    A few questions:
    1. How do I export all the audio at once?
    2. How do I export the Timecode metadata to text file?
    3. how do you autoname the files by date time and seconds created?
    If you can't do it these features would be useful to have in the rode central software.

    • @GaryDmedia
      @GaryDmedia  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great questions Clarke, future updates may give the option to select individual files or multiple files for deleting and exporting. At this stage it is not available.
      There is no usable sync timecode with the file apart from the time the file started to be recorded. No way to export this time with file.
      There is no option yet to adjust file naming method.
      Just have to wait I think Clarke. I’m looking forward to an app maybe to manage this from my phone.

    I don't get the purpose of the pad function. Is it a kind of automatic gain control, something I would not like tu use for audio? Then the pad function and the gain control (fine or coarse) work together? Usually I record to an iPhone through the audio monitor of an Zoom H5 - it is true clipping on the Rode side must be omitted by all means. It is easy to control clipping on the Zoom H5 but I am not sure what is best practice on the Rode setup. You taught me how to use the Zoom H5.

    • @dandyfunhouse
      @dandyfunhouse 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@GaryDmedia it was still bad. I have peaking like crazy with it about a foot from my mouth. It's fine for normal speaking, but doing high energy announcing, I'm blowing this thing out. The worst part is that you don't know what you've got until playback which you can't do until you export. I'm sure if I get it farther away I'll be fine but it's definitely an experimental process. Maybe if I use the windscreen.

    • @taghappytv
      @taghappytv 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dandyfunhouse I have been in contact with Rode regarding this issue as I find the input signal very sensitive. In short, they said Pad only drops the input sensitivity by -4db. What's unfortunate is if the audio clips on the way in any sort of safety track or low gain setting on the receiver or camera is void as the clipping is already in the pipe line. Rode said they'll pass the feed back on however I wouldn't hold my breath as to whether they'll impliment gain control at the transmitter level. The only way around this it to use a Pad attenuator between the mic and transmitter to pull back the gain. This is a shame as this issue alone completely ruins a great product. Who wants to risk clipping audio.

    • @DandyDoesIt
      @DandyDoesIt 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@taghappytv Thank you for digging into this. I have recently added the rode go lav mic with excellent results and exporting in 32 bit float instead of mp3 has appeared to have cleared up the issue. But I have only done one project since making these changes. It may simply be the 32 bit float export solving the issue but the lav mic sounds so good I'm hesitant to bother doing anything else. I'm not seeing any reason to record to the camera at all these days unless shooting from a great distance which I never do

    • @GaryDmedia
      @GaryDmedia  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      When the transmitter is switched to always on, you have to use an app to access the function switch. No physical switch will do it. The always on recording stops when the transmitter is completely switched off. There is no indication other than the screen going blank.

Finally When I played a recorded video the sound was fine with my phone and Mac. When I connected my AirPods to watch the same video i noticed that the recorded sound of the video was in mono ☹️. When I extracted the original sound file and analysed using audacity it confirmed me that the sound was mono and not stereo. ☹️ what must I do in the settings to avoid this ? Must I always use both the transmitters ? If I use one what must I change in the settings to have the setero sound file ? Please help

For example, I turn a transmitter on and have it record a speaker at a wedding with a Rode lapel mic. Does it have a default bit / DB recording level? Or does it reflect the receivers setting (which can change), even though in this example is it still turned off? Thanks in advance. In short, can I strap a lapel microphone to a speaker at a wedding and have it recording cleanly with out clipping? Thanks in advance.

      Tag Happy, in the WG2 settings be sure to adjust the TX so that it has full gain. That is, don’t switch on the PAD. Even at full input gain you would have to yell into it or sing very loudly to distort the input. Adjustment of the RX gain only adjusts the output going to the camera.

    • @GaryDmedia
      @GaryDmedia  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sorry to hear that gos2011, it sounds to me like you may have a issue with the mic input on your camera.
      A way to check it is to plug your wireless mic into another recorder or camera and see if you get the same buzz. If there is no buzz then it just may be the input on your camera.

    • @GaryDmedia
      @GaryDmedia  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Gos2011, I just thought of something else. 2.4GHz wireless mics have a lot of electrical interference around them. The receiver is not only receiving signal but also communicating with the transmitter. It could be that the camera is not shielding this out. Just a thought.
      You can test this by bringing the receiver close to the camera and then stretching the lead out and getting it away from the camera. Hope you find a solution.

    Hi Gary,
    Do you know if it is possible to use this to record audio from a laptop e.g for remote interview recordings?
    I currently have a set up where my USB/XLR mic allows me to get my audio and the computers audio into my digital audio recorder to record Skype interviews but was wondering whether the rode wireless go 2 would be able to replace that set up or not.
    It would allow me to use this as my only set up for both usual vlogging plus remote podcast recording if it is possible. Otherwise I could just look at keeping my current set up and getting the wireless go 1 for standard vlogging.

    Hello Gary - we corresponded months ago right after my purchase of W-Go II and you and your tutorials were/are very helpful (and generous replying here on Comments all the way between Australia and Canada time zones!). Q: (on iphone 6 & 8 with analogue cord) I have my receiver Gain Mode and Gain set at Course and High, but an outdoor shoot this morning (Rode Lav Mic, very little wind) was a little at the top end close to distortion at moments. If I adjust to 'Mid' Gain will that give me less Mic input recording levels? I tend to project a little too much and have to remember I'm not teaching in a classroom (I lead seminars 4 times a yr for my RMT Peeps). Btw I'm also employing FilMic Pro by your lead! Photography hobby background is helping accelerate that learning - I botched some of this morning's focus as I should have locked it in 🙄). Appreciate your time very much - John.

    • @GaryDmedia
      @GaryDmedia  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      John, so good to hear from you again.
      Totally understand the projection issue. It’s hard to get into your mind you don’t need to speak to the back of the class.
      The latest firmware update added the option to add an input gain PAD.
      This is the instructions from the website:
      “To activate the pad, simply toggle the 'Pad' button in RØDE Central. You can also activate the pad from the receiver by selecting the transmitter using the pair button (‘∞‘), followed by a long press on the ‘dB’ button. Note: a short press will activate the mute function, so take care to hold the button until the pad symbol appears on the receiver display.”
      I think that will help lower the sensitivity of the lav mic. Lowering the output of the receiver will not fix distortion caused by high input into the transmitter.
      If that isn’t enough you could fit your mic under your shirt fabric.
      Hope that helps.

      Hello Zotmund, yes I have found the recording is low but because there is little background hiss you can raise in post. Just check that you have not selected MP3 for your TX recordings. MP3 is not a reliable time code for aligning with video. If this is not the case, you will have to align with setting markers.

    So helpful Gary! thank you! Two questions please! - Is there a way to trigger new recordings without having to switch the entire microphone off and on? And, is there a way to delete just one recording at a time?
