- What's going on everyone, Monkiedude22 here with another Xbox Tip, Trick or Tutorial video and in this video today, I'm going to show you some steps to fix the Installation Stopped error when using a disc to install a game on Xbox One.
I actually made a video about this back in 2016 and a follow up video which covered the issue, but since then new techniques and steps have been developed to fix the problem, so that's why I've taken the time to re-make this video in 2018 and I hope it helps you take care of the problem.

5 years later and this is still a problem. microsoft never fails at failing to fix this issue
Fast forward to 2022 & this video still helped me - namely to install ‘Alien Isolation’ using your final method of inserting disc then downloading digitally, which I did not know was even a thing… Thankyou so much for uploading 🙂👍🏻❤️
2023 and it still works for far cry 4.

Sadly that's just the way it is now with massive patches. Kind of why I went all digital, so that I can pre download weeks in advance. :/
@Michael Leto ive resolved my issue. All you have to do is replace the game. You won't be able to do it without the receipt

I know my disc was acting up cuz I had to pry it out of my old xbox 1.. but the last step actually worked for me

For those who wonder, after spending 2 days of researching I finally solved my problem. My installation stopped at 0% and I tried everything the guy said from going offline to install it from the store. Then I noticed that the installation won't start because I set up my external hard drive as default storage to install all my games, what you need to do is to select your internal hard drive as a default when installing new games or apps, if the internal hard drive is full try to move some games to your external hard drive (it won't affect your games) and then install the game on your internal hard drive. It works and the installation goes really fast. I just installed 25% of my game in just 3 min, highly recommended.

Wow, that last tip was actually useful in another way. I had no clue you could actually install a game from Xbox live and play with the disc. I figured you had to either A: just use the disc, or B: actually purchase the digital copy.

A USB for what? Downloading the game, as opposed to the hard drive/SSD?
This was the only single thing I hadn't tried or couldn't figure out how to do yet and seems to have been the only thing to have worked so far.

WOW! THANK YOU SO MUCH! I had played Halo 5 for a while, and stopped and my hard drive broke and we had to buy a new one, but the disk was slightly scratched and couldn’t install as it would start, not go up in percent and then stop. So I just never played it, but my friend asked to play Halo and I wanted to play Halo 5 again, so I watched all the way to the end with that other trick and it worked and I’m so happy that it worked so even though I don’t know you, thank you from the bottom of my heart! I’m so glad that worked and I’m so happy!

None of this worked. We never had these installment issues with 360 at all. Microsoft would do well to do a big recall of their consoles and make things easy like they did with 360.

Games can't fit on discs anymore and it helps gather data and save it more easily when it installs rather than just putting it in and playing.

Honestly the only reason I bought an xbox one was because ps4 was impossible to find at the time, and I was an impatient moron with my first jobs savings burning a hole in my pocket. After i played halo 5 and gears 4 i knew i made a mistake. Im also pissed they made us buy the shitty kinnect 2.0 with the console forcing the thing to cost 550 with tax, then they drop like all support for it. Useless brick.

I FIGURED IT OUT 100% I know the exact problem and all you have to do is change your DNS to cloud flare. The primary is 1.1.1.1 and secondary is 1.0.0.1. This solved the issue for both myself and my brother. My ark had been going on and off with installation stopped and it is currently downloading fine. Hope it works for you guys as well

So I have the master cheif collection and this glitch happened to me when I tried to reinstall it, but the problem is that it is only on disc. I tried doing the network thing but it didn’t work
Try using the Install Offline method first, then connecting to Xbox Live for the updates.

I cancelled the installation, disconnected from the network, removed the disk, restarted the xbox, put the disk back in and now it is installing!

Same here but with witcher 3 the game downloads about 30% and I can play but it won't finish downloading even in the store, it's weird because when I go to the store rite when I insert the disk it shows that that game is downloading rite where the buy option is but when I don't let it install it won't let me download it from the Xbox store

I have an older video I did about digital games, but yes a remake and update for that video is in the works. I expect to have it done by next week
Make sure to clean the game carefully as loading issues can also be due to reading errors, though it won't say it is a reading error. If it is happening to multiple games and none of these fixes work, your lens could be dirty. Use either compressed air from Walmart (in electronics) or if you are good enough, you can make a DIY tool with a micro fiber cloth attached to reach in and clean the lens but I do not recommend this as most people will just scratch the lens. You have to know what you are doing to do this right. There are also cleaning disks available which have a little brush attached to the underside of the disk, which clean the lens when the disk starts to spin. If you have cleared your local storage, cleared your bluray Persistent storage and have tried it offline without any luck, then try to clean the disk. Watch a tutorial on cleaning game disks also as it is easy to scratch them. Always clean from the inside towards the outside and use a microfiber cloth without any cleaner. Idk if this video suggests any of that as I fixed mine before watching this video. Good luck.

I think it's just the way the footage was captured, it's still the same shade of black on my TV. But I am in a new Alpha dashboard build which is in the video, so maybe it's a bit darker now than it was. I didn't change any themes or anything like that.

Thanks for this video. Couldn’t for the life of me get my game to install, which is brand new. Downloading the game from the store is what worked for me with the disc in the console.
Nothing worked. Everytime i stop installation and restart, it increases by about 4%. Gonna just have to do that until it gets to 100 and hope nothing is corrupted.

Does the console recognize the disc in the drive? If not, the disc may be damaged or the disc drive might need repairs if other discs are also not working.
Monkiedude22 well the disc drive is working cuz I also installed bo2 on disc so it could be the disc but the disc is pure clean
