  • Today Jenny is taking a look at two amazing locomotives that will fit into the palm of your hand - together! They are Bachmann Narrow Gauge Baldwins. Let's see what she thinks of them.

If you are interested in fitting an engine crew, I found that the 00 scale would not fit, I had to use a H0 sized figure. Thanks for the video, Mel

Great review! It persuaded me to buy a 'Sid'! I am new to OO9 and also amazed by the detail and quality of the mechanism in such a tiny model. The DCC chip fitting was much simpler than on many much larger OO scale standard gauge locos. All round, a really beautiful model

You're making this way too difficult for me. I was fine spending too much $$ on my G gauge and N gauge, and now you're convincing me to build ANOTHER layout! I really like your videos.

My Baldwin 10-12-D OC’s are named Dylan & Dexter. They have the Long Cab Roof, they are Black with the Silver colored Roof, Smokebox, and Funnel. They are No.14 & No.15 of the NSR (North Sodor Railway) Respectively.

Also, I approve of your approval of these models.

A little belated, but another note on Sid... Okay, it's a 'What if' loco, but the number is still wrong. Presumably 763 was chosen because it is consecutive with 762 Lyn, but irl 763 was a King Arthur, Sir Bors de Ganis. There should be a suitable number available from the O2s which were sent to the Isle of Wight

I wasn't really interested in 009 until our family holiday in 2019 when we spent it on a narrow gauge line in Cornwall (Lappa Valley). Whilst there I placed the order for the DCC Sound version. Suffice to say I have been delighted with it and it brings back memories of the holiday there!

The Statfold Barn example has gone to Workshop X in Derbyshire now, it has been discovered that the WD number is 789 so is the next one to the example that is running at the Leighton Buzzard Railway near Milton Keynes. Hopefully 789 will be running fairly soon as the other loco from Statfold (a Tamar class loco that is being restored to burn Seed Oil) is due to return fairly soon from Workshop X before it is commissioned and used to test how the future of fuels for steam engines will operate.

Thank you for such a useful video Jenny. I've just bought the GVT version for £99.95 from Kernow Model Rail Centre. These really are superb models and so much better than my 40+ year old Langley white metal kit on an old Minitrix 0-6-0 chassis.

Jenny thanks for a great video, absent mindedly cannot find the paperwork that came with it, I had put dcc in when it first came out, and now wanted to put a sound decoder in, so finding you vid was great 👍 and it is the only one that shows the taking apart and fitting.

I can't wait for the quarry Hunslets. I think I might splash out on those

Nice as the quarry Hunslets are, it would be great to see a bigger Hunslet too. Hunslets were even more widely spread around the world than the Baldwin here and came in all shapes and sizes. There's surely a gap in the market for something that is not so immediately identifiable as belonging to a particular railway.

Meneth Tattis is a very interesting little layout!! And by the way, I spelled it the way it’s said rather than the proper way, which is Menedd Tattis!!

Just watched this it’s a really good review I am more sold on the sid now. Just. A note on couplers. You can swap the couplings for the peco ones really easily if that helps

I think you have just had the Model of the Year 2020 in your hands. As for value for money, I think you were one point out, it should have been 9/10. Very nice video. Martin. (Thailand) ( A Triang/Hornby Fan.)

A pair of beauties indeed. The fictional L&B example with the half cab would in reality be a uncomfortable engine to work in bad weather on Exmoor !

  • @Mariazellerbahn
    @Mariazellerbahn 3 ปีที่แล้ว

Detail options .... standard chimney / wide capped chimney .... extra water tank balancing pipe / no extra balancing pipe .... with rear water pump pipe / without .... headlamps / no headlamps .... short original cab / extended cab / partly enclosed cab .... vacuum pipes / no vacuum pipes .... standard cab windows / eyebrow cab windows ....
    Amazing little models.

I have three of these. They run beautifully. Don't forget that they all use the same chassis.
I also have a Heljan Manning Wardle which is an expensive ornament. "developed in conjunction with Peco" is the claim, but it won't negotiate Peco points.

The SID one is fictitious as the L&BR did not run a Baldwin 10-12-D though they did have a 2-4-2 Baldwin LYN of which a replica now runs at Woody Bay,

Hey Jennifer, are these compatible with Peco OO9 track and a Gaugemaster controller? Just curious. Also, can these things handle 228mm radius curves?

They are fab locomotives. I have two of the WWI Baldwin locomotives and a Mini trains HOe version in an US army paint scheme. I am tempted by a second US army Baldwin too and the only difference is white writing instead of black.

Great review I've currently got one io order and sorry to burst your bubble but I'm pretty sure that the southern 'Sid' is completely fictional and I believe it's a what if the l&b decided to buy one after ww1
