I'm only about halfway through this game, but I can already tell it deserves sooooo much more attention. The voice acting, story, references, dialogue, everything is just spot on.
Weeeeeell... there are about 4-5 instances of the dialogue being straight up different from the voice acting. You'll see them down the line. I am of the opinion it deserves harsher criticism but I still like it, just ok in my eyes. Opinions though
@@simonO712 If it was just 1 or two cases then no, but the fact it repeats itself this many times is proof the game was rushed at some points/changed at the last moment. Compare it to VLR, a game with double to triple the playtime. That one had typos yes, but nothing like the sort of the dialogue and voice being completely off. It's not game breaking but it still is something that deserves criticism.

@@gman1017 There is no dialogue that isnt voiced outside of narration. And again, if a game like VLR which has much more dialogue didnt mess it up, it is an issue. Not even that, just any game having different dialogue than what is on screen shouldn't just be glossed over when it happens repeatedly

Man i fucking love the cast of this game especially the relationship between Date and Mizuki ,The somniums are so unique and genius in how they combine puzzle with story elements, Mizuki and Mayumi somniums in particular completely broke me. Ps: The ending credits sequence is Absolute Perfection

Yes! The music in the creepy Somnium was so good. I love how it suddenly starts once you make a certain choice! You *know* you fucked up. It was genuinely more difficult for me to think during that Somnium.
This game was so great, finished it a month ago. Really hope more visual novels with a high budget and a decent amount of content are made in the future. Seriously, everyone get it so Spike Chunsoft knows people want more like it

I literally played it non-stop all week whenever I had a chance. The characters, the voice acting, the ost, the story, everything about this was just so good. The story! I was so invested the whole time, It was so fun trying to come up with theories on what the hell is going on and then having some crazy new piece of info in every route. It’s been a while since I’ve played a VN with such a damn good story. It made it all worth it to see it through to the end. I actually felt so happy when I saw that sequence at the very end. I look forward to whatever games this studio has in store in the future!
This is probably my favorite game in this genre. The story and characters are so good and I got so attached to the mystery and drama that I felt legitimately traumatize by the time I was done with the game. This game made me feel things I didn't know I could feel.
Yo there’s an anime called ID:Invaded that has a pretty similar premise. It’s also about a bunch of detective like dudes that go inside the minds of serial killers using a specific machine. Just thought the comparison was interesting.
Yeah, I also noticed the similarities between the two when the show began airing. Personally I quite enjoyed both as they were different enough, though there could easily have been some borrowed ideas.

I didnt know this game existed and binge watch a playthrough to the end. 10/10 best story development. It really delivers so much more than the nonary games had for me, i can never see nonary game as good as I usually do now.
Also, I'd like to point out I had technical difficulties on PC as well. If your framerate goes over 60, some graphics can go completely crazy. Also, I had multiple moments where I had heads floating around in dialogs.
@@aegis5678 didn't know that. I've seen it played on base PS4 and there are late game loading issues and some glitches. I don't know about Pro. I've played it on the Switch though, and it's seemed like the _most_ stable platform I've seen it played on. But I can't speak on the Pro.

Specifically the tiny clip of the sunfish pocket mermaid, and as far as I am aware that's an issue with the Unity engine and is a multiplatform one. It's possible I might have had more problems if I had played handheld, but I played the game docked.

Thank you. And yes at the end game, with all the flash backs, you get a bit of longer than comfortable loads and some frame rate drops on the switch, that’s probably my only problem with it.
This game is the only game to make me cry. And again, nothing sad, just the music in combination with a touching scene in possibly the least important ending of all
There's a lot of weirdness and a lot of jank in the game, but it fucking *nails* the relationship between it's two leads so hard that it carries the whole production.

I really liked AI! It felt like Uchikoshi finally started focusing more on characters than he usually does. There were a lot of touching scenes that made me feel for the characters that were mostly absent in his other works. I have two major gripes with it though: 1) the infamous porno mag scenes, because they're a waste of time and kill the "mood" of the game, and 2) the biggest twist of the game is ripped straight from Punch Line, which made me feel like Uchikoshi decided it was okay to reuse it because Punch Line didn't do very well. But as one of the rare people who watched it, I was disappointed. I feel like I would have enjoyed the game more if I hadn't seen Punch Line! I'm glad you took the time to acknowledge Punch Line in this video, if only because of the horny connection.
Great game - massively underated and lack of attention. If only the PR/Ads people flagged-up this game it might get the attenton it truly deserves. I usually skip fluff-textand side ramble the characters give in games like this - but for this game it was mostly hilarious or cool info-dumps. Uchikosi deserves way more coverage than he gets compared to Kodaka and DanganRonpa. I enjoyed the gameplay and story from start to finish, even though the somnium sequences frustrated me a little. -SPOILERS I guess?- (especially the iris one and final "Dante" one) but I've never been really good at videogames so it's understandable that I had a hard time. the characters were so much fun to watch interact with each other and i loved the delivery of almost all of the lines. I don't wanna keep rambling on so to cut it short I just wanna say that this game is fricking amazing and I'm glad it's getting more attention now. it deserves all of it.
You should consider giving Raging Loop a look. Game doesn't have english voice acting, but it's made in a similar style to Zero Escape, and while the game can be a bit slow at times, it does a great job at the major plot twists. I would say it's almost as good as Zero Escape and it's worth the buy.
Playing on the Switch I didn't have any problems with slowdown in either handheld mode or docked. I did have the game hard crash once though when I was talking to Aiba in the car though in later middle part of the game in handheld mode. With the Autosave I was fine once I booted it back up again.
I actually had Ai *crash* on me in the switch version. It reaaally struggles with the Ai sight parts of the dialogue. But I still keep playing. I'm almost done actually

The japanese dub has so many puns that get lost in translation. The localization is still good overall and they did salvage some jokes, but there's just so many puns that only work in japanese that it must have been a nightmare to translate. Most notable the word play on AI and eye, which then plays into "Aiba" which is actually Aibo (partner) which stands for AI/eye-bot and Eyeball pronounced aibōru.
I'm gonna be real with you too buddy, I had no idea that the original video was AI the somnium files either until almost a year later cause that thumbnail was so confusing for me.

However after playing the game, I was one day watching a video of his were he mentioned he reviewed it and showed the thumbnail and was like "wait...he reviewed it?" So then I went back and watched it.
My first route was The bad ending you get before you unlock the true one. I didn't get to unlock it yet so I spent the whole game thinking you know who is a traitor.

The japanese dub has so many puns that get lost in translation. The localization is still good overall and they did salvage some jokes, but there's just so many puns that only work in japanese that it must have been a nightmare to translate.
Most notable the word play on AI and eye, which then plays into "Aiba" which is actually Aibo (partner) which stands for AI/eye-bot and Eyeball pronounced aibōru.
I'm gonna be real with you too buddy, I had no idea that the original video was AI the somnium files either until almost a year later cause that thumbnail was so confusing for me.

However after playing the game, I was one day watching a video of his were he mentioned he reviewed it and showed the thumbnail and was like "wait...he reviewed it?" So then I went back and watched it.

The bad ending you get before you unlock the true one. I didn't get to unlock it yet so I spent the whole game thinking you know who is a traitor.

I always found the Iris route to be the best one to play first, just to get it out of the way without exposing too much of the main plot.
