Old Grand Dad BiB is now my go to daily bourbon just from watching you guys. I finally tried it last week and I’m very happy with it. For the life of me I cannot find ET BiB after going to 4-5 stores here in my county. Will keep looking. You guys have helped me find a replacement for Buffalo Trace since I can no longer find it PERIOD, here in Maryland.
Thanks for this series, guys: The Battle of the BiBs! And it's been great to see the OGD and ET, lower-priced and widely available bottles, do so well. Cheers, Kurt & Trenton!
As someone who is just getting into drinking bourbon's and whiskey outside of a cocktail these series are so good. Really gives some some great ideas on bottles to look out for. Especially brands that I would not have thought of like Old Grand Dad.
Great Series. After watching the round that Early Times first showed up I went and bought a bottle and immediately thought it was winner. I have most of the bottles you chose for this series. Pulling Old Fitz was a good move, that is clearly #1.
Wow! We finally get to see Trenton in view! As you mentioned, having the Old Fitzgerald $120/bottle BiB compared against the others that run $25 to $65/bottle may not be a fair comparison. Thank you for the great series!
What a great series guys! Love the father son interaction , in fact my son is joining me this week to sample 15-16 bottles over the next week. Keep it up!
I watched this video yesterday right when it was posted. It reminded me to go out and get another bottle of Early Times BIB as i just finished mine. I have only had the new bottle, as i have never seen the old one here in Colorado. I love the new one. But I Just got lucky, because yesterday i happened to stumble upon 4 old ones. Needless to say, I bought them all!!! Haha
I started drinking old grand dad about 3 years ago. I enjoy OGD 114. It won't break the bank. Good neat or as a mixer too. I will need to pick up old fitz too. Good video
No surprise Early Times did so well, it really is great. Found it on sale for $21 a liter and bought 4 a while back, the sazerac branded. Great series!
Hi guys! Love your straightforward approach to your channel. I have to say that I probably would have never bought a Wilderness Trail yellow BIB but picked it up based on your comments on it. Really really great choice and I look forward to trying more of your recommendations. Keep up the good work and here’s to Trenton on camera more often.
This episode cements you guys as my favorite whiskey youtube channel. I love it! One thing that NEEDS TO BE MENTIONED ALL!!! Your Old Fitzgerald is a 14yr. There is an 8 and 9 year Old Fitz bib on the market that might not beat out the ET Bib. I had the 9 year last month and I was underwhelmed. It was still good but a little flat. I would love to find the 14 and 17yr to try. When you consider these 4 yr Bibs were going up against a 14yr bib it's a little unfair.
Great series, really enjoyed watching the match ups unfold. Pleasure to get to see Trenton on the right side of the camera. Look forward to more of these. As always, you guys nailed it.
I found your channel about two months ago and I’ve mostly been watching videos in reverse order that you’ve put them out, but this one randomly popped up. Interesting to see how comfortable Trenton has become in front of the camera since this video! As always, loved the content!
You two are great on camera. I have the old grandad B&B, and finally found a bottle of Early Times B&B by Sazerac and the Early Times is an amazing value. Well done gentleman!
Amazing 🤩, glad i have 4 bottles of it ET & this is why, what a great value & sells out qickly in MI, Not had OGD bonded, going to get that one- $28, one of the only one i dont have in all your brackets (luv ogd 114), how about a 12 year scotch bracket like this ? 👍
Fun! Nice job! Good to see T in front on the camera. Other than Old Fitz thought Taylor would walk in this, but great that you all are true to you palate and not what you think was in each glass. ET at $25 for a 1L is an outstanding selection. Interesting to hear that the Wilderness, what I call “barn funk” carries into their wheated BiB. I have a higher proof Trail pick and I like it, but you gotta be in the mood for it knowing what it will offer up. Barn! Would be great to do a “straight rye” blind as I know I get some really different tastes and notes off of different bottles. Keep it up!
Early Times BiB is a fantastic pour! This also won my last tasting that I hosted with friends and neighbors. We had a flight of 7 pours. Basil Hayden 10Y, Michter's Sour Mash Toasted (2019), Orphan Barrel Rhetoric 20Y, Wild Turkey Masters Keep BiB 17Y, Early Times BiB (BF), Makers Mark Se4-PR5, Kentucky Owl B10 Bourbon. Early Times BiB was the unanimous winner for the group! Eye opening for sure!
Great video all.. I really enjoyed seeing how each of you ranked your own bib's, & it helps to show those new to bourbon not all pallets are alike. Now to the funk in wilderness trail Wheated bib.. there is a product at most all grocery stores , inc walmart. It is ( Colgin LIQUID SMOKE , Hickory) it is located with the marinades, it's a small 4 oz bottle.. plz taste this, hell you can just smell it, & give me your thoughts . To me this is so very close to the funk in WTWBIB especially on a fresh crack. So possibly it's a hint of hickory.
Another great series! Picked up some OGD Bonded today. Great pour! Seems we can't get Early Times here in Pennsylvania, or I would have gotten it as well. Keep up the great work!
A tough competition for sure! My choices would have been 1. Early Times, 2. Old Grand Dad, 3. E. H. Taylor, and I've never had the opportunity to taste the others but expect I would enjoy Old Fitzgerald BIB based on and Very Special Old Fitzgerald I purchased at the Bourbon Heritage Center several years ago. Keep up the good work and let's see some Jim Beam Distillery comparisons, perhaps between their small batch collection with a couple others thrown in.
Looks like I need another Early Times to compare to the Brown Forman version. I liked the old version, but the Sazerac bottling should hold its own in light of your results.
Nice to put a face with a voice Trenton! Appreciate the palette differences and honesty in the tastings. Offer is on the table for samples of the Brown Foreman version just let me know how to get it to yall. Can't wait for the next series of blinds. My vote is barrel proofs.
I believe y’all had the brown-forman early times bottle about 2 years ago. You featured it in a video titled my favorite “whiskys and bourbons-low,medium,high” as your budget pick. The black cap, if I’m not mistaken, is how you know it is brown-Forman and not sazerac! So fun watching this series!
I saw this within a few hours of your posting but I wasn't logged in. So, now I am and can comment. I really liked this bourbon BiB blind tasting and how you did it. I have to say that I'm glad Early Times was the winner! Thanks.
I had to go out and buy Early Times blue label. It took 3 stores before finding it. I like it and found that Sazerac owns it but they also own the Col. EH Taylor! Plus 1792, Buffalo Trace, Blanton's, Weller, more.
Always great content on here men!! (and Michelle) Old Fitz 14 is what kicked my love of bourbon in to HIGH gear.. had it at Abe and Louie's in Boston last year... BLEW my mind. I now have an 8yr spring 21, an 11 fall 21, and the 17 spring release from this year.. but would give anything to find that 14 yr again! Keep up the great work.. all the best
Amazing series guy fun to watch ! Maybe the next one you do one where you take you favorite bottles in a certain price range say (100-150 ) or whatever and blind them and find your favorite bottle for each range . But you don’t know what each other chose
Really cool to watch this as sort of the Trenton coming out party with him behind the camera and doing his own rankings. Really cool to see how this channel has developed
Wow...what a shocker! Very cool. So now I am off to the store to get Old Fitzgerald (if I can find it), Early Times, and Old Grand Dad. Glad you guys liked my suggestion for this and made it a fun tourney. Thanks again Kurt and Trenton!
Dude, you nailed it! No idea. That was 2 yrs ago lol and at that time I am sure I had no idea what I had in my hand. My oh my how things change in just a couple yrs.
Gday Kurt and Trenton, thoroughly enjoyed this series you both did. When I can I’ll be getting these bottles in the Middle East but it’ll be a struggle I’m sure. I know I’ve said this before but please please do one on Speyside drams. I know Trenton isn’t partial to the scotch but I’m sure many of us would love to see it. Cheers fellas
Thanks James! Contemplating the next blind competition between my 12 yr scotch collection. No heavily peated bottles included. Would this interest you?
Absolutely Kurt, those who enjoy Speyside whiskies aren’t, I believe, interested in the peat or the smoke but do enjoy the real taste of a real Speyside. If you were to do a blind tasting I’m sure there would be many us out there that would welcome your views and opinions on what you like and the comments that come in would lead others to trying and potentially sampling some Speyside whiskies that maybe they’d never thought of tasting. As a newcomer to American whisky thanks to your channel I would like to hear what many think of not only Speyside but other Scotch areas that you like and enjoy. You may even twist Trentons arm to have a go at sampling some.
Great show! (somewhat) surprising result for the winner. Great finally seeing the Man, the Myth, the (Bourbon) Legend - Trenton! Thanks for taking the Old Fitzgerald out of the equation and making the rest of the tasting more of an even playing field. Plus, while I can probably find the rest of the bourbons in the tasting (with varying degrees of success), I probably will never be able to try the Old Fitzgerald, but will take your word on how good it is. I was able to get a pour of the E.H. Taylor at a local bar recently and really liked it. The others I have at home, and agree they are all fantastic bourbons, and I'd have a really hard time picking a favorite. I plan on doing a blind tasting with some buddies to see what the differences are. Thanks for a very fun and educational tasting series! Your channel rocks!
Enjoy the show guys. A suggestion on the blind tasting shows: once you’ve shown what A B C D are…keep it up as a key. Maybe a small box in the corner somewhere. Later in the show I forget what A B C D are, so this way the viewer always knows as you discuss.
Great series! I currently have in my collection ET, WT, EHT. A like them all but I am so glad to see ET win. I need to try OGD and would love to get a bottle of OFG but that one is a major unicorn at least in Texas.
Great series. You guys are going to make Early Times the next unicorn! I'm going to grab one while the getting's good! 😉 Loved having Trenton on camera with you. Question: When you guys do these blinds, does it make you start reaching for the winners more frequently when you choose a pour? I know that happens for me. A great way to rediscover some forgotten favorites.
This was the BEST format I’ve seen on any Whiskey TH-cam channel. You guys keep raising the bar. I’m gonna be depressed as crap if you guys take an extended vacation from the channel🤣. Now for the upsetting news, I CAN’T find Early Times BB anywhere 😢😢🤣🤣.
Fun video per usual. That's it! At 19 bucks for a liter, and you guys keep picking Early Times BIB, I guess I better pick it up. Even if it isn't the same bottle, it should still be Brown Forman product for another year or two (who knows if the Sazerac/Barton juice on the same recipe will be as good or better). If I like it as much as you guys, then it's gonna be a bit hard not to set aside a few bottles in case the future Barton/Sazerac product doesn't measure up. I'm very interested in comparing it against Old Grandad BIB. I can see a flight fight between Old Grandad BIB, Early Times BIB, WT 101, and Elijah Craig for best budget bourbon. Anyway, keep up the good work.
Trent, Please continue to appear on camera. Love the dynamic between the two of you. I follow several very highly ranked (youtube) bourbon review channels and what you do is the most relatable by far. Love you guys keep it up!!
Great Series!!! Battle of the Bonds!! ET for the win. Not surprised at all. It is so well rounded with QUINTESSENTIAL bourbon notes. Crushable indeed!!!
@@slbdrinks Here's the deal: In 2020, Sazerac purchased the Early Times label from Brown Forman. Sazerac also got existing ET inventory, meaning distillate in the barrel. There was, at that time, still a lot of BF bottled Early Times on the shelf and it took awhile to work through that stock. Sometime last year, the Sazerac bottled version of ET began appearing on the shelves. It is important to know that this is still the Brown Forman make that was acquired by Sazerac, but now blended and bottled by Sazerac. It is definitely different than the original BF bottled version. Whether the Sazerac bottled version is better or worse than the original BF version is, of course, a mater of personal taste. Sazerac has announced that as of 2021, Early Times is being produced at the Barton 1792 distillery. That means that the ET that is actually distilled by Sazerac at Barton won't show up on the shelves until at least 2025. It remains to be seen whether Sazerac can maintain the flavor profile of ET BIB with their own distillate.
@@mattspangler6386 Thanks Matt, that makes sense now, but it's still kinda weird. And sounds like it's going to get even more interesting in a few years!
According to Buffalo Trace consumer affairs Guru Alan Tenniswood, (literally the guy that answers the phone when you call the Number on the side of the bottle) The bourbons being bottled as Early Times Bottled in bond is still from leftover barrels from the initial brand purchase. The new version started being produced at Barton in early spring of 2021
Appreciate the knowledge! I am going to be seeing a young fella soon who works at Barton. He did say they produce ET but I will see if I can get the nitty gritty on the subject.
Hey,I’m new to buying bourbon, love the knowledge your sharing , my question is do you buy any on line and if so can you get what is ordered and the prices good ?
This was a great series to see how all the different ones played out. Its really an eye opener that the less expensive ones beat out a number of higher priced ones.
I got worried that I wouldn't like the Early Times since they switched over, but I think I'll buy a bottle soon. I'm on my 4th bottle of the older one now, and may save some to compare.
Interesting. I only had Old Fitz once, but I was really non-plussed with it. Now granted, it was among some heady company that night with all the other amazing things I was drinking, so I guess it warrants a revisit.
Awesome to see Trenton on screen. So I have been following for awhile. My question is what does “SLB” stand for? It does not seem to be your initials Kurt (sorry if that is the wrong spelling). Does not apply to your state or city either. Anyway, love this BIB series. Out in CA and appreciate your reviews.
Well done gentlemen!!! This was such a fun and informative series to watch. BiB bourbons are so great in the summer when it’s hot and you don’t want a higher proof ALL the time. Love your chemistry!
Well done gents! Early Times is a high value bottle and bond 🏷 bourbon. Now, to blind test all 3 versions of that juice! Believe it or not there are three different bottles in the last 2 years.
****Trenton is right about you having a bottle of the OLD Early Times! I just watched a video from 2 years ago that you had the old bottle! Its called "How to make the BEST whiskey sour".****
Just because saz bought the distribution rights to early times in 2021 does not mean that the whiskey inside the bottles are any different today. Saz is not a producer. The producer in charge of making new early times is Barton. But the barrels are just now being filled so we won't get Barton early times until almost 4 years from now let alone the fact that there are still going to be brown Forman reserve barrels until they completely run out. The only change is where it is being bottled. Which yes that can change the taste slightly but not noticeably.
It’s so funny to see how nervous Trenton used to be…he’s right at home cracking all the weird tasting notes nowadays! 😂
Love you guys!

Have fun doing your blinds!
Enjoy the show guys. A suggestion on the blind tasting shows: once you’ve shown what A B C D are…keep it up as a key. Maybe a small box in the corner somewhere. Later in the show I forget what A B C D are, so this way the viewer always knows as you discuss.
Thank you!
Great series! I currently have in my collection ET, WT, EHT. A like them all but I am so glad to see ET win. I need to try OGD and would love to get a bottle of OFG but that one is a major unicorn at least in Texas.
Boy that’s crazy! Hope you find it soon!
It did it! It came from the depths of second place and took down the big dogs! Great job guys!
Yes, actually it does. For me, I have always reached for ET but after this series my ogd bib will def be getting some love!
We can hook you up! I see it in Valparaiso area now and than. Hit me up on the Patreon mail and we can work it out!
Great idea! Different animals but all very good!
That was a great series of videos, you should definitely do more series like that
Great video guys thanks !
Trent, Please continue to appear on camera. Love the dynamic between the two of you. I follow several very highly ranked (youtube) bourbon review channels and what you do is the most relatable by far. Love you guys keep it up!!
Appreciate the compliment! We truly always want to be just “one of the guys” discussing whiskey.
Great Series!!! Battle of the Bonds!! ET for the win. Not surprised at all. It is so well rounded with QUINTESSENTIAL bourbon notes. Crushable indeed!!!
Ya baby!!
This was fun. Enjoyed watching you two.
I'm still confused as to how BOTH Sazerac AND Brown-Foreman can label a product as Early Times.
Ya that’s completely out of control from all the comments on this subject.
Fantastic knowledge! So many opinions and ideas concerning this subject.
SO FUN….. THANK YOU SO MUCH… ENJOY WATCHING EVERY EPISODE...
That was a fun ride, Thanks guys
Good call on the old Fitz. Wouldn't have been a fair comparison. Early times BIB , still hasn't made it to my area in Illinois.😭🥃
Hope it shows up soon!
I really enjoyed this! Nicely done!!
Thanks to you all..just love watching you guys enjoying your bourbons..from Trev in the uk
Thank you for joining us!
Great series. I’ll go buy your top 2 picks.
Hope you love them!
I got worried that I wouldn't like the Early Times since they switched over, but I think I'll buy a bottle soon. I'm on my 4th bottle of the older one now, and may save some to compare.
Give it a try. Worth the effort imo.
Interesting. I only had Old Fitz once, but I was really non-plussed with it. Now granted, it was among some heady company that night with all the other amazing things I was drinking, so I guess it warrants a revisit.
Most definitely! In this particular series it was the only upper crust bourbon. In mixed company with similar bottles that might change.
Love the bou4bon blinds
Awesome to see Trenton on screen. So I have been following for awhile. My question is what does “SLB” stand for? It does not seem to be your initials Kurt (sorry if that is the wrong spelling). Does not apply to your state or city either. Anyway, love this BIB series. Out in CA and appreciate your reviews.
SLB is an ode to my mother and stands for strong like bull. If you watch our bar tour video from a while back I go into more detail on the name there.
Love the videos! You do the best reviews, never steer me wrong!
Thank you!
A very entertaining blind off, thanks. And no more hiding Trenton. Next category…best finished in flavored barrel.
Another great idea!
Well done gentlemen!!! This was such a fun and informative series to watch. BiB bourbons are so great in the summer when it’s hot and you don’t want a higher proof ALL the time. Love your chemistry!
Thank you!
Well done gents!
Early Times is a high value bottle and bond 🏷 bourbon.
Now, to blind test all 3 versions of that juice! Believe it or not there are three different bottles in the last 2 years.
That’s crazy! That would be a wild blind!
I have all 4 and they are great! Love the BIB series
Enjoyed the bake off! Great to finally see Trent! Idea: How about doing a blind competition of just MGP products?
Hey nice idea!
Picked up Old Grand Dad BiB today…great pour!
This series was interesting in showing how a palate can change from day to day. The Early Times lost to E H Taylor in the first round.
Exactly! With similar very good bourbons the lineup can change every day!
If you recall, it was so very close though. They could have gone either way on that one.
EHT Single Barrell >>> Small Batch. Great video! Nice to have both of you on camera for a competition like this.
****Trenton is right about you having a bottle of the OLD Early Times! I just watched a video from 2 years ago that you had the old bottle! Its called "How to make the BEST whiskey sour".****

Here is the link to your video with the Brown-Forman bottle!
Isn’t that crazy??! I honestly would have never thought i had that bottle but you my friend are absolutely correct!
Great competition as usual. Your picks are generally to my tastes as well. Always fun.
Love it. I picked up Early Times as I showed up to an ABC allocation late and it was still available. I feel like it was a win! Good stuff
Congrats! Enjoy!
Great series!!!
Awesome series guys
4:11 thought this was a family show
Just because saz bought the distribution rights to early times in 2021 does not mean that the whiskey inside the bottles are any different today.
Both on camera adds something IMO - it’s different watching expressions vs just hearing.
Holy cow! Welcome Trenton. Wish Early Times BIB was sold around my house!!
I wish so as well!
