One minor thing that was left out of Flandre's entry was the method of unlocking her. You have to beat the main story without any Continues, on Normal difficulty or higher.
You have to prove you can even survive against her
Another minor thing is that not all her attacks are static. Notable QED is one of the hardest spell cards in the game cause it's randomness.
I'll keep that in mind if I want to play that game in the future.

The EX Bosses from modes like True Arena are semi canon. The lore they give to the world are canon, but the fights themselves aren't always canon to the story.
Basically they are what-ifs. If Kirby hadn't gotten to Magalore BEFORE a certain point passed, Magalore is overwhelmed entirely by the crown and thus he MUST DIE.
I have a pretty insane interpretation of the canonicity of the EX-bosses that involves two parallel timelines, a main timeline and an EX-timeline, and starts from the fact that we _know_ Meta Knightmare Ultra is canon...

@@Dreigonix To be fair, all of Galacta Knight's fights are non canon due to when he appears. Any extra game appearances such as Meta Knightmare and The Arena/True Arena, are non canon. So to date, he has not been confirmed to exist.

The cutscene where he’s summoned shows Galactic Nova being put back together from its explosion, implying that this takes place some time after Milky Way Wishes- the way I see it, the new game modes in KSSU take place _long_ after the original modes from KSS. Meta Knightmare Ultra is incompatible with Marx Soul’s existence, though, since Marx Soul is formed from Marx’s body absorbing Galactic Nova’s wreckage, so I consider MKU part of the main timeline and Marx Soul part of the EX-timeline. Which is interesting, because it means the main timeline has an active Galactic Nova that the EX-timeline doesn’t have...

I feel gameplay wise yeah he is the best fight really an amazing fight, plot wise tough Lingering Will is the best of the 2, Lingering Will with KH2FM's Secret Ending was just the hypest shit ever at the time, I was excited for the sequel like I never was..... and then BBS turns out to be just an average game and following Dream Drop Distance was complete trash, maybe that's why whule I enjoy fighting I don't give any shit to Yozora's character or backstory, and really don't care about him.

I know they are not the best but I had fun with those 2.
let's see, Phantom had you literally stop the clock in order to avoid the Doom timer, or lose your party members for the duration of the fight, while also playing Simon Says by hitting him with the right element for the color his heart is, and Vanitas Remnant forced you to heal with items or the heal block/barrier command to avoid letting him heal too which is a pain because despite how low his health is his high defense makes it hard to get rid of and him being able to use Curaga whenever you do isn't helping either, I mean Terranort does heal as well but at least he doesn't 1 punish you for using Cure by using it as well, 2 fully restore his health, and 3 take forever to get rid of that health in the first place

You know one of the things that keeps going through my mind. I played through the entire Kingdom hearts series before playing KH3. So I did fight Lingering will.
The thing that truly blew my mind is that whether KH3 meant to or not they basically stated that Donald duck has the magical potential of a super boss with his Zeta flare attack. Because his attack does the same damage scene to Teranort as the lingering will’s key blade canon.
And people wonder why Donald seems to be able to fight people you wouldn’t think he could in the DuckTales reboot.

one that wasn't mentioned here was Demifiend in Digital Devil Saga. an interesting touch to that fight was that the music playing in the background is just the normal battle music from Nocturne. Signifying that to him, you're just a random encounter.
My #1 pick would be Demi-Fiend in Digital Devil Saga. Insanely powerful, can wreck you if you dare to block any elemental attacks, and can inflict damage that exceeds max health? And to top it off, you are nothing but a normal fight to him, as hinted by the theme.
Thank you for mentioning the entire Touhou series as a whole. I love Flandre as much as the next person, but sometimes it seems as if she's the only special boss that non fans or casual fans know. Personally, Koishi and Mokou are my favourite extra stage bosses

Josh should give Yakuza’s Amon fights a look. These are the definition of super boss with each iteration bringing an intense challenge, has relatively simple hoops to jump through in most of the games, and each fight comes with some new and unexpected bullshit to the table, and I’m including his appearances in Judgement and Fist of the North Star. Trust me, these fights are criminally underrated
I love the Amon fights. Although 6's could fuck off with all the exploding roombas that can practically one-shot you.
I probably would still have picked Yukari as the Touhou rep. She's just that extra bit more of a superboss. Flan's not the first one, she's like... the fourth or so, just the first in the Windows era. Whereas Extra stages normally unlock by clearing the game (on normal or higher, I think - and oh man normal does not prepare you for Extra), Yukari is a _Phantasm_ boss. The Phantasm stage unlocks by clearing the Extra stage, so she's not just a secret boss, she's a secret boss locked behind a secret boss. ...Plus I just like Necrofantasia more than U.N.Owen...
Though picking Flandre is fine too, she has more name recognition because * insert Ronald McDonald falling off a chair * so I'll gladly take her as a fine stand-in for all Touhou Extra bosses, as most of them would be similarly qualified!
Youre also required to capture 60 spellcards to unlock Phantasm, so just passing the game once and the extra together won't do

I'm more impressed that after years they actually managed to create a worthy successor to Lingering Will in a form of Bonus Super Boss in KH3:ReMind - that is acutally a fair and balanced ultra hard challenge - like when you die it is not because of some gimmicky stupid stuff but because you clearly made a mistake - I mean for comparision remember KH:BBS superbosses? The only thing that works is Dodge Spam and abusing Surge abilties - it is that unfair.

@@xXLunatikxXlul Lingering Will nowadays is literally tied to a trophy too AND years ago you had to pay another full price for game (japanese game because regional exclusive) to get Final Mix edition of KH2 - all things considered in KH3 we got "Final Mix" part with a DISCOUNT.
With Return to Dreamland Deluxe, they made Soul even harder, with OP True Arena abilities, and with full health, and I LOVE IT😳❤️🤩

Most likely either Yukari or Flandre herself.
Flan is iconic, and has that annoying thing where she ignores all damage done by your screen clearers.
Yukari Is A) the most powerful being of the series and B) the only time there was an extra boss after the extra boss.
Sadly I was never able to fight her so I can't tell how hard she trully is.

Flan is the only one with a unique animation for it though, where she turns into a bat.
I started playing Touhou 6 slightly before this video was made. I didn't want Flandre spoilers, so I had to wait until I beat her before watching the video. I'm sure you can see the time frame between this video's upload date and this comment.
On another note, I never realized "C-R-O-W-N-E-D" was named after the seven Return to Dreamland levels! That's extremely clever.
Slight correction about Touhou: Flan wasn't the first extra boss, extra bosses have actually been around since Touhou 2's Rika, who was... just a girl who built a tank.
As for the choice, to each their own of course, but I myself would've probably gone with Marisa Kirisame from Great Fairy Wars. Not only is it super cool to fight one of the main protagonists of the series as a character that's usually an early game boss or even midboss, but the mechanics of GFW make the fight a ton of fun, too. And of course, with Touhou, we can't just skip how *fucking phenomenal* Magus Night is as a boss theme. Seriously, if you've not listened to the GFW version of Magus Night, go do that, right now.
I was hoping for an Amon boss from the “Yakuza” series, but I guess you can’t win ’em all.
Omg i was hopefully he would at least 1 sure most of not all reuse assists but does that really matter? Some of them are amazing. Shame he didn’t include at least oh well.
I remember fighting Amon in Yakuza Kiwami, and beating him on the third try out of sheer dumb luck. Course, I spammed Tiger Drop like a motherfucker, but DUDE!!! This bitch was FAST!!
Even on NORMAL mode, this guy was hard!
@@EnvoyOfTheBlackAbyss I preferred Majima’s fight with the same guy in “0,” mostly because with Majima’s Demonfire dagger equipped on Kiryu in “Kiwami,” the fight was a fifteen-minute breeze. In “0,” you only have your wits and how you’d built Majima up to that point.
It was also really, _really_ hard on Easy, which I played at.
Redjed's Vlogs that’s intension he is suppose to be hard I mange to beat on 1 hp no damage after like 20 attempts or so. Course i used payback ring bloody binding and dojima family amulet with beast power. But it feel satisfying beating Jo amon in 4 hits.

The footage shown for Flandre's fight has actually a mod applied that multiplies the amount of bullets shot by 4. In the original it is not that insane (but it's still really hard if it's your first Touhou)
Some people want Nightmare King Grimm as HK rep, but I personally think Pure Vessel would have qualified better since he's much, MUCH harder and the buildup across Godmaster feels more climactic in general.

Should be Akuma's first appearance. An iconic moment and an absolutely broken boss battle (not helped by how cheesey the SSFT2 AI is).
@@aidanklobuchar1798 Honorable mention to God Rugal from Capcom Vs SNK 2. Motherfucker throws Shin Akuma’s corpse to the side like it’s nothing and then proceeds to give you one of the most difficult fights in a fighting game.
Minor correction about Touhou, Josh: The Extra Stage - and by extension, the Extra Boss - has been a series staple since game 2. I also think Flandre's far from the nastiest Extra Boss - Koishi would like to say hello - but that's a matter of opinion.

@@tomlynmathewsjr7514 Yeah Mokou is a complete opposite to Touhou 8's reputation of being one of the easiest games in the series. Honestly just that extra stage in general can eat my entire ass.
One boss I'd add here is Mold-1 from Control. This mutated plant puts every other boss in the game to shame, mainly due to how much he throws at you, and how little wiggle room you have in the arena.

I can relate about Sigrun, especially on the hardest difficulty : it took me 50+ tries before I beat her. She's a formidable opponent.

I dont know if this counts but Tales of the abyss has 2 that I think are pretty good:
The first is the cameo battle, a tradition of the series. Its a secret battle in the colosseum by beating all other courses (and sometimes some sidequests) where you fight the main characters of previous games. The reason I say the Tales of the abyss is because all of the party members have the capacity to resuttect the others, if you dont beat them in a specific order you'll lose, and they are REALLY strong.
The second is the ACTUAL superboss Nephilim. It's from a sidequest where you have to get special weapons that are actually useless. But if you got them all and go to fight her, she uses them all with their true potencial unlocked and can use the special attacks of your party. Not to mention that she can use ALL spell mystick artes, including 3 that can nuke the entire screen.
Once again, i don't know if they count, but i thought i should mention them.

I myself am honestly still at the very low end of being in the Touhou Fandom. A total noob at best. And yet even I am delighted to see that the series actually made it onto one of Josh's lists.
As an honorable mention, I'd like to add Death from Dragon's Dogma to this list. While he WAS added to the game as part of the expansion/re-release, Dark Arisen, I'd consider him a Super Boss for a few reasons. He's completely optional to deal with as you can easily avoid a fight even when he appears by just fleeing the area, he's INCREDIBLY lethal due to his abilities, weapon reach, and the fact that his scythe WILL insta-kill you and your Pawns, and especially for what he represents. While it IS up for debate if he's the actual embodiment of death itself or just a Grim Reaper-esque enemy, what he represents certainly ISN'T, and that is the inevitability of death. Even if you defeat him, he WILL return in another part of the island's towering labyrinth while other bosses don't typically reappear until after you leave or after defeating the FINAL boss, Daimon. I tend to treat him like the ultimate challenge of the game as a whole... Can you conquer death?
My favorite super bosses are Bonetail and Shadoo from Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door and Super Paper Mario Respectivly. In order to get to them, you need to make it through the Pit of 100 Trials. For Shadoo, you need to go though the Flopside Pit of 100 Trials twice.

@@matteste Philemon is easy for a megaten superboss. I think Elizabeth and Demi Fiend are the most iconic ones and one of them should've been on the list.
I love both the fight against the twins in P5 and the fight against the Velvet Rangers in PQ2. They are not super hard but a lot of fun and I like the bosses as characters. The twins share the spot of my second favorite character in Persona 5 after Morgana and I like the other Velvet Siblings too. So when I loose I still get the satisfaction of seing characters I like kick some ass.

I absolutely agree with Lingering Will being an iconic superboss in Kingdom Hearts history.
Back in 2005, players who beat KH2 with enough game completion were in awe at the secret ending showing three mysterious armored Keyblade wielders. To my knowledge, we'd never gotten a deep dive into Kingdom Hearts lore outside of our main protagonist Sora, so this made everyone go nuts with speculation. The aesthetic of the cutscene was also such a departure from the cutesy Disney designs or sleek fantasy of Square Enix. The Keyblade gravegyard, the rust covering the armor and Keyblades, the somber mood of the three warriors, and the foreboding shadowy figure at the end felt like a jump to a grittier, darker side to Kingdom Hearts that made us excited for the next installment. All we recognized was the Kingdom Key, Kingdom Key D, and Riku's Way of the Dawn, and we were all wondering what the connection could be between the world we knew and this mysterious setting.
Then in 2007, when Final Mix dropped in Japan, the Lingering Will boss and new secret ending made everybody go wild with speculation. "Why the hell is Roxas here?! Who's that blue haired girl? That old guy looks a lot like Xehanort - how are they connected? OMG is that Sora grown up or his dad? I must know!" Questions that wouldn't be answered until 3 years later when Kingdom Hearts: Birth By Sleep was released.
Hype for Kingdom Hearts was at a peak that wouldn't be reached again until arguably the announcement of KH3. And I think a lot of it is thanks to the mystique surrounding the Lingering Will.

When I first beat Lingering Will, I had done it on Critical mode Lvl 99 after a literal non-stop 10 hours of trying over and over. Suffice it to say, it was satisfying as all hell when I finally did.
Superbosses? 'K. This'll be a doozy. Also, Spoilers ahead:
-Nier: Automata: Emil. You have to go out of your way to clear his sidequests and the first fight with him is while you control 9S. He is at maximum level, and you may need to grind levels and upgrade your weapons to maximum level too. Once you do, after getting the True ending of the game, a new mission unlocks that can be selected from scenarios A, B, or C. You fight Giant versions of him that are also at maximum level and when near death, activate a ten second countdown to defeat him or else your game ends in a non-standard game over.
-No More Heroes: Henry. He is the True Final boss of the game. Bitter difficulty makes him take up to a thousand hits to defeat him and when low on health he can perform a one-hit-kill on you (and an awesome one at that.) Get that Infinite Charge for the Tsubaki Mk. 3 ASAP.
-You mention Touhou and Flandre Scarlet? I raise you DoDonPachi and Hibachi. She has been the True Final Boss of the series, but her Daifukkatsu Black Label incarnation is to be noted. Hibachi, already a Superboss, has an alternate incarnation called Zatsuza that can only be fought if you clear the original and extra playthroughs of the campaign without using bombs or dying even once. Zatsuza cranks the utter insanity that are Hibachi's shot patterns up to eleven and breakes the knob. Her theme song is an utterly chaotic electronica track that apparently incorporates a death chant and funerary prayer as its lyrics. Seeing it for the first time made me actually yell "What the Hell is this!?" The third game, Saidaioujou, makes Hibachi the Final Boss while having an alternate incarnation as the true final boss called Inbachi, that gives Zatsuza a run for her money.
-The Binding of Isaac: Afterbirth+: There are multuple final bosses, but the Ultimate Final Boss of the game is called Delirium. It shapeshifts into all the other bosses during the fight, including the other final bosses and teleports all over the arena almost without any tells. As it losses health, its shapeshifting and teleportation is more frequent and chaotic. The most difficult task is beating this boss with the One-HP character, "The Lost" on the hard difficulty to achieve 100% completion. And you are still not done, since there is another character to be unlocked called "The Forgotten", and that is another can of worms entirely.
-Final Fantasy X International/HD Remaster: There are Multiple Superbosses in this game. The "Easiest" one is Omega Weapon with over a million hit points, multiple multi-target attacks, and an ultimate attack called Nova that hits the entire party and can break the damage limit: so, if you don't have equipment that let's you have more than 9999 HP, you are toast. Nova can be learned by one of your characters to use as one of their ultimate attacks, but you still need special equipment to break the damage limit yourself.
Additionally: After a certain point in the story, a series of superbosses that are corrupted versions of your Aeons appear at various points in the map, and if you backtrack to them, you can be ambushed into fighting them. These Dark Aeons are considered the most powerful superbosses in the game and overpower Omega Weapon by a country mile and then some. For example: Dark Valefor, the "weakest" of them only has 800,000 HP. She can use one of her Overdrives as a regular attack that hits the entire party. Also she is extremely agile and it is guaranteed that she will have the first attack at the beginning of the fight. And all Dark Aeons break the damage limit, so there is that. Once all of them are somehow defeated, the antepenultimate superboss, Penance, becomes available to fight and it is a marathon of a boss to beat, with multiple targets that self-restore once beaten and can buff and heal Penance if allowed.
Then there are the monster creations from the Monster Arena that must be unlocked by using special weapons to capture monsters in every area of fhe game. Once you've captured enough and other requirements are met, a special boss fight is unlocked. Two of these are the Penultimate Superboss, Shujinryu, and the Ultimate Superboss, Nemesis. And they are the most difficult fights in the entire game and if unprepared, can wipe you out in seconds, even if you maxed out all your characters.
Penance, Shujinryu and Nemesis cannot be damaged reliably if you don't have your characters' Celestial Weapons obtained and powered up. And that task is game-spanning. It is tedious and extremely difficult to do. For example, one of the items needed to power up one of these weapons by half requires you to go to a specific part of the game world and dodge lightning _two hundred times in a row._ And no, there is no counter and the item is in another screen; if you are hit by a lightning bolt on your way there, whoops! You have to start over! If you leave the screen you are in, the counter resets and _and you have to start over!_ If you save your game, NOPE! The counter resets and *YOU HAVE TO START OVER!* Oh and did I mention that the Dark Aeons block the way to at least two of these Items for the Celestial weapons, and if you didn't get them before they appear, you are screwed!?
Yeah FFX doesn't scew around. It makes you ask yourself if it is even worth it to try to complete the game at all.

Fighting Demi-Fiend (and to a lesser extent other SMT bosses) is like boxing Muhammed Ali, except there's different, additional rules from regular boxing and if you break those rules he shoots you with a gun, and also will sometimes just shoot you anyways and expect you to deal with it.
As a fan of shin megami tensei to death, the superbosses... they suck. They are hard, but not very fun.
@@megatennepster3833 You just summed up most superbosses in general. I can never get why people love Final Fantasy superbosses when they take 2-5 hours to beat. At least SMT superbosses are still short!
To give an honorable mention of my own: THE REAPER. Anyone who’s played the Persona games know how frightening that boss was, at least on a new file. You’re grinding in a dungeon, then suddenly you hear that ominous chain rattling....then it appears...and the game tells you to RUN.
Heh. The Velvet room attendents are more frightening.
Two super bosses come into my mind:
- Magician Faust (The Legend of Dragoon) - You can't hit him until you get the Vanishing Stone, which you get by collecting all 50 Stardust. Afterwards, you'll be up against his various magic attacks and he has a lot of turns. Just equip your strongest Additions and magic armor, and he'll go down.
- Izumi (Shenmue II) - I haven't faced her, but I know that you have to meet certain requirements to trigger the fight. From what I heard, she's the toughest boss in the game. She's quick, hits hard, and has what looks like a difficult QTE. You're also treated to listening to the Tomato Convenience Store music because why not.

I would have mentioned Shiki in Fate/Extra.
Not only are we fighting a main heroine from another one of the author's novels, but she only shows up in NG+
And she CAN be really devastating.
The final Valkyrie disappointed me, not the fight itself but because it wasn't Brynhildr.

Cuelex is not 'super hard' compared to many on this list, but, in-scale, in-world, he's pretty hard for Mario RPG's overall difficulty curve.
i was expecting Lingering Will to be high on here. He definitely feels like one of the most fair super bosses in the series. unlike Mysterious Figure from BBS who can combo you for 30 seconds straight, no I'm not exaggerating.
Mysterious Figure was also added because Japanese BBS fans complained that Vanitas Remnant was too easy, so...let’s just say that Squenix might’ve been a bit vindictive when designing him lol.
and don't forget the KHFM Mysterious Figure who copied Lingering Will's curse attack but made it (nearly) impossible to avoid with the only saving grace for it being that Tinker Bell had no limit on how long she can be out and didn't sacrifice Donald and Goofy for auto-life and continuous healing

While no where near as strong. Rika from Touhou 2-Story In Eastern Wonderland was the first Extra Boss in Touhou. A total of 4 Extra Bosses came before Flandre. Rika, Mugetsu, Gengetsu and Alice Margatroid.

i am happy that Culex made the list, i found him long before i had GameFAQs to rely on and beat him after a few tries, he's not the hardest super boss of all time, but i feel proud that i discovered and beat this guy all by myself.

I'm surprised no mention of FF12 Yiazmat. That boss took so long to unlock and the fight is so difficult and long that getting through it gives you a sense of accomplished when you come out triumphant.

id like to point out Ozma. final fantasy 9. lets go over your criteria.
1) jump through hoops to find it. oh god yeah. you need to play through the entirety of a side plot, of a minigame. chocobo hot and cold was basically trying to find treasure in several various set locations, with the main lead riding around on a chocobo and digging its beak into the dirt, and getting told if you were close or not to the buried item. eventually you find clues to overworld locations that hint to better treasure. 3 of the 20 or so of these (found at random, or not in a set order at least) upgrade your buddy from basic, to the ability to wade shallow water, to mountain climbing, deep sea traversing, and finally flight. once you get flight, you get told of a floating island. find it (its constantly changing overworld locations, just for fun), and you get told "hey, this cave (on this island floating above the clouds) is giving off a weird feeling. do you want to go in and see? and so begins the ozma fight.
2) completly optional. oh thank the divines its optional. its never mentioned once in any main game location.
and 3) intended to be a difficulty spike. oh hells yes. first, your main melee attacks? cant hit it. did i say you had to complete ONE sidequest? i lied. theres two. the other one is rather simple though. run around the overworld, giving friendly monsters the gems they ask for. once you give the friendly Yan (by the way, another contender for this list. the island you find it on cant be reached except by the flying bird as well. so yeah.) it tells you "thanks! now you can hit the round guy!". now your main attacks can hit it. ozma also cheats and cheats HARD with the combat system. the core combat system functions on a time bar delay system. basically, you perform an action, then wait for a bar at the bottom of the character screen to fill before you can do anything. 99.999% of enemies follow this rule as well. not Ozma. if he is still waiting and you select an action to do, his bar fills instantly, and ozma goes next. my only work around was to wait for him to be mid action and telling my team what to do as he is still doing it. also, he casts curaga on himself. just for fun. and doomsday, which brings a meteor down to hit everyone on the field, himself included. he has a looong list of attacks which im not going to list, but heres the thing: if you make all of your party immune to an attack, he wont use it. so yes, you CAN get dark immunity on everyone, but then it stops casting doomsday. this goes for all of his attacks. basically, Ozma, is the true test of "do you know this game? IM STILL GOING TO SMITE YOU."

If you really want to have Chakravartin on a Top 10 list, just do a Top 10 DLC Bosses with the condition being that the DLC has to be connected to the main story, like a continuation or prequel to it, and not just something extra to have that has no relevance or impact on the plot of the story whatsoever.

Darth Malgus from Star Wars the Old Republic is in my opinion an honorable mention. He has interesting lore for a superboss. Malgus was a Sith Lord who recognized that the Order's biggest weaknesses were their anti-alien bigotry and in-fighting. He was the exception to the former even having a Twi'lek wife and wanted to remove both flaws in the Empire during the post-game where he takes advantage of the power vacuum left by the Emperor's disappearance (He was the final boss for the Jedi Knight class story) and forms his own splinter faction with himself as Emperor and a diverse collection of Alien Species like Ongree, Trandoshans and Kaleesh. Just to get to him, you have to fight through the Illum planetary storyline and two flashpoints and have to face a lot of bosses in the process most notably Lord Seraven the Sith Lord who was assigned to be the Ambassador of Voss and everyone's favorite meatbag hating assassin droid HK-47 who is even more entertaining to fight if you have got HK-51 in your party. As for Malgus himself, he is not that difficult save for two major mechanics. For one attack, he will plant seeds of doubt on one of your party which will leave them incapacitated for a time and then he will force choke everyone else in the party leaving the player he previously put doubt in to face him alone and he hits like a tank. Also before a patch, Malgus would stop taking damage after losing 90% of his health and you could only beat him by using an attack that could knock him into a conveniently placed bottomless pit (This is the Empire they are a architectural requirement). I love the boss if only because I love seeing in hindsight how he played both the Republic and the Empire like a damn fiddle and the previous Empire flashpoints showed he was planning this coup for a long time.

Yeah yiazmat is frankly more tedious then hard, esspecually considering you can take breaks in between fighting him.
I'm gonna be honest. I clicked purely because I saw Flandre in the thumbnail -and super bosses are kinda dope.-
I'm not sure I'll ever be challenging her since I still have a TH15 to beat on normal. Then maybe Extra mode, but probably not so much since I plan to move on to 16, 17, and now 18 as my second, third, and fourth main series installments respectively. Been trying to keep most of the music away so I can listen to it in-game first.
So, I saw "smartest bosses" and "out-of-place bosses" before this. Great work on all three. A fan of Kirby, Touhou, perhaps Disgaea, along with other franchises? That ought to make for some interesting countdown content. Consider me on board with further viewing.
Super bosses are a fun challenging and rewarding encounters throughout many games. Hell occasionally they're even more epic and harder than final bosses of the games they're featured in.

@@evanczthehunter57 Games can have more than 1 super boss though, and since you never have to fight NKG to continue the story or finish the game, that qualifies him for being a super boss. Doubly so since you can skip his fight and finish his DLC by ending the nightmare instead of completing the ritual.
I would've put down Ultra Snatcher from "A Hat in Time's" Death Wish Mode.

@@HB-fq9nn I don't know in honesty, but Ultra Snatcher is tough, not to mention you have to face a long boss rush to face him. Of course, other good examples of super bosses I know of can be found in the Yo-Kai watch series. So many hard bosses that are difficult to get to. Some examples include Snartle, Skulk, Mallice, Kat Kradel, and KAbuking to name a few.
The Wizard from Golden sun 2 : He's basically the same deal as Culex (big baddy who summons orbs as minions, covering him) but the thing is, you're literally flung into him !
Picture this, you've been exploring the map and finding all sorts of caves, nooks and crannies that requires a specific ability to explore further. Fairly early, one in particular that you still haven't got the first clue on how to access... Then, you get to the Jupiter Lighthouse and finally unlock the Fly and teleport abilities. You come back to the cave in the first half of the world, do a little bit of puzzle solving, hop onto the bird platform you created SUDDEN MEGABOSS FIGHT !
All other bosses, optional or not thourough the game, you get a heads up before fighting (or at the very least you know this area is dangerous) this one, you think you unlocked a dungeon to explore, and find yourself in the hardest fight in the game ! What I'm saying is : it's very much possible to start this fight unprepared, even on subsequent playthroughs where you forgot what happens there !

Nameless King from Dark Souls 3. You need to defeat another optional boss to get a specific emote, go into a specific room in the worst area in the entire game, and use it at a specific spot to access his area, plus he's widely regarded as the hardest boss in DS3's base game.
