Was on this exact plane in January 2023, I was the first one on board (because I was an UMNR) and I was placed at the back of the plane. I got moved to first class because there was alot of empty space and I slept about 15 out of 18 hours it flew.
I remember the seat map shows the back of the 777-300ER showed 2-4-2 seats. My gold status gives me the preferred seats. But I'd consider sitting way back if I'm on the 777-300ER and I am not in a rush. Was there only one choice for lunch? Nice report.
Thanks Jeff! If I'm not mistaken, I believe the other meal option for lunch was pasta. I'm not too much of a fan of pasta so I always choose the other one, lol. You're fortunate to have gold status. It's nice to have that flexibility to choose Economy Plus on UA. I lost my gold status during the pandemic. Since I no longer have business trips, it's hard to rack up enough flights and dollars to get gold 🙁
How was the service in flight? I did this sector around 10 years ago on the UA 747, coming up in June this year on the UA 777. Were these leather seats comfy? Had a choice of Air NZ, QF, Fiji Airways but ended up choosing UA.. hopefully its good!!
The service was okay, typical UA. It can be hit or miss depending on the FA. A few weeks ago I had a FA on my Melbourne to SFO flight and she was outstanding. But other times, FA was just average. As for the leather seats, to be honest I don't really like them. It's fine for short haul but for the long distance, I don't find it all that comfortable. I usually bring a small pillow to help support my lower back. (I too flew the UA 747's back in the days and I found those seats more comfortable than the leather ones.) But the most crucial factor in comfort is finding that seat that you like. Meaning, chose that aisle seat or window seat, whatever you find comfortable. For me it's well worth spending that extra to get Economy Plus that is if the aircraft is full. Hope this helps.
I did that trip many years ago back when it was a B747-400. It was a great flight and made a nice change to come into SFO instead of LAX.
True, better San Fran than LAX
Very nice report thanks! A few years ago I had an aisle seat in the same row but on the other side - on an Emirates 777-300ER. Great seats!
Thank you!
Nice video my friend ✈️

Great video! How were the crew onboard your flight? :)
Thank you! The crew was okay, typical UA service, not that great but not that bad either.

Is your flight to San Francisco almost full and how many hours did you sleep on the plane?
The flight was very full as far as I can recall and I probably slept for 4-5 hours
Wow, okay I see.
was it busy?
Do you mean the flight was full or busy at Sydney airport? It was both full and busy at the airport.
