I'm confused. The instructor emphasized pushing both heels against the blocks before starting, yet at the start the trailing leg heel is against the block but the forward heel is NOT against the block (4:02)...?
I just joined track my 10th grade year it’s my first sport ever and I’m not that fast, have bad form, and track season is literally almost here any tips??
There’s no easy way to improve. You have to put in the work. Since it’s your first sport, go into each meet trying to have fun rather than win all your races, because you won’t. Talk with your coaches regularly to see what you can realistically improve on in one season and go from there.
I'm a currently a 10th grader and I been running track since 7th grade I'm very passionate about it but this year I wasn't able to run because my mom feared Corona...I'm trying to come back stronger than ever my 11th grade year any tips of some things I can start doing now get do this summer to maintain and improve until tryouts After Summer 👀
yoo samee kinda. im in grade 10 and ive been wanting to do track as well. i did 100 meter once in grade 7 but couldnt do it the other years because of covid but now i am happy to finally be able to properly do 100m. ive always told myself i shouldnt do sprints beacause i am on the skinner side and i know its better to not be beacuse you can put more force into the ground. do you think i stand a chance agaisnt other people who are not as skinny as me?
your back foot is the strong foot (the foot you would use to kick a ball with or jump off of) and the weak foot in the front. From what I understand the strong foot is in the back because its the foot you intially push out with when starting your run.
I am two years too late, but the comments here are absolutely incorrect. Your strong leg is at the front. Most amateur sprinters do not push much with the back leg at all. In addition to that, the higher angle at the knee of the back leg makes it less propulsive than the front. Your strong leg must absolutely be at the front.
Block placement hindering his zero step, let that hind foot go another finger length so he can lif his hips and get proper placement and his first step will be more efficient
Yea, spot on. There is a 90 degree angle on both his legs, instead of 90 and 125 [02:38]. The position of his left leg is a bit better on the actual start, but generally, I found this demo a bit lacking. Best demo in my opinion is by Carl Lewis and Coach Tellez.
So I’m just doing track to get faster for football but I just can’t be humiliated by having a terrible start and getting smoked in races because of it. So I’m here
Block distance based on foot length is a stupid, lazy way to setup. It should be based on leg length. Check out athlete x on TH-cam for a good way to setup
Awesome Video, watching from Nigeria
fun fact you already fast xD
Me too😂
Nice demonstration…good job! Thank you
Great video. This really helped a lot
Love the vid. Has helped me so much.

Im in the EXACT same place as you, but im in 8th grade, and my first track meet is on Saturday

@@oran9e947How did you do at your track meet?
Without a block start
Will the crouch start pick up speed earlier compared to someone just leaning before starting to run
Sprinter is moving the blocks a couple inches closer to the start line than the coach's instructions. Probably why he can't straighten his back.

Same ! If you can afford it maybe look into atrack coach or into doing AAU which you would be conditioned the whole year !
Will dooooooo
A lot of sprints and do some leg workouts occasionally to get conditioned again
What about good foods 2 eat daily?👀

Which side foot is the forward foot, how do you determine which foot is the front leg & what is the purpose?
your back foot is the strong foot (the foot you would use to kick a ball with or jump off of) and the weak foot in the front. From what I understand the strong foot is in the back because its the foot you intially push out with when starting your run.
Your dominant foot is back. I figured out by my friend pushing me and my first step was with my left foot so my left foot is back

how do I know which foot should be front?

bro exact same
You still playing football?
i am a distance runner and tomorrow i run a 400 (and in a track) for the first time of my life lmao, i hope it goes good
How was your race?
Nice video Love from india
Great job bigga
Would like the runner to be a tad bit lower coming out the blocks but very nice
Can’t lie, I’m a thrower that decided to try out in the 100m and I ran a 12 flat (which is 3rd on my team) so ig I’m on a 4x1 team now💀
your team is crazy slow 12 flat is freshman team speed at my school
@@shershahiqbal our towns population is under 350…
If I am right leg dominate should I have my right leg in the front
yes you take off with more power
Dang it I am used to having my left leg in front
@@H3llh0undOn1 I had the same thing except left and right were switched lol!!
@@thenotsoamazinggracetnsag3463 I tried using my right and nearly fell and was still faster with my left
I'm confused so you put your right leg in front
It's his preference, have someone push you forward and which ever foot comes forward is the one you start with
Mostly your stronger leg goes ahead

👀
never heard of them...

Smash
I’m smaller than that guy and my left block is at the very back
Terrible video. No drills found. No 120-degree angle found. How does this have so many views?
