The steez is literally just a 2016 steez with different paint and the sv " boost" spool. ( which just has an extra spring on it). The only thing " limited" about it is the changes that daiwa made. So its still a nice reel in its own right, but just be aware of the dodgy marketing regarding It's new features that are written on the box, particularly if you're thinkng of "upgrading" 😂from the old one.

For me personally, I absolutely feel a difference in casting with this Steez over the older Steez, so I've seen and felt the improvements. Nothing at this point is going to be drastic. I don't care if they put a tiny drop of paint on it to make it different - if it changes the performance of the reel - I'm in!
I dont know how people really lose their mind and buy into new product hype expessially overpriced brands. Yea i love my expensive rods and reels but company's charge a arm and leg for a "new" model that's the same as the last until a new series of rod and reels come out expessially megabass. Every company does it. I've fished both of steez older and newer model. It feels the exact same. Even seen a short video of someone taking apart both of them and they are almost 100% identical internally all the way down to set screws.
I just picked up a zillion sv tw, can't wait to throw it but the water is still a little hard up here in Canada. I found something interesting, I just popped open my 15 year old Daiwa advantage (first baitcaster I bought) to compare the braking system. My old Daiwa that still runs great, has the same type of braking system. Much more refined now but same exact function. Daiwa for life!

If we didn't have a great people like tackle advisors who know what they're looking for and can completely disassemble a real without a second thought companies would continue to pull this kind of stuff. We as fisherman need to hold companies accountable for things like this.
I have seen the video. It's a great breakdown. My thoughts on findings like that are that it's important to actually use the product and see if it performs as advertised, which these reels do. That's why this video was important to give the specs from Daiwa, and then actually use the reels to see if it was an improvement in actual performance. For me personally, the new limited version casts better than the older version, and feels more comfortable - just as advertised. But again, I just got them in. This is a first look impression video, so over time it might be way better, or it might not. Is it worth the extra money? At this point for me it is. It won't be for everyone of course.

I understand that obviously you said in the video that you haven't fished with them extensively and you were going over the manufacturer's specs and what they have presented. Tackle advisors did do a great breakdown and I think it did show people a more in-depth internal view of what they were shipping. I think people were over caught in the hype of this real. Despite the fact that it's definitely a great real and it probably is incredibly smooth I think people were expecting something groundbreaking we're in reality it is more of a moderate upgrade with a cool paint job. Definitely don't think you were selling out or anything. Keep up the great work. Responding to comments like these is exactly what makes you and your shop better than many of the other options.
It would be cool to see your comparison of the steez vs zillion. I imagine the zillion would perform as well as the steez, sure the steez has nice looks but we are fishing and performance is paramount. Great video as always and thanks for supplying us jdm fiends in America.
The steez limited is excellent. Cast farther than the original steez sv tw, but it is the same internal wise/ form wise as the steez sv tw, had both cracked apart on the bench. Only picked it up because I like shiny things haha. Haven't dropped the boost spool in the original SV TW to see if there's any performance difference, or if the new Limited has modded magnets. Zillions are killer as well
All I want is sum clickers on the spool tension, drag star & spool drag. It's a preference thing for me, it makes it easier to make proportional adjustments. I know I can't be alone on this. Any discount on those demo reels?
You are not alone... not having clickers on the spool adjustment is the reason I haven't bought a slx dc yet.. Hell an 80 dollar abu garcia has them everywhere and has more bearings then a slx..

He didn't fish the reels nor did he check the materials or measured mechanical tolerances of each part which are also the factors to performance alongside the design. Basically, his review was based on visual references. I just bought these reels, used them and can confirm that I 100% back up HookUpTackles review. Many renowned Japanese 3rd party tackle reviewers also confirmed these improvements before this review after reviewing the ACTUAL REELS themselves too. *Casting improvement is quite noticeable for lures of 1/2oz or heavier.

Can you help me understand if their is any real difference between this steeze and the 2016 version. for example the spool on this new reel can just be put in a 2016 steeze and wouldn't that be pretty much be the same thing? since he is claiming hyperdrive and the other features on the box that are "New" other then the spool are just new marketing terms for the same things in the 2016 version. You need to get your information more correct! I understand that you read the advertisemt But When you call out That the Alphas had the air break which it doesn’t I am not even sure if you read the pre written information by Daiwa correctly but do a bit of pre-checking before making the videos! I onestly think yours is a great shop and i follow your videos even if i am from Italy. I think this steez sv tw limited is not worth.It is a crazy good reel i think..don’t misunderstand me.. but I think the original model is already a beast, this can be a little better in casting with sv boost.. but i don’t see the hype in this limited version.. from the painting to the very very little changes. I prefer new Zillion for the value. That said in my opinion these sv daiwas are absolute impressing in easy casting and skipping and i prefere them to shimanos . For example new Morethan sv tw with that 100mm handle, maybe with a 1012 sv spool or a Zpi Nrc spool is just a crazy casting beast .. i don’t find any other reel of mine at that level onestly
I agree the Zillion is going to be a hit for the money! This Steez is a big jump in price, so it’s not going to be worth it for a lot of anglers, but many anglers, like myself, who want to squeeze every once they can out of the performance, this is exciting 👍

Happy to. "Hyperdrive" is really Daiwa's new marketing term for a reel that has the 4 levels qualification - All metal housing (Metanium in this case), hyper tough clutch, double bearing supported pinion gear, and the new Digigear. Now, Steez already had most of these things, but the gearing is different although very subtle. The new gearing is smoother and reduces reel noise substantially. If you want to see the science behind it a quick look at Daiwa's website can give you more insight on it. I can tell you that it is very smooth when you fish it - totally quiet as advertised. The other thing to pay attention to is SV Boost. SV Boost is the newest generation of spool and Magnetic braking working together to achieve longer casts while still giving you optimal cast control. This is achieved by a new Magnet that creates an electrical current that flows counter to the direction the spool rotates for smoother performance, and the rotor on the spool operates in 2 stages now instead of 1 by extending out at the initial burst of the cast and then retreats towards the end of the cast for extra distance. Now, that information on how it works and what it is, was given to me by Daiwa and I'm just sharing it with you. What I can tell you from my own personal experience and how I test reels (by actually using them), is it casts and performs exactly as they said it would, and it is a noticeable improvement from the previous model. So, up to you what to do with all the information provided. I'm not sure how drastically different everyone expected everything to be in this reel, as Steez is already so good and refined. This reel is subtle improvements that make a difference in performance. Is it worth $200 extra? For me yes - but I want the best performing gear. For many it will be easy to say their older Steez are good enough. That's up to you to decide 👍.
Yeah I stay away from JDM fishing gear. The stuff is typically over priced and when something going wrong with it, there is little to no support. Its just not worth it.
The main problem with Daiwa is they're overpriced outside from Japan , for ex-sample Antares DC: DC tecnologie, Daiwa Steez Limited SV nothing like that and the Magseal Bearings they're not rust proof, the bearings from my Cerate are grinding like heel and i only use this Reel in freshwater!

I'm a huge fan of Steez A, but have never liked the Steez SV TW. I love this new Steez, so for me I'm biting the bullet. I like the frame and the casting much better than the older Steez. But that's just personal preference.
You can still get RCS knobs and SLP Works knobs in that style. Yeah I know it's more money, but I like both and I use both. I picked up silver RCS knobs for my Alphas SV TW and man does it fish nice and look super sexy!

If you take and aluminum drum and spin it around magnets it creates an electrical current, That's called Lenz Law (very basic physics: Lenz's law, named after the physicist Emil Lenz .) who formulated it in 1834, says that the direction of the electric current induced in a conductor by a changing magnetic field is such that the magnetic field created by the induced current opposes changes in the initial magnetic field. I think this steez sv tw limited is not worth.It is a crazy good reel i think..don’t misunderstand me.. but I think the original model is already a beast, this can be a little better in casting with sv boost.. but i don’t see the hype in this limited version.. from the painting to the very very little changes. I prefer new Zillion for the value. That said in my opinion these sv daiwas are absolute impressing in easy casting and skipping and i prefere them to shimanos . For example new Morethan sv tw with that 100mm handle, maybe with a 1012 sv spool or a Zpi Nrc spool is just a crazy casting beast .. i don’t find any other reel of mine at that level onestly
I agree the Zillion is going to be a hit for the money! This Steez is a big jump in price, so it’s not going to be worth it for a lot of anglers, but many anglers, like myself, who want to squeeze every once they can out of the performance, this is exciting 👍

I give them credit that they fished it but the reporting on gearing, new tech etc. isn’t responsible if it has already been completely disproven soundly and nothing in this video is to the contrary of that so... 🤷🏼♂️.. not a good look from where I sit. Happy to. "Hyperdrive" is really Daiwa's new marketing term for a reel that has the 4 levels qualification - All metal housing (Metanium in this case), hyper tough clutch, double bearing supported pinion gear, and the new Digigear. Now, Steez already had most of these things, but the gearing is different although very subtle. The new gearing is smoother and reduces reel noise substantially. If you want to see the science behind it a quick look at Daiwa's website can give you more insight on it. I can tell you that it is very smooth when you fish it - totally quiet as advertised. The other thing to pay attention to is SV Boost. SV Boost is the newest generation of spool and Magnetic braking working together to achieve longer casts while still giving you optimal cast control. This is achieved by a new Magnet that creates an electrical current that flows counter to the direction the spool rotates for smoother performance, and the rotor on the spool operates in 2 stages now instead of 1 by extending out at the initial burst of the cast and then retreats towards the end of the cast for extra distance. Now, that information on how it works and what it is, was given to me by Daiwa and I'm just sharing it with you. What I can tell you from my own personal experience and how I test reels (by actually using them), is it casts and performs exactly as they said it would, and it is a noticeable improvement from the previous model. So, up to you what to do with all the information provided. I'm not sure how drastically different everyone expected everything to be in this reel, as Steez is already so good and refined. This reel is subtle improvements that make a difference in performance. Is it worth $200 extra? For me yes - but I want the best performing gear. For many it will be easy to say their older Steez are good enough. That's up to you to decide 👍.
Yeah I stay away from JDM fishing gear. The stuff is typically over priced and when something going wrong with it, there is little to no support. Its just not worth it.
The main problem with Daiwa is they're overpriced outside from Japan , for ex-sample Antares DC: DC tecnologie, Daiwa Steez Limited SV nothing like that and the Magseal Bearings they're not rust proof, the bearings from my Cerate are grinding like heel and i only use this Reel in freshwater!

@@JoseMartinez-dq4km that's tough. If you're already used to Steez, I don't think Zillion will fulfill you. But It's a beautiful reel too! I'm a huge fan of Steez A, but have never liked the Steez SV TW. I love this new Steez, so for me I'm biting the bullet. I like the frame and the casting much better than the older Steez. But that's just personal preference.

Man, I wish Daiwa would bring back the handle knobs they had a few years ago. They were a little fatter and just more comfy IMO.
You can still get RCS knobs and SLP Works knobs in that style. Yeah I know it's more money, but I like both and I use both. I picked up silver RCS knobs for my Alphas SV TW and man does it fish nice and look super sexy!

Wow! I don't want to be a troll, but for a person who sells reals for a living, do you even know what you are talking about? If you take and aluminum drum and spin it around magnets it creates an electrical current, That's called Lenz Law (very basic physics: Lenz's law, named after the physicist Emil Lenz .) who formulated it in 1834, says that the direction of the electric current induced in a conductor by a changing magnetic field is such that the magnetic field created by the induced current opposes changes in the initial magnetic field. Magnetic fields from strong magnets can create counter-rotating currents in a copper or aluminium pipe. This is shown by dropping the magnet through the pipe. The descent of the magnet inside the pipe is observably slower than when dropped outside the pipe.
When a voltage is generated by a change in magnetic flux according to Faraday's law, the polarity of the induced voltage is such that it produces a current whose magnetic field opposes the change which produces it. The induced magnetic field inside any loop of wire always acts to keep the magnetic flux in the loop constant.
