Sagamore is just knocking it out of the park lately with their finished ryes. The Sherry, Port and Rum cask finishes were fanfreakingtastic

I'm unable to stop staring at how perfectly the level of the Remus on the wall lines up the the bottom of the shelf to its left. That is OCD perfection.

For a non-finished Sagamore, go with the 8 Year Reserve Series. Cask strength 8 year rye for $75 is hard to beat.
I really like Dans list. Even though all but one is finished, the finishing can add such complexity of flavors to the whisky that is just an experience. Also like how he threw in a few cheaper options like Top Floor. That’s my go to crushable whisky.
Been searching for the Chatt Cab Finish for weeks and finally got my hands on it today. So stoked to grab it and it fully held up. Was absolutely floored by it. Big fan!
Had the Bardstown orgin bourbons last September when I did a tour. Really enjoyed all 3, but the high rye was my favorite. Tried them all straight from the barrel at about 126 proof, and they were great.
I couldn’t agree more with the RC Double Barrel. My local store was selling their pick for only $45 so I bought a few. Just crazy good.
Gotta go with Sean here. I love the starlight finishes, especially the VDN and Cigar batches. Also, gotta love Chattanooga whiskey. A brand that ive been obsessed with recently is New Riff, there stuff is awesome.

The Woodenville Port Finished Rye is also a MWND comparator and at about 40% of the cost. Great bottle just impossible to find outside of WA.

I've been enjoying Legent lately. The neck pour is a little grainy and young, but after it gets some air into it; solid.

I was at sagamore this weekend and the port was 100. I did like it but I only gonna buy 1 bottle and I liked the sherry finish better, so went with that one. But I do recommend checking out sagamore if you’re in the area.
Just picked up the both Bardstown Origin series. Both are great, wheated is greater.

So the double barrel on the fort Hamilton I believe is a bit of a misnomer. It is the blending of 2 different barrels not rebarreled. I sampled some of their rye distillate sent to me by the owner for a barrel pick and it is pretty good.
Stumbled across that Bardstown for under 50. I had to read it 2x, 6 yr old of their own stuff...and it's great.
@Dan you pronounced Boordy Vinyards right (board-ie). I drive by Boordy on my way to work each day. A lot of folks (wine snobs) don't like Boordy cause their wines are particularly very sweet and are often compared to basically being Welch's grape fruit juice. That being said, I can 100% see how that would lead to being solid barrels for finishing whiskey.

Dan the Sagamore port 2022 release is amazing I love it. It’s alot better then batch 10 of MWND. That being said I think it’s basically distillery only this year not nearly as wide as the sherry finish which is also fire
I am in Texas and appreciate fine whiskey from all over - but especially Kentucky - and love Rebecca Creek (with the exception of their BiB which I think is overpriced at $50 for what it is). The Double Barrel Spanish Oak from Rebecca Creek is so good, I'm on my 3rd bottle! Absolutely delicious desert whiskey worth every penny!
I have the sherry sagamore, it's fantastic. Very rich, like chocolate raspberry cake.
Just tried a 7 year Sagamore barrell pick, and hot damn! It’s hard to imagine beating that one, except maybe a finished one

Recently went to Fort Hamilton and did a tasting. Their cask strength rye was really good. If you can get your hands on that, I think you’d like it.
The pick I bought is a cask strength rye its great!
Starlight has phenomenal liqueurs and flavored whiskey, black raspberry and blackberry. Like eating fresh off the bush.
Some times Mejier will have Origin in stock. I've been meaning to get it one of these days.
Dewars rereleased their 12 yr now aged in ex-first fill bourbon barrels.
Still Austin is pretty decent.
Also, Buchanan's Pineapple. Gotta pronounce it as Boo-chan-ez.
Sagamore Rye Sherry Finished is also a hitter
I was 9-1/2 lbs when I was born and I was a month early. Spent a month in the preemie ward with all the 2lb babies. Nurses called me The Hulk.

Green spot is a pretty amazing Irish whiskey. If you haven't had that I HIGHLY recommend 👌

I think High & Wicked is sourced from New Riff (undisclosed sources). If that is truly is the case you are better off getting a barrel pick of their rye. or the 100% malted rye. amazing juice.

Fort Hamilton is an army base in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn NY. Walking distance from where I used to live.
The Bardstown Origins Rye is fantastic. Once it finally goes retail, you gotta try it. The BiB is super good too
I was able to get a bottle of Rare Character Kentucky Rye that is BBC first run at 95/5... it is absolutely incredible. When their own rye distillate reaches 6 years the single barrel program will be loaded
Fort Hamilton rye is delicious. If you can find a higher proof store pick 👏👍
Great video. The 3 most recent bottles I've bought are Starlight, Sagamore, and Bardstown. All hitters. I look forward to trying some of your other recommendations.

I think this was a great video and will be on the look out for bottles from both so I'd day Dan wins because he had an honorable mention meaning more whiskeys on his list.
I have to give the win to Sean just because he put Starlight in there since Im the ultimate fanboy. But the best bottle in the video might be that Sagamore, they are killing everything they put out! So a very close 2nd to Dan. Overall, a great list and some bottles that everyone needs to have on their shelves!

@@davidvoth7218 any of their family reserve bottles that they put out on Repeal Day are always exceptional. As far as more easily found bottles, Honey finished rye, Rum finished rye, Double oaked bourbon and rye, and probably Pineau de Charentes finished rye would be my top 5 that I currently have.
Haven't tried the port yet, but I've compared the Starlight Sherry Finish and Sagamore Sherry Finish side by side and the Starlight took the win for me.
Live right next to Rebecca Creek in the state that Sean had a hard time pronouncing. Will say that one is dang good. Definitely their best release I've had.
Sean, been on the fence about the Cab Chatt. I love their Single Barrels and haven’t loved many wine finished bourbons. I am now going to be 60 smackers poorer. Thanks! #TEAMDAN😂

Starlight is amazing. I've had their port finish and its excellent. My favorite is their Cigar Batch. Check it out!
Rebecca Creek is a good mixer or neat in a pinch. They model their flavor profile on Crown.
Since you guys mentioned Justin’s you should talk about the ATF raid that happened there a few weeks ago.
I found that Dragon's Milk to be pretty good!
2 days ago i had a blind from a friend of benchmark single barrel, benchmark full proof and buffalo trace. Benchmark full proof won by a mile, then the single barrel and buffalo trace took last. Also sean had a better lineup somehow.
This is how we know I (Dan) won... Because you agree with Sean hahahaha

I was shocked how much I enjoyed new Holland origins
And Bardstown white label is fucking fantastic for the price and availability.. beats out every other 40ish bottle whiskey that’s not rare breed.. maybe put it above four roses single barrel which is hard for me to say out loud
Sean's list was better overall, but Dan finished strong with the Sagamore (tie for first between Sagamore and Bardstown)
Sean recommend that Chatty Cabernet finish. That’s enough to completely discount his opinion. Just awful! 🤢🤮

I think you misquoted the price on this year's sagamore port finish. It's $100 at the distillery. That said, you're completely right, better than Midwinters Act 10, at least to me. Great list!

Sagamore sherry finish was better than the port finish imho but both were/are 🔥
