Out of all the videos I have watched of yours, I think this one probably gave me the best understanding of your thought process. REALLY appreciate the insight!
Wow. Another practical approach to something that concerned me... the weather. Find the fish ....catch the fish. Makes sense. I have watched all your videos and have had the best walleye fishing of my life on my local lake. Even managed to land a 43 inch pike on a slip bobber. Thank you so much for your informative videos.
Thanks for making this video. Going up to Cass lake in Minnesota for a couple days. Weather is unpredictable. You can’t change the weather but you can change the way you fish. Tight lines man!
GREAT VIDEO AS USUAL!!! How about a video where everything goes wrong with your boat, while on the water with 30 mph wind gust . This weekend my battery died, no trolling motor or spot lock. live well pump puked!! I drove to shallows letting the wind blow me back out . I motored back and forth limited out in 2 hrs jigging a minnow and a 4" swim bait. Loved your Video on changing up baits
Excellent presentation, as usual. I've generally caught the most fish when its pretty calm, even flat calm. But I don't think that's because of the *fish;* but rather, how easy it is *to* fish. Easy boat control and such. Especially trolling, vertical jigging. or staying on a pod of active fish. The tactic that has a clear advantage on windy days is drifting, like your slip bobber/leech rigs.
You talked about using the right bait/lure for the right situations. Could you maybe give some examples or elaborate of what you might use/try according to the situation?
I don't know Tom but watched every video I could watch over the years. When you have a natural ability like Tom has, when it comes to fishing I don't care what species it is. There eyes will get crossed. Tom's a tactical master.
Tom can you please explain your graphs like what setting and colors you use I can’t seem to see any fish on my graphs I’m not sure what setting I need them at
Hey Tom thanks for the videos!!! I'm learning allot from you.. still haven't landed a large mouth or small mouth just a few rock bass. But I'm learning allot. Slowly getting plastics and lures, so I'll get one soon!!!
Bass love to ambush there pray. They hide in the ledges etc. If I want to catch Bass I fish rock piles. Find any rocks under 4ft of water to 18ft. Simply toss a worm on a hook, with or without a bobber! A light rain really seems to make them want to eat, some of my best days were in low chop with a light rain. Sucks to be in the rain but man, it keeps u busy!
New sub here....where yah from? Definitely want to get into walleye fishing, Grew up in MD doing predominantly saltwater and brackish river fishing, and everywhere I've been stationed I've done the same. Not much freshwater with exception to occasional bass and/or crappie fishing..Stationed in MI now and really wanna get more into it....I've caught them and damn near every other freshwater fish but never targeted them. Glad I found your channel
I am a wildlife/fisheries biologist. My major professor, who also loved to fish told me that when the barometer takes a nose dive, it effects the fifth cranial nerve, the lateral line, of a fish and it gives them a “headache”, and they bury their heads in the bottom until it stabilizes. I have found that to be true over my 45 years in the business. Just FYI to those who might care about the science. Fish on👍
One question I had as you were explaining this was: when trolling over the basin with spinners, are you marking fish before you begin? Or are you picking a depth and just going for it?
Tom also can you send me the link on them Elliot poles like what length and action do you use for Jigg, rappala rap, slip bobber thanks I would like to order some and try
Thank you Tom. Apologies if you've heard this a lot, but I think one of the "whoa" things I see you do is continually stick your finger(s) in a walleye's mouth. I don't think my office hands could take too much of that haha. Thanks for the great content.
Is there a way to effectively use slip bobbers when you can’t locate the fish with side imaging but they’re scattered like this time of year? I only have a Helix 7 Chirp GPS DI. Would I be better sticking to trolling spinners?
Tom, thanks for all the video's I fish walleye up north with some older fellows. We never used slip bobber floats but this would be a great technique. I notice you use some of them with the weights, these are hard to get online so I don't want to make error. Can you give me a specific size that you use and do you prefer the weighted vs non-weighted. I have to find these online. THANKS !! Your videos cost me a lot of money stock piling Kalin's google eyes and plastics... These are sold by inches in the weighted ?????
Great Video! I am thinking about trying out spinners to catch some walleye because I am still not familiar with the lake I am on. What size Lead weight should I use or should I even use a lead? Also any recommendations for where I should be fishing. I have no electronics so is there anything I should look for when picking a spot to troll?
Hey Tom-Just wanted to say “Thanks” for your videos. Serious fishing with clean, precise information. I appreciate what youre putting out there.

Good info. Thanks
Are you using any kind of bobber-stop up the line or is that thing just on your main line with no stop-knot? (Great videos, by the way!)

Another question I have is, should I use spinners to start off, or do you have any other suggestions or recommendations for catching summer walleye?
Depends how and where the fish are set up.
Awesome stuff. The best informational fishing videos on the tube. Come fish fort peck with us...
Love it👍
Keep ripping'em
How do you judge the depth of the fish when locating them on side imaging and setup up your bobber depth ?
Walleyes are almost always between 1 and 3 feet on bottom in these shallower depths. So Its not super specific.
What line do u use?
10lb suffix performance braid
What are your thoughts on florocarbon? Why braid over floro? Thank you Tom!
Can I ask please which brand of braided line do you use to fish with and how many pounds thrust is your trolling motor please
10lb suffix performance braid. 80lb thrust minnkota terrova
Tom is wrong, there is a best time to catch walleye... It's when you're on the water :)
Three thumbs down?, you must be fishing their spot. LOL 😂
Good👌👌
You need merch. “” hooked up’’
Absolutely 👍
Shhhh....its coming
First.
