    Great explanation of OO9 that I've been looking for. Love the Kato chassis approach. Thank you!

    I mean I have an n scale layout and really wanted to try 009 still being able to use both together … however for some reason they have a new coupler … and I don’t know why they didn’t stick with the normal n scale couplers on to make 009 and N completely comparable but I guess I need to make a converter wagon . Aka get a n scale wagon with the normal couplers on both ends in peco with the swappable coupler . Remove one of the couplers on one side and then add a 009 coupler in its place . Then you can couple 009 locos to N wagons and coaches and vice versa . There ya go

    This reminders me of a funny story I think you'll like to hear. I was at the Talyllyn's "Anything goes" gala back in July, and someone mistook me for you! I was chatting to someone at one of the stations and someone literally came up to me and said "Excuse me, are you Jago Hzzard?"
    Which is weird considering I come from the North west and have quite a distinct accent, but it feels kind of validating to be compared to a youtuber I like! I showed my (non-railfan) friend one of your videos for comparison, and she said we have a similar vocal rhythm, despite the accent differences.

    I used an 8 wheel Kato chassis under a 3D printed W&L ( ish) loco body. I used a battery and run it via R/C using a micron RC reciever.

    Well that's what I call good timing. I have been thinking of making a little brewery railway this winter and I have been contemplating about what rolling stock to have. Narrow gauge is what I plan to use and the Tyneside Kerr Stuart Wren looks an ideal loco along with the Bagnall. I'm also getting a bit twitchy at the sight of the Simplex. Yes. I know. All three.
    Thanks for the inspiration and I am looking forward to seeing you 009 layout.

    I had no idea that this size even existed until now, I could never afford to spend the $ . Cheers Jago from California !

    The trouble with all these body kits is getting the mechanisms; the Kato ones have increased in price recently, and the very few steam-outline chassis are usually rather lacking in that they only have the simplest running gear. OK for certain designs but what if your loco featured Walschearts valve gear?
    The vast majority of designs, in fact, are based on chassis from N scale locos that have been OOP for decades. Langley is a big offender here, as they seem to refuse to update their catalogue to update the OO9 kits. Even most of the 3d printed collections now seen on Ebay are for chassis that just aren't around now.

    I had no idea this existed - but of course it should! What a happy coincidence that 00 on n gauge track actually fits with a real narrow gauge!

    Looking forward to seeing your 009 layout. I'm still trying to find time to finish my coffee table 009 layout and cannot decide if I add a narrow gauge line to my OO gauge main layout or build a separate narrow gauge layout under or over the main gates one - so all inspiration welcomed

    • @ReggieArford
      @ReggieArford ปีที่แล้ว

      If you do a combined OO/OO9 layout, you can do dual-gauge track, turnouts, etc.

    • @jamesfrancis7025
      @jamesfrancis7025 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ReggieArford I keep looking at the combination track and wish I had room to introduce it to the main layout. I am sure that a layout with both track gauges will appear at some point though!

    Hi Jago, I’ve been viewing your videos about the tube for a couple of months now, really excellent, although they are making me feel homesick. How nice to see you’re into 009. About a year ago I bought a Peco track starter pack, a Bachman loco and a Peco coach, although I haven’t had the time to set it up yet, I’m thinking over ideas. I’d love to see your layout. I’d like mine to work in three dimensions but the 2% slopes take such great distance to climb any significant height. The 4% slopes just look to steep to me. Any thoughts Jago ? Best Wishes, Nigel

    4:18 I realise that your point is the engine's a bit large, but is that carriage really to scale? It's tiny compared to the size of the driver and fireman.

    • @JagoHazzard
      @JagoHazzard  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven’t tried it yet. However, modern Kato mechanisms are pretty smooth and even the 103 could shunt pretty well.
