about a game I have come to love. Nice overview. I presume you play primarily pve, since you did not cover anything about pvp.
I stopped playing pvp long long ago, it got so toxic and over run with cheaters , I still do it private but never official
It's amazing they are still adding to this game after all these years.
I got the game when it came out for free on PS+ a few years ago and I loved it so much I paid full price for it on pc. Things have changed now the only downside for me personally is the battle pass system

As an example of how much it ahs changed the "mini-Quest System" mentioned in the first 5 minutes no longer exists. It has been replaced with a much less passive and far more involved system of Journeys.

Does the game have missions or goals to help complete some sort of story? I read mixed reviews online about whether or not this exists.
How does online play work? Do you need to join specific servers? Or do you join a generic instance like Elite Dangerous?
Not sure if I can get into this if it has a whole nother level because I only tend to prefer like half nothers or maybe even 1/4th nothers.

Is it any good singleplayer too? I recently played Grounded and loved it, and this sounds rather similar, and the thrall system sounds amazing too. Just not sure if it's balanced around being done solo since you're talking about playing on a server.

It's a nice way to pass the time , especially when you need a day break from NW, I turned off decay so people don't feel obligated to log every day

I've been wanting to try it for a long time, but I prefer rpg games, the survival/building part of these games has never hooked me, do you think I should give it a chance?
have they improved pathing at all? i played the game several years back, and i did enjoy it some. but i found that pets would get stuck, thralls would get stuck, enemies would get stuck, and i would get stuck ----- and this happened fairly often. enough that i quit playing as it just became frustrating.
The thralls issue is still there. I don't think it'll ever be fixed tbh. I don't remember having issues getting stuck, save maybe like... once... in hundreds of hours played, so I can't speak to that.
U start playing pve and love it! But you start to feel you want more of a challenge! You keep bettering your pvp skills and building better bases👌 you fell in love in the game❤️ then you find yourself in middle of server war and you defend your base sucsesfully against plus 10 man alliance, weeks go by and you feel like you are on top of the world!! Then big alliance feels hopeless when they cannot win so they spam reports to get you banned.. best game i ever played but worst company..
I mean that's easily solved by just hosting your own PVP server.

Question is the game alive is on console? I tried looking for servers but the most I found was about three official servers with 20 people. Is 20 the most you’ll find now?

ultimate pack is good, if on sale, it contains the base game and all of the glc's, wich are amazing, but if you arent overly into cosmetics and unique building, not worth it

its a multiplayer game, mini mmo, servers hold 70 + people
I have just two questions. First, is there an end to the story such as being able to escape the exile lands? Secondly, how active is the community in group play for dungeons?
ya there is a story to leave, but if you do , you lose everything...and that depends on the community, pve communities, or pve-p do dungeons a ton, pvp tend to not

I'm really interested in Conan Exiles but I don't like having the player break and enslave people. My power fantasy is being able to save and help people. Are there any mods that give other options for recruiting NPCs? Maybe something like rescuing them from other NPC groups or some sort of negotiation?

Well not true actually. if you wanted to play with that fantasy, there are mercenary traders, you could instead get those and then just think of it as liberating them making them free men citizens :P
You can buy thralls I believe now. That could be your way of rescuing the thralls from slavers
Last time i played was a bit before age of sorcery. Basically everything that looks cool is paid content and you only really can build the basic stuff. And personally the prices are kinda absurd for what you get
most of the best stuff is in the dlc's wich are 11$ each, and the dlc's are worth every penny, the bazzar though is dumb so ya

I am on ps5 and got conan when it was released on ps4. is it still very much a game that has clunky mechanics such as statue like creatures that are incredibly unresponsive? it seemed to be more of a pve game than pvp, am i still correct? might see if my friends want to give it another shot as in concept it seems like a brilliant game that was executed quite poorly (on console at least). The jarring thing i found about conan was the lifelessness in the game. i found it difficult to find other players and the in game enemies were really robotic. hopefully this has changed
Just to mention, the 'endless' building and decoration options are locked behind payed dlcs. You get some basic stuff, weapons and armor but the cool stuff is dlc. endless dlcs...
Do I need to buy all the DLC? Or would the base game be enough now that Funcom went with a season pass model?

@@tommayhew4635 The Isle of Siptah is a completely different map for a different experience. Same core game but new discoveries to make. It's fun. The map is smaller compared to the exiled lands but it's big enough.
I tried Conan long time ago, and it was really fun. At the time I chose to play ARK, which was the alternative. There were differences of course. At least when I played ARK it had better graphics, today they are probably similar. My favorite part was building things, like houses, boats, and moving stations. Specially "houses", which with time ended being huge castles. I wish this would transfer to New World. Because of the MMO nature of the game, you cannot build just anywhere you want, but maybe you could buy an empty piece of land and do with it what you like. Similar to houses, you see your creation and other people see their creations. That would be insane.

How’s it compare to valhiem. I like valhiem because I don’t have to micromanage quite as much as other survival games.

Yeah, I’m seeing that now. Valheim was impressive for what they were able to do with such a low budget and crew, but Conan is at another level.

Ive played both and I can comfortably say that Valheim is 100 Times better.

From my experience, survival games are better on PC’s. It’s difficult to compare the massiveness of Conan Exiles to Valheim, but Valheim just had a different feel to it, especially when you were sailing across the waters into the unknown for the first time.

I’ve tried it a few times on gamepass but I never get past the starting area. It just feels like Ark without dinosaurs to me.

you make a builder hammer and equip it, then it will bring up the builder menu
For me yes its worth, optimization is good new mechanics ui changes are good, age of sorcery have so many easy stuff like resources teleportation etc, ı was play before and ı dont like it but now ı like so much and gettng fun
but they have added a cashshop and battlepass, which requires coins, not unlike the worst of EA or Activision-Blizzards games...
Ah a man with culture! I discovered you through New World and use your videos all the time but I never knew you play and like Conan Exiles! I love this game! Started playing in 2018 with the Halloween event and it is my most played game hours wise in my library. I like to describe Conan Exiles as a dark Skyrim with Robert E Howard lore, lots of boobs and NO questmarkers - Exactly the way it should be! Totally solo play friendly with a single player mode which I tend to play 70% of the time.

@Seth Taylor I find it very enjoyable and the best is if the loneliness gets to you, you can always join a server. Normal options in PvP, PvE or PvEC. And remember all DLCs are purely cosmetic except for The Isle of Siptah which is the latest map (also not necessary). So wait for a special and give it a go I say :)
This game is fun. My only complaint on the PlayStation 5. The text is so small.
