    So very informative. Loaded with tips. This will be my first year with good electronics. Watching you over and over trying to get schooled as well as I can. Thanks Tom.

    I really appreciate your videos. I have learned a ton. Last weekend I took my father in law out. Temp dropped from 68 to 40 overnight and we had a strong NE. Everyone said don't waste your time. He is 85, so I got up early and scouted them just like you have shown. Picked him up on the dock at 8:00 and were catching fish by 8:15. Multiple doubles that day. His smile said it all. Thanks Tom

    Thank you for all the great information you give. It has helped me tremendously.
    My question would be what is your sonar set at, and do you change frequencies for different depths?

    Enjoy your videos, looking forward to fish with electronics this spring. Not a fan of touch screen and will not have an expensive electric trolling motor that can relate to my electronics. Going to buy a Humminbird 10" with SI. Can you recommend a model number of a unit I should buy in April.

    I like all of your videos but this is maybe my favorite video because it shows what you do when you're not catching fish! And some of the best side imaging pictures because it's not obvious to pick out the fish. One thing that would help me is to cover how your transducer is mounted. I've played with mine and gotten it better but I don't get as wide of a picture as you do even narrow (60' across). Great information, thanks!!

    Question:

    Man, I need to practice reading side imaging. Even in your still shots, I can't tell if they're fish or rocks on the bottom. The second one I could tell, you could see the white lines, but some of them, I would've driven right by them lol. More tips on that would be awesome! Great vids keep them coming!

    One thing I need to learn is how to teach my father to use his humminbird to look for fish, not just to see how deep it is! Working on it! Hoping to get one of my own on my kayak, but paddling is slower than trolling motor! Thanks for putting the "boring" homework part of it on camera too.

    I really like your videos and everything you share. I'd love it if you had a fixed camera on the side imaging; I think it would be very informative to hear your narration along with the imaging. For instance at the beginning of the segment, you are driving around searching and talking, but no view of what you're looking at. I'd love to have more of your interpretation of side imaging as you are searching. Keep on keeping on. You definitely are helping me become a better angler!

      Is the reason that it sort of blocks the scan to the side? I’ve noticed my motor all the way down the other side is not that good. I raise it some and it seems better.

    Tom, when you spot lock do you slow your chart speed down to 1 to get a better image?

  • @kenrathbone3265
    @kenrathbone3265 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Tom, what speed are you going while you have your trolling motor in the water? Humminbird will not give me an answer on how fast you can go without breaking the Terrova. I guessing you are at about 3 mph.

    Long periods of stable weather, I'd say 3-4 days... Temp wise, maybe 2x that for water levels in river systems.

  • @Intimidator82

      Troll with crank baits or bouncers until you catch one would be one option. Then mark the spot and see what happens with slip bobbers.

    Another great video Tom but the constant split screen is a little difficult to watch and hard to see detail in also. Ol Surly does extremely well. I've seen several dogs eat a hook and it makes for a bad situation. Ruins everyone's day, especially the dogs.
