Aorus 5 NA (GTX 1650/i7-9750H) Thermal Testing

  • The Aorus 5 is an entry level gaming laptop from Gigabyte. In this testing we’ll take a detailed look at performance, see if there is any throttling caused by thermal or power limits, and find out what can be done to improve gaming performance and temperatures.
I’ll investigate undervolting, overclocking, and show you how hot the laptop gets while gaming and under combined CPU and GPU stress test with different settings, let you listen to total system fan noise and see hot spots with a thermal camera.

200070 Asus just updated their hardware so it a little bit better than the first batch of 2070... But I would recommended a 2 adapters one since all the 2070 and 2080 one need a lot more power to get full power..... They all had heating issues so only used it in cold environment... I would recommend razer 15 rtx2060 that seem to worth the money for laptop.... Since they do keep the hardware longer than other brand which only did it for a year...

So the reason why I've never done that (apart from gaming), is because I don't personally use the machines for the other workloads, so I don't really know what makes a good laptop for many of the different tasks people use them for. I get a lot of people asking what laptops to use for architecture, and I honestly have no clue.

    • @CupOfRamen
      @CupOfRamen 4 ปีที่แล้ว

@@JarrodsTech Not an architect myself, but I work with a few and these are some of the criteria they take into account for their machines:
      Important features:
-Portable, can easily fit in a standard backpack (15.6" or below, under 2.3 kg/5 lbs)
-Sufficient single core performance for AutoCAD, Rhino, 3ds Max, Revit, and V-Ray (Puget Systems articles have good info on what CPUs are good for each)
-Mid-range GPU for decent framerate when moving around the models
-High pixel density, color accurate 3k or 4K screen
, good viewing angles, good light distribution, minimal backlight bleed
      -Subtle, business-professional appearance
      for client meetings
-Fan curve that doesn't go from 0 to annoyingly loud in an instant
      Nice to haves:
-Thunderbolt 3 and HDMI 2.0 port for external monitors
-32GB or more dual channel memory
      -Quadro GPU option
      -Good warranty/support
      -8+ hours battery life
      -Robust build quality
      Less important:
      -Touchpad
      -Typing experience
      -Storage capacity
-High Refresh rate/1 ms response time/touch screen displays
-Rendering capability (most architects will have access to a workstation desktop with significantly more powerful hardware and cooling)
Of course, there is no one size fits all laptop because it all depends on each architect's workflow. Some might want a desktop replacement. Still, I think the above is a good starting point for any "top 5 laptops for architects" list :)

Let face u need to test for years before u can rank all this laptop... I can not place number 1.. But most these brands hard-drive fail would be first issue... Next is the adaptors broken and after than the overheating... Cd drive broken also a thing but nowadays laptop come without it so... I would rank Asus Rog, razer and first place.. Other brand lower since they had habit to sell u posted and you need to exchanges better one within 14 day of brought product...

This cooling system didn't seem all that fantastic, honestly this cpu really needs its own heatsinks instead of everything mixed with the gpu...
The cpu runs so insanely hot that any additional heat from the gpu just makes it even harder to keep down, and it's hard enough as it is.

    • @JarrodsTech
      @JarrodsTech  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I think shared is still a better solution, if you're only doing a CPU heavy load and not touching GPU you get more cooling capacity. There just needs to be more overall so it can handle combined workloads.

These intel cpu's always run around high 80-100c
While the ryzen runs around high 70-high 80c.
Intel needs to come up with the 10nm fast or AMD will demolish them also in the laptop market.

Well, Intel's 14nm is almost tsmc's 10nm. Plus, if they fix up their 10nm, they'll be able to jump right into 7nm tech. AMD however is more efficient, but I'd also like to see more performance and cores on their laptop side/

Depends on the machine I guess, the 3750H I recently tested throttled at 88.8c.

    No, thanks
For 1.500$ much better take MAG-15, that "Bob Of All Trades" confirmed as really good universal laptop

I mean that does cost more, but yes I did say in the game benchmark video that even the Helios 300 is better for less money.

Yea, helios 300 2019 is hit today, because combination of configuration to price is outstanding
But he(helios) is heavier, have smaller battery(however, it can be enchanted by DIY metod) and "doesn’t look" like MAG(which of course is subjective=)
Almost 400$ difference between them have a critical to many, but I don't believe in quality for this money...
