Definitely enjoy your content. I have tried the OGD and enjoy it, I have not been able to find a bottle of Early Times yet. I look forward to blinding them myself. It would be nice to see a budget bottled in bond flight fight between OGD, Early Times, Old Tub, and Evan Williams.
I really like both of these, but the Early Times BIB is hard to find in my area, so I end up with OGD more often. I'll agree Early Times has a richer mouth feel.
It would be interesting to see this with the new Early Times as well since I can't find the black top Early Times
Classic basic easy to find blind. I LOVE IT! Sticking with a low budget and readily available bourbons, this is my kind of tasting. Thanks for doing it, I'd love to see more. The key for me is blind and similar proof. Cheers.
Can we not use the black cap ET anymore? They are all almost gone from shelves and there is a significant difference between them and the blue tops. My particular blue top smells like band-aids, and unfortunately the pallet matches the nose.

My particular blue top smells like heaven, and strangely similar to the black tops, which I find highly suspect, given that they're the exact same juice. 🤔🧐
@@FakingANervewhen Early Times switched from Brown Forman to Sazerac they moved it to a different blending and bottling factory. Most prefer the older version, but taste buds and after effects vary. For example, I prefer 100 proof Old Grand-Dad instead of Knob Creek 9 year, even though it is the opposite for many and the Old Grand-Dad costs less here.
If there’s that big of difference, then it’s your bottle or in your head. Has anyone else tasted what you’ve tasted from that same bottle? I’ve had at least 5 bottles of each top and there’s just a slight difference between batches.
It's the same stuff. It's bottled in bond. The sale of the brand is not old enough yet to be any difference. By definition it is the same distillery.
I've never seen Early Times BiB here, but I really like OGD bonded. I won't always have it on hand - for various reasons I can't keep everything I want to all the time - and in fact I don't have any now, but I absolutely will buy Old Grand-Dad bonded again. Right now, though, I'm sad at seeing how little of my OGD 114 is left.
This one’s ez for me. OGD. I’m excited to finally see the OGD 114 back on the shelves in KC. But it jumped to $30 vs previous $23. Maybe it will drop soon. Until then OGB BIB.
Finally got around to trying OGD Bonded. Really enjoy the whiskey and I'm using it for my Eggnog. However, the one time I've had early times it was so good. Really wish it was in Maryland.
I dont always drink whiskey, but when i do i absouloutley refuse to budget myself into that corner.
I did 2 tastings of old grand dad before relegating it to cooking. Works great in a tomato sauce with some balsamic vinegar. Or if your looking to Dr. Up a bean with bacon soup. Shoot i bet even in some bushs baked beans.
Thanks for reviewing these available whiskeys.
I have both of these on my shelf, but currently on bottle number four of ET, still on the first bottle of OGD. ET is definitely more my jam, not that OGD is bad or anything.
Chad also, thank you for the comments about the juice going into the ET bottle. Seems I have seen more than a few videos comparing the old vs the new saying how there is definitely a taste difference since Sazerac bought them. 😮
I feel that it's somewhat of an odd comparison because the mash bills are completely different. The hints of ginger & mint are very obvious when tasting the OGD due to the high rye content. Very different flavor profiles.
I got some ET BiB for 15.99 last week. Killer deal.
I came across a bottle of the Early Times Bottled in Bond and I very much enjoy it and the price is excellent!
Not at all surprised at your result. ET BiB is my go to sub $25 bottle. It's really a $17 bottle for 750 ml! I generally use it as a mixer but it's no hardship to drink it neat. For OGD I usually skip right over the BiB and get the 114. Now you are talking legit budget sipper.
Thank you both as always for the review 🥃
I am addicted to my WR Double Oaked. But a Rare Breed Barrel Proof is on deck.
As they say go big or go home. Though I’m not a metric kinda guy for the extra you get for a liter it just makes sense to go with it for the money. Just saying!! Enjoy!!
I love this series. Cheers 🥃
I like them both. You know my motto:" Nice for the price"
Maybe I need to try Early Times again. I can't get it in my area so last year when I was in Kentucky I was excited to finally try it. It was decent, but I found it way too sweet. I really don't understand the hype with this bottle.
I’m a That guy!! OGD! 🥃
Love both of them. 🥃
Love both!!
Great episode y’all. It’s just sad that Sazerac is still playing the allocated marketing game with their budget bourbon just like diageo. Thankfully OGD 114 is available and just 20🦌🦌 here in Wisconsin.
You can't find Early Times BB around here. I've been wanting to try it.
OGD for me. Can NEVER find ET BIB here in Indiana
ET BIB in Illinois now retails for 27.99 plus tax
I’m a fan of Early Times, but I get a malty note that’s not great sometimes. It’s probably just me. Love you guys.
I pick old grand dad, every time over early times..
ET BIB so delicious my everyday sipper $25.99 here in Va.
What part of VA are you in? I saw it for the first time in 5 years up here in a VA ABC store just a couple of weeks ago, and it was gone, ne'er to be seen again since. VA ABC isn't hip to stock ET BiB, from my experience... gotta travel.
I bought a lot of cheaper bourbons thinking of what would be a good everyday drinker and now I have soo much bourbon that it’s all everyday drinker, and I’m going to need a bigger bar…🤔
the 1L bottle of Old Grand-Dad BiB was only $1 more near me.
Caution: Here is your obligatory "why would I get OGD100 when OGD114 is nearly the same price". ET is good, been sitting on a second bottle of the "black cap" but it's mostly hard to find. Edit: Chad made my point after my comment. ;-(
The Brown Forman is just a bit better to me ! I have two of them left and that’s the time to switch
No Early Times in PA, so OGD BIB is my goto $25 bottle
I wish anywhere near me has had either in the last year+
From now on I will be using nose flavor exclusively in place of the word scent.
ET BiB was on the shelf in every store with a license around me until Saz bought the label and now its as rare as some allocated stuff. Saz distribution is still atrocious and more or less ruined the ability for me to recommend the bottle to anyone looking to get into whiskey in my area.
Ok sooooo do this again with the blue top
Me personally, I'll take even the new ET BiB over that peanut bomb any time
OGD ist lecker 😋

You guys still have a black top? Haven't seen one of those in a year or so.
There’s just something about the ET that just isn’t my cup of tea. Maybe cause it’s a blue top, but the GD is certainly solid.
Old gran dad bb hands down
I'm going to have to vote neither. I've watched so many videos a year into my bourbon journey and done so many blinds. I even put these two in a around 100p blind and let me tell you...WT 101 wins almost every blind it's in. I want to venture out and like others, but it's just so dang good, ESPECIALLY at it's price point. I feel like I could GUARENTEE a win if it was blinded with these two.
I think you either said it incorrectly or you used the wrong ET BiB. Maybe I misheard you. Great vid though!
The new Early Times bottled and bond is just bitter.
Mmm, nose candy aka booger sugar
Whybdidvyou called me old Chad 😢
