    Perfect video !
    You're the first to explain the huge stereo difference between the Sc15/Sc16 and the trrs/trs adapters.

    This is great information! I have another tip for iphone users; you can use a genuine iphone camera adapter (about 30 bucks), and plug the USB side of the charging cable of your wireless go 2 into the adapter, while plugging the other end into the wireless go 2 receiver. Then, just plug the lightning part of the camera adapter into your iphone and boom! You're good tog go.

I can see on your iPhone screen the camera is on and as you explained on the right edge I can see the rode volume bar moving. my question is : is the interface from a rode app(what's the name of the app?) or it is just iPhone camera with rode's app? thank you!

    • @ChrisSpiegl
      @ChrisSpiegl  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I am not sure since I have not tested these devices. However, the DJI Mic 2 has it's own mechanism of connecting to the iPhone by using their adapters, so that should just work by default.

    Great video Chris! Just bought the Wireless Go II (single set) yesterday and had no idea what is the most optimal way to connect to my iPhone until I saw your video! The only question I have is whether it possible to substitute the RODE SC19/17 cable with the standard USB-C to lightning cable manufactured by Apple, or are they fundamentally different cables in application? Many thanks.

    • @ChrisSpiegl
      @ChrisSpiegl  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      From all my tests: you do need the one form Røde. There is something special about it (not sure what) but the standard charging cable from Apple or any other have not worked for me.

    What happens with the AI-Micro device? If I have to interview like 3 persons plus myself! This was helpful but I think I need to go one step further based on Rode's feedback. What's the upgraded cable for the new iPhone with the USB-C connection?

    • @ChrisSpiegl
      @ChrisSpiegl  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I think when you have an iPhone with USB-C you can use just about any USB-C Data capable cable to connect the Wireless GO or Pro. It's just the Lightning connection where a special cable was necessary (however, I have not tested this as I did not upgrade my phone this time around).

    Hi Chris,
    thank you for this informative video and explanation - really helpful!
    What kind of headphones do you use for monitoring the sound during rec? As there is the 3,5 mm output free with the SC15-cable I tried to use TRS-headphones and TRSS-headphones.
    But for both setups the sound while recording is too silent. I barely hear anything at all.
    I am filming with Iphone 14 pro Max, the Rode Wireless Go II with Rode Lavalier Go on the transmitters and the mentioned SC15 cable.
    Thank you very much in advance! :)
    All the best,
    Kristina

    • @ChrisSpiegl
      @ChrisSpiegl  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, in Mono mode both transmitters get mixed together so that you are streaming one signal and it's not strange that one person is in the left ear and the other in the right.

    • @Mikeduffey_
      @Mikeduffey_ 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ChrisSpiegl I didn’t know this. So if I plan to interview someone I should use mono? I was under the impression that split would be better for that? Very interesting

    • @ChrisSpiegl
      @ChrisSpiegl  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Mikeduffey_ The difference is this: when you are streaming the interview live you want the Mono mixdown so that the people on the other end don't hear one person on the left and the other on the right (keep in mind, they may just be having one ear bud in).
      When you are recording an interview and edit it after, then the Split mode is the better choice so you have the flexibility to edit things together. However, you will have to make a few steps in whatever editing program you use to separate the Left/Right channel.

    Hello. I am currently using Lightning adapter to SC7 cable, problem is that when you record something in order to hear the recording you have to unplug the cable, what about SC15/19 cables is it behaves the same?

    Muy interesante tu video, tengo una pregunta. ¿Como puedo monitorear el audio en tiempo real? ¿Hay alguna manera?

    What is the solution for Insta360 One R? How can I get two separate slit channels, please

    • @ChrisSpiegl
      @ChrisSpiegl  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I don't think that is possible. However, you can use the local recording which is done on the Transmitter to sync in post and have split channels that way.

    If I use the SC 15 cable so I can record the two voices on two separate tracks, do I need to do anything in post processing so the audio sounds normal when someone is listening with headphones? Or is the only option for the audio to sound normal on headphones to use the mono setting? Thanks very much.

    Good video overall, except you called the receiver a "transmitter" several times. A minor oversight for those of us who know the product, but could be confusing for someone completely new to the Rode GO II. The devil's in the details and all that.

    I am filming a interview and its just one person should turn on both transmitter after clicking merged mode. Can I then mute the second transmitter and let the interview hold on to it or should i keep it with me

    • @ChrisSpiegl

      If you only need one microphone, then I would recommend leaving the second one turned off.

    i bought both of these USB cables, have gone through the firmware updates, watched tutorials for best setting on the RX and TXs and i still get very low, not clear recordings while shooting video. if and only if i hold the TX to my mouth and speak the sound becomes clear. i just ordered the TRS to TRRS cord with hopes of clearer, louder recordings. to say i am disappointed with this product is an understatement and can't figure out how others are achieving satisfactory, let alone great results.

    Excellent video. Thank you. What is the quality like for a Facebook livestream? I’m thinking of a church stream scenario with one mic used for the person speaking and the other mic used to pic up general organ music and singing. Would be grateful for your thoughts.

    • @ChrisSpiegl
      @ChrisSpiegl  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This would depend greatly on the setup you are running around all of it. I would say the quality itself of the mics is really good. However, you'd probably want to be able to mix these two signals together nicely so that the signal is mixed well for listening pleasure.

    Chris, I have been attempting to put my transmitter into my iphone and record through the iphone camera using the Go 2 Audio. I have all the cords for the set-up, but I cannot find settings information on any videos or tutorials out there. Which settings on the receiver and transmitter should be set in order to simply press record on my iphone camera and audio is captured through go2 into the iphone video?

    • @ChrisSpiegl
      @ChrisSpiegl  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      When you plug everything together you should not need to set any special settings on the recorder. You just have the audio signal right on the iPhone and it gets recorded there.

    If I’m just recording off my NTG or wireless go 2. Is it better to use just the merge? I heard using split May be better since it’ll save another version on another channel. Please let me know

    • @ChrisSpiegl
      @ChrisSpiegl  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      When you use split it means you can later on decide how you want to mix the two mics. If you merge you'd have to get the individual files from the transmitters to do the same.

    How do you get the audio display to appear on your iPhone videos?

    • @ChrisSpiegl
      @ChrisSpiegl  ปีที่แล้ว

      You have to use video recording apps which have audio levels. The default app does not have this.

    Hi there, really great review! Just a question: when I run interviews, on my camera I have small shotgun plugged in, so the Rode Wireless GO II Receiver won't be connected to the camera.
    How can I monitor the audio/level of the interviewee(s) coming from the two Wireless GO II Transmitters? If I plug my headphones into the Receiver I won't get any audio...
    Many thanks

    • @ChrisSpiegl
      @ChrisSpiegl  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      That's a great question. I have never tried that and don't know at this time. I think the Røde Wireless Go II does not support headphones since it would have to provide more power to the TRS jack. I wonder if it would work if the usb-c power would be plugged… but I'd have to test that.

    Does it also work this way on the stock Camera App on the iPhone?

    • @ChrisSpiegl
      @ChrisSpiegl  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I have not tested the stock camera app because I really dislike producing any kind of "proper video" with it. The fact that it is not showing me any audio meters always feels like it is leaving me in the dark. Maybe in the future I will test it but right now, that's all I can say.
