Subaru needs a street version of that... A NR STI for sale and an updated platform for the standard STI as well. Mine has 470 whp and is my daily, no reason that they can't put out a streetable 400hp STI or WRX.
My 2015 wrx has 370whp and the turbo lag is less than it was in stock form (210whp). With headers and twin scroll ball bearing turbo. You can do 450whp with almost the same spool characteristics as stock.
bluemystic7501 turbo setups in modern cars can mask almost all traces of lag. I think they could do it if they're so inclined. Most new BMW and Audi turbo engines have almost no discernable lag
Matt - What turbo are you running because I don't believe that for one second. These small engines with big power have trade-offs, there is really no way around it. Under 3.5k rpms, our modded cars are dogs in anything after 1st gear.

Now... I'm 100% Subaru. I drive a heavily modified 12 STi. But how is this a new record for a sedan? They took an STi, and race modded it. Beefed up the engine significantly, emptied the interior, race suspension. The only thing left to be a 'sedan' was the body, the rest was 100% race car.
Really want tho get those fender flares and front bumper for my car... anyone know what the kit is? Want to mold them in the body like that or if it’s possible who front fender and front by bumper replaced and mold the back into the body
Subaru of America still owes me for finding the 2008 STI lean fuel map issues that blew up 2 engines, blew a hole in the sidewall of the 4th piston. This was shortly after the release of the new body style in the Spring of 2008. Without my discovery hundreds of STIs would have been have engines blowing up nationwide ruining their brand and reputation. Look up the recall, it traces back to Georgetown Subaru in Texas with Lenard as the master mechanic working on the 2 engine rebuilds that Subaru NA paid for.
The wing on the type RA that you can buy just looks small and chintzy compared to the bulkiness of the car. The wing on the car in this video would make the type RA a much better looking car. It actually comes out to the side edges of the car unlike the garbage they give the public.

The car is obviously trimmed for racing. It's wider and has nothing in it. Not as much as a DTM car but still something between Street car and DTM (Google it, so you know what I mean)
@Wrex Wrecks nope, there is way more to that, do not get distracted. Improved chasis, dampers, engine got better and sharper response. A racing driver can talk minutes about the differences.
Can a rally car be used as a daily ? I don't mind harsh ride conditions and no air conditioning but would it be alright for a manager in a suit to drive a car with full harnesses and roll cage to the office ?

Not a stripped out, sequential shift, 700hp monster. If you can’t buy it from Subaru, it doesn’t count as anything but a race car time. Show me what a stock RA can do, not the 100-150k version...

I don't think it started out that way. originally it was so that subaru could keep competing in rally races, as you need to use a production car. so they souped up the impreza and viola: the wrx sti. toyota had the idea from the get go of making a cool car for the kids to mod, or at least an entry level rwd sports car that isn't a miata

If a race car was half a meter off the ground it couldn't create any pressure differential as the there would be too much opportunity for pressure to release. Essentially a wing on a car creates low pressure on its underside by forcing the air to travel faster than it has to on the top side, this causes down force. a race car underbody combine with its diffuser at the rear, accelerates air by squeezing it between car and road, then slows it rapidly with the diffuser, which makes low pressure, which causes suction and therefore grip. goo.gl/images/5Zh536 that should help explain.
Always an EJ but the JDM 2.0 liter. The FA can't make that kind of power RELIABLY that conrod design or the insufficient oil gallies. The 2.5 has its own issues.
The engine was released outside of Japan pre-2000, a number of STi's made their way to Britian and Australia. The EJ20 has always been the performance motor, the 2.5 has been the mass market motor

the problem is there are plenty of fast cars on the Nurburgring (the top 5 fastest production cars, excluding the Nio EP9, are awd drive cars: Huracan Performante, 918, Aventador SV, and GTR Nismo), do you expect a production Subaru WRX STI to be faster than a Huracan Performante? If you think Subaru can set the fastest production 4 door, it would have to beat the Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio (fastest production 4 door) or Porsche Panamera Turbo (second fastest 4 door), do you think a WRX STi can beat those cars? Maybe, put Subaru would have to put a lot of resource and money into something that won't make much of a sales difference. Honda had it easy since there really isn't an exotic or supercar company that makes high performance fwd supercars lol, it's going against cars like the Renault Megane R.S. 275 Trophy-R or VW Golf GTI Clubsport S, honesly competition there isn't as tough as rwd or awd.
Prodrive a legendary, where their number one concern is making mass speed. Subaru is owned by Toyota, and their number one concern is selling en mass. If Subaru were to ever make a serious production car with real speed, I think they would be better just giving it to Prodrive, and having a Subaru Prodrive production model.

The cars pretty useless as a daily driver , the car works amazing but I traded mine for a different vehicle. The main reason I couldn’t stand the car was the dealerships employees . I did get excellent service at one dealership, but 90 percent of Subaru people are total douchebags. It’s a woman’s car. A gtr is better for street, truck better for off road, rally racing’s cool but who really wants to drive a 50 thousand dollar car after taxes and interest in gravel? Subaru wrx sti has a great boxer engine but it's really expensive to build a Subaru . Building an old evo is cheaper. Both cars are great cars.

Maybe, put Subaru would have to put a lot of resource and money into something that won't make much of a sales difference.
Honda had it easy since there really isn't an exotic or supercar company that makes high performance fwd supercars lol, it's going against cars like the Renault Megane R.S. 275 Trophy-R or VW Golf GTI Clubsport S, honesly competition there isn't as tough as rwd or awd.

Prodrive a legendary, where their number one concern is making mass speed. Subaru is owned by Toyota, and their number one concern is selling en mass. If Subaru were to ever make a serious production car with real speed, I think they would be better just giving it to Prodrive, and having a Subaru Prodrive production model.

The cars pretty useless as a daily driver , the car works amazing but I traded mine for a different vehicle. The main reason I couldn’t stand the car was the dealerships employees . I did get excellent service at one dealership, but 90 percent of Subaru people are total douchebags. It’s a woman’s car. A gtr is better for street, truck better for off road, rally racing’s cool but who really wants to drive a 50 thousand dollar car after taxes and interest in gravel? I am buying a tundra TRD Pro next year and a brand new gtr. Two great tools I can use driving a Subaru that only douche bags drive isn’t what I want . Automatic outperform any stick these days!!
