  • Here’s a video of the top five ways that I fish spawn sacs for salmon and steelhead and trout in the Pacific Northwest. They have been gaining a lot of popularity on the West Coast recently and for good reason. They offer an extra option to catch salmon Trout and Steelhead when you don’t have any fresh bait or cured roe. Get out there and give it a shot and good luck.

      I prefer to wear a nitrile glove when making them and using them. Just helps keep your hands clean and extra unnecessary scent off them

    Thanks for sharing your tips and tricks on fishing with spawn bags. I usually just fish the first 2 ways. The first one is mainly around the river mouths or where the water is slow, the bead and bag combo is popular river fishing under a float. As for the jigs, I usually run them empty but in cold weather, I tip them with a live wax worm which helps trigger more bites. Great video, Nick. 👍

      Never too late to learn something new. I find myself watching 10 year old videos and learning good info all the time. Best of luck out there.

    Can you drift them?

      Yeah. Add puff balls inside the bag to make them bouyant or add a corkie. They drift just fine.

    Are these the fire balls real eggs or the fake ones?

    • @NorthwestOpenSeason
      @NorthwestOpenSeason  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I’ve used both, but I definitely prefer the fire balls real eggs. The fake ones are much more durable if you think you’ll be banging them on the rocks a lot. But I think the real eggs get more bites.

    I know I could google it but what are fish pills

    • @NorthwestOpenSeason
      @NorthwestOpenSeason  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Fish pills are little foam balls about the size of a pencil eraser. You can add them to the bag and they will help it float.

    Looks really time consuming

      Which part? Making the spawn sacs? Not really, you can make a jar full in 10-15 minutes.

      When im not on the water I love to kill time by doing fishing related things. So in my opinion the more time consuming the better.
