Tom, glad to hear that from time-to-time, you also struggle and share that info. Thanks, for sharing the graph info, as always. It has really helped me to trust what I am seeing (and recognize what I am seeing). Keep posting the best fishing videos that are applicable to Northern WI/MN!
So glad to hear you say that it's been rough for you as well. Was up at Leech same weekend as you and tried Winnie, Bowstring and smaller lakes when it got really windy and tried everything in the box and nothing would get them to bite. Marking them everywhere in the deep 20s laying on the bottom, but nothing would do it.
Maybe a long shot but would be awesome if some walleye guide types did a video that is oriented to canoe country (BWCA) tactics during summer. Yes the lakes probably receive less pressure but how to maximize your time fishing catching bigger fish not just dink smallies, how to approach a new lake armed only with lake surveys and message board wisdom. Could assume primary goal is fishing so one would have a decent compact depth finder(minimum)with DI maximum. Anyway...I enjoy your videos Tom they have helped a ton!
Great information on tough bites, it awesome to see even you have struggles and you honest enough to admit it your the best keep your videos coming always learn something from you.
Tom, another great video as always. Really enjoyed the seasonal progression videos and crossing my fingers at some point you cover if tactics do/do not change for night fishing during those periods.
Hey Tom, thanks for all the info! I feel a lot more confident in going after these summer walleyes now and I'm hoping to put it all into practice this weekend up in the boundary waters of MN. The way you break it all down and explain exactly what you're doing and thinking is so incredibly helpful! Love the vids my dude!
The channel on the west side of Horseshoe Island has a sweet spot when temps in the upper 80s. Got a pic of a radio-collared white wolf across from there beneath big bluff on shore
Great video confidence baits are key I only make spinners with glass beads a slow death air up my crawlers and wen I pull in to marina everyone says no bites today at all I smile and go home cookin up Walter's
Can you do a fishing basics video for kids. You obviously are a tremendous instructor and my kids love youtube and it would work marvels for us. How to rig up a minnow, how to grab a walleye, how to tie a knot. Whatever else you think.
Hey Tom - So, how many smallies did you have to work through? I was in the same area as you about an hour before you came out. Caught 5 or 6 smallies in the first 20 minutes or so, then moved on. Was going to go back and try again later on but there were two guys in a boat with a tripod and camera. I didn't want them secretly recording all my bad techniques and laughing about it later. So I left.
Tom - I love all your videos, but how do I find the walleyes if I don't have the fancy sonar? I've only got a rod, reel, tackle and boat. How do I find good walleye spots?
Hi Tom - I've been fishing up in the Whitefish chain in MN for a few months now and fishing has been rough to say the least. We're seeing tons of fish on the Hummingbird, but we're also seeing something extremely odd. When you showed the ball of perch, you could actually see it on sonar. Have your ever seen massive clouds (similar to the perch cloud) that may span the entire width of the side scan, appear on down scan, but do not appear on sonar? Thanks for the help, my google-fu has failed me thus far! Keep up the great videos.
If it’s dead clam and fish are found spread out over a spot, pulling slip bobbers .2/.3 mph with trolling motor over an area holding fish is also an effective way. Little more weight needed for this technique keeping the bobber stop at the bobber without pulling it away. The .2/.3 speed is important. Let’s call this technique “ Slip Bobber Creeping “
If I may ask a question: I thought most pros say when the bite is super tough in the summer then you go for reaction strikes. Mainly the shivers, snap raps or your hyper rattles. So my question is; when your in a rut when do you decide to go super aggressive vs. back to natural? Am I the only one that finds that these messages counter each other sometimes? Thx.
Tom Boley ok thanks for the answer. It’s not just you that says downsize and simplify. But it’s always tough for me to make that call on the water. I feel like it’s got to be 100% one way or the other if you’re going to give it an honest effort. Thanks again

Tom, conditions are not tough!! YOU are tough!!! man keep up your determination.
Never retreat. Never surrender. Well done sir.
Super info for this newbie. Thanks

Another awesome video with alot of great information!
How often does Surly knock over the open leech container?

I leave for a lake in northern MN August 1-8. I'll have to try this up there
I am Fishing on red that week.
Tom could you comment on purchasing leaches for live bait
Will you show how you tie up a slip bobber and how to set for different depths? Great video as usual !!
Awesome video as always 👍
Do you ever use bottom walkers. Never seen you use them. If I missed it, sorry. Just wondering if you use them. Thanks love your videos
Love your videos man, very informative and helpful!
Great video Tom! Pmytuming waiting on you yet
Thanks again Tom I've learned so much from your videos!
Great video! I keep waiting to see your crankbait trolling setup. I am interested in what rods you use for trolling with length and action.
Great video confidence baits are key I only make spinners with glass beads a slow death air up my crawlers and wen I pull in to marina everyone says no bites today at all I smile and go home cookin up Walter's
Awesome video! I’ll definitely try these techniques!!
Come on down to Erie...jumping in the boat...
Just might
Your always welcome..i live in the central basin....have a starcraft superfisherman....fishing is insane
11:10 love the effort on the camera guys part LOL badass
What do you do when there is hundreds of 4-7" planted eyes eating your crawler/leaches... I can't seem to get big ones unless I use crank baits.
Can you do a fishing basics video for kids.
You obviously are a tremendous instructor and my kids love youtube and it would work marvels for us. How to rig up a minnow, how to grab a walleye, how to tie a knot. Whatever else you think.
I’m just getting ready to go to the lake
We're having a slow bite as well in the PNW. Marking a few, but bites are less than half of a month ago.
Great videos. how long is the line from the slip bobber.
Good stuff Tom !
Curious, could you do this stuff with good plastics or does it need to be live bait? What if the plastic has scent?
I Got boat, I got slip bobber, I got thousands of bobber stops it's time to crush walleyes. LOL 👍

That's the worst, he is always following us around the lake too
Riley Chapman I’m putting my foot down the next time he slaps my grandma’s caboose at the sand bar
That's funny stuff 😂
Hey Tom, have you had success or used a Lazy Ike or Lindy Lil' Guy rigged up in front with a slow death hook and crawler in back?
Tom, what rod size are you using with the jig and leach at the beginning? What was your friend using with the slip jig? Thanks!
Elliot rods 76mlf for both techniques. We were slip bobbering leeches.
@@TomBoley Thanks for your reply!
Fishing with the slip bobber and jig, how deep were these fish? I'm assuming all these fish came up from deeper water.
Some tips to help me with heilx to be that clear for showing fish
Thats a might fine fish ya got there a 14.44 in dontcha know
I always find unstable pressure to be tough fishing for every species
Tom - I love all your videos, but how do I find the walleyes if I don't have the fancy sonar? I've only got a rod, reel, tackle and boat. How do I find good walleye spots?
Rob. Read Buck Perry's book on Spoonplugging and you will change your fishing life forever.

Your 2D sonar is going to shoot a narrower cone than SI or DI images, and the shallower the water the more true this becomes. So yes.
Tom, just curious why you didn't try to entice them with a hyper rattle or jigging rap when you had the fish on sonar?
What kind of line are you using? Do you use the same line for all 3 styles of fishing?

Thomas, I thought you recommend fast jigging rapalas to trigger reaction strikes on lazy fish, or have they been simply saying no to that technique
There is never a for sure answer in fishing. This is just what worked for me that day
How do you avoid sunfish and perch stealing your live bait??
I was just going to ask about merchandise, can you add a swearshirt?
Hey Tom, how do my wife and I come fish with you? I'm a SD fisherman but would love to spend a day on the water with you
is this in lake geneva Wi?
Have you ever used flukes for walleye??
Could be....you caught all of them once already :)
When the bite is slow during the day, do you ever go after dark? If so what's your methodology for catching them?
If I may ask a question: I thought most pros say when the bite is super tough in the summer then you go for reaction strikes. Mainly the shivers, snap raps or your hyper rattles. There is no right or no wrong....these are just things that work for me
