Surprising how much engineering is involved just to get the switch out! Nice job there Jim.

That is a simple part to replace, but difficult due to parts not being available at most dealerships, especially for foreign vehicles. That is one reason I always purchased American made vehicles and still own them only. I love the way you fully described what you checked and found the problem and after getting the part repaired it and gave the vehicle to the customer.

The Hyundai Santa Fe was engineered and manufactured in Montgomery, Alabama by US Auto workers.

This was very helpful. If I didn’t find this video, my sister wouldn’t have been able to use her vehicle to get to work. Very well explained. Thank you!

A nice informative step by step process to replace the switch. The top left blue pushpin toward the rear of the suv was a little hard to see (You can see it at 18:08 -18:12 in this video)
It kept the top of the door panel from releasing until I got it popped out. Replaced with a new switch and it works great. Thank You Jim !!

Thanks for the video Jim. I found that I was able to pop the switch apart and clean the simple contacts inside, just a copper bar pressing on 2 contacts. No need to buy another switch at all

This happened to my Santa Fe as well! I thought it was fuel door actuator but it would open 1/50 tries ave. Now it doesn’t open any more and it’s all bc of the little switch on the door. Thanks a lot for this video showing us how to get this done.

This happened to me on a 2003 Honda CR-V 3 years ago so I pull on the handle so hard that I broke it. Now I use channel locks to open the fuel door.😁

Jim, thank you for sharing your knowledge for all of us! I did exactly as you showed on this video and it went perfectly! My wife as amazed that I could do anything like this but I gave you all the credit as I should to the glory of GOD in Christ Jesus. I know it may not always go so well but this time it did and I love it! Thank you again! May the LORD Jesus Christ lead, guide and direct you in all you say and do for His glory! Stay safe!

Would one use the same steps to fix the window buttons? I can operate my rear door window from the rear door switch but not from the control for that window in the driver door panel.

For probably 50 years gas cap doors were spring loaded. You pulled them open with your finger tip and pushed them closed with your finger. Keyed locking caps were available if you wanted to lock your filler. I can't ever remember having a problem.

What happens when the emergency release will not release the gas cap? What would the main issue be in that case?

I appreciate the videos, and I need to make money through the videos, but recently, TH-cam is betting putting in way too many advertisements that it makes the videos unwatchable. This one included. I don’t need to see a video advertisement every 30 seconds that I can’t skip

The switch pops out you don't have to take the panel off.

  • @Recordgrooves

Just repair the switch internally , there is not much in there just a spring or two and contacts. 🤯

No need to diagnose it. Its 100% always the switch. These switches take a shit all the time.
