Did I miss something or did you conduct the off-road portion in sport mode (on-road mode).. the car has, like, 4 or 5 modes for off-road.
I'm not talking about 2H, 4H and 4L... I'm talking about dirt, gravel, snow, sand, mud, rock crawl and Baja... I can't remember the exact combinations but that's a BIG element to overlook! Every other review reports how smooth the ride was off-road.. even at speed.
That's true. A huge selling point of this vehicle is the fox performance suspension which automatically adjusts for the mode you select. Not only making it one of the most comfortable rides off-road, but also increasing it's capabilities significantly. The whole reason you buy this over a normal ranger or ranger wildtrack is this suspension. Otherwise you'd be much better off getting any other pickup truck and spending the money you save on some aftermarket upgrades (like some protective bar work, a front diff lock, suspension upgrade/lift and bigger wheels), which would all improve your off-roading experience. I feel like he is spending too much attention to the on road performance or sporty feel, I know that is where it will drive most of the time, but this is an off-roading focused pickup, not a sports car. You can get a Mustang for similar cost which will be much more fun on road.

Some people call this type of vehicle a 'Life Style Vehicle', not a pickup truck - I think this expensive Ford fits the Lifestyle description. And more irony: stiff suspension off-road. The suspension is adjustable. You can select the driving terrain and the suspension will automatically stiffen or soften depending on what is best for the terrain, something that he failed to mention in this review and also something that's, in my opinion, one of the main reasons to buy this vehicle over a normal ranger (or wildtrack).

@@eugenio708 solid off-road truck for sure. Attention magnet in city setting, but depends what you are using your daily driver for and where you leave. Yet truly shines off-road! Actual mix fuel consumption is around 11 l/100 km. I personally would recommend and buy again.

Great video, very informative. Could you kindly do a comparison or review of the Toyota Hilux which is the best selling pickup in South Africa and Australia? This is the Ranger's greatest rival along with the likes of the Isuzu, Mazda, VW and Nissan variants.

Hi Thomas. Really enjoying your reviews. I am wondering on what setting was your suspension during offroad driving since there are several modes ( sport, normal, gravel, baja, mud&snow ) . Could that soften the ride?
Thanks! As far as I know, the suspension setting cannot be changed. The driving modes should only affect the ESC settings

And we wonder why US cars are not working outside of it. 60k for this thing? Are you freaking kidding me? 30k premium for some stickers, rear locker and suspension that doesn't quite work off road!? The only thing this Ranger accomplishes is crapping on the Raptor nameplate, which in F150 guise is one hell of a vehicle.
As for the review, great to watch and excellent as always.
60k is not the real price just the brand price, you can get it easily for 50k euros maximum at any ford dealer in europe.

The review is as good as usual. It is good to see that these cars blocked by the Raptor were patient and friendly at the end of video. They were great. I wish drivers in my country do the same.

I love the channel especially for the Touring reviews as here in South Africa we don't really get any! America calls this a truck, Europe a pickup. Here in South Africa we call them a "Bakkie". Thought you might find that interesting. Keep up the great reviews Thomas!
In Australia, where this vehicle was designed 15 years ago, it's called a "UTE".
@@dxbmick I'm familiar with a ute I was just saying that for example a Toyota Hilux is called a bakkie in South Africa. But I know the concept of a car with a load bed is called a ute. Just thought it would be interesting to mention our local term for it. We can all celebrate and respect the beginings of El Caminos. But it's transformed into something more rugged (like the hilux and ranger) used by farmers in South Africa

Maybe, just to clarify, the Ranger has a separate load area with ladder frame.
The original ute was single body coupe with bed. Designed in Australia by Ford, based on the Falcon (North American origin).
Interestingly Ford Australia produced their utility design of the Falcon all the way up to around 2000 when they separated cab from tray/bed. Weird ?
Holden (GM) did not do this to the end.
That's when the Ranger took over from Falcon.
The Ranger was designed in Australia. Guess they had nothing else to to do with the wind down of car production in Oz.
Nonetheless any pick-up/truck/utility/bakkie in Oz is called a UTE
And in Australia we call it a "ute".
Short for "utility".
Used a lot by tradies or tradesmen.

No the girl does not come with the truck because she belongs tm Thomas being that is his wife and they have been married for about 15 years and have 5 children and one more on the way being she is Prego (Pregnant) once again.....They love to make babies

I have one and really cant understand the rants about the ride quality on/off road. The suspension is not stiff at all, this is the most comfortable pick up I´d ever driven, so comfy and controlled. Yeah, tires are a bit on the hard side but from all AT tires, these BFG ride pretty good.

67000€ for a 2L Diesel and an extremely low quality interior (for the price range) has got to be a joke.. We're being scammed so hard here in europe. In the US the base F150 with the 3.3L V6 starts at $28,000 (tax not included) so you can get 2 of those. Or just get the F150 Raptor, starting at $52,000.
Well Ford is counting on people who really want to be that cool, to pay the price anyways.

The point isn't that Diesl's are bad (Kinda dumb, since even a V6 can be a diesel?) but rather that the car is ridiculously overpriced.

At that price point I expect more power and torque. A V6 diesel or a lower price would be some options.

I know both are totally different cars, but just compare the engines and the interior of both.. Standard ford interior with standard ford 2L diesel VS great quality interior with a fucking 4L biturbo V8..
So the Raptor is a bit more sporty/off-road oriented but ends up with a load and towing capacity far below a Cayenne. How does that work?

Note: To us high Range H four wheel drive you do not have to put it in neutral you can shift on the fly (only )us neutral for Low Range four wheel drive( in and out of 4 Low)That my two cents

Diesel only? Had many Diesel cars, but gone back to petrol/gas. I know most diesels are great, but a choice would be nice.

Bought my brand new 2019 VW Tiguan R Line after watching multiple reviews, but your's really sold it to me! Interesting note though, the Tiguan is now apparently built on the same Chassis as the Audi Q5, its definitely not compact anymore!

Put the engine size aside for a minute, the one main thing i really don't like about this truck is the weird trim around the back window, it looks too chunky and out of place to me, i've seen a few with it taken off, and it makes it look so much better.
Thomas.. i know this is not your style.. but if you had to choose.. what it would be. Ranger or Hilux? (No need for why/reason)

Isn't there a suspension adjustment feature on the raptor... like say sand, baja, etc???... why didn't u try to adjust the suspension?... please be reminded that its not a car... its a truck... i thought a review for its stronger offroad capability would be done... this review seems somewhat lacking...
Yes there is an adjustment feature, we werent told on location, sorry, I could only find out later

Yes, this is due to the Watts linkage in the rear. And in my opinion it is fully justifying its price. Most of the difference is in the chassis and drive train components.
I want this front grill on the new Ford Fiesta, that would certainly look great.
I love your reviews, but you sorted of got this one wrong... I have been driving a Raptor now for a week (as a temporary company car) Since I am from South Africa, we are (like the Aussies) the experts when it comes to this size of "bakkies" / utes / pick-ups.
-Firstly, that BF Goodrich tyres are 100% perfect for the Raptor - to suggest it must get highway tyres is just idiotic! (It like asking a hiker to wear slippers, rather nice CAT boots...) They are silent enough on tar, good handling in the corners, looks handsome, is very puncture resistant and gives an excellent lifespan - and never mind great off-road grip!
-Secondly, the performance from the little 2.0L is a joke! (0-100km/h in 10,5 seconds - LOL) It handles and rides fantastically due to the Fox Racing shocks, and one can feel it can handle big power - but then a VW Polo 1,6i beat you at the traffic light...
No wonder Australia is going to get the Ranger Raptor with the Mustang's Coyote 5.0L V8 soon! A V8 (or V6 Ecoboost) would be lovely in the Raptor! (And to hell with Greta Thumberg!) Hope South Africa also gets the V8!

The 2021 Ford Raptor is getting the 5.2 Voodoo engine along with the super charger that is in the Shelby GT500 that just came out and it will be paired to the 10 speed tranny...I can't wait and they have to do this because Dodge Ram is coming out with the TRX 702hp
You know you are only to lock the diffs when needed and that’s not when you’re cruising down the road and making turns...that “feeling” you refer to is killing the drivetrain!
This desperately needs a V6 diesel.

Why did you not activate off road mode before offroading? Then the dampers will soften up.
Not sure that the dampers are adaptive to the modes?
