    I have a 7.3 and absolutely love it. I have had it for 12 years now as I bought it in 2007 and it had 69k on the meter. I have 134k now and I have done some mods but I'll never get rid of it. It's the truck that gets us to the dunes hauling our toy hauler and the sound of it is just incredible. Neat channel bro keep it up!

    2000 Ford F250 XLT 7.3 diesel Rare package in great shape. Has desirable Zf6 six speed manual transmission and is 4wd w/ 3.73 gears. Supercab, longbed. Has power windows, power locks, cruise control, and A/C, just under 200k miles, Texas truck only been in PA from 2013 till now and rarely ran in winter. Edit (this is the ad i had it listed for sale so if anyone wants you can throw me an offer lol, been a great truck and i still love it but it just sits anymore and i use a 2015 ram 3500 dually just because of weight ratings, the 20 year old ford pulls great but tbh you cant compete with the new trucks payloads and ratings)

    I've only owned 1st gen Cummins so far but would love to add a Powerstroke in the future as I'm an enthusiast of diesel engines. Your videos are entertaining, and informative. Also realistic...any and I mean ANY used vehicle can be a wallet thrower and in the diesel world there is extra cost. It's worth it to me because most diesel engines can hit that 500K mile mark easily if well maintaned and very reliable once worn parts are replaced. Keep up the good work and enjoying that Pstroke!

    Quick improvements:
    Disconnect the waste gate. Wire it shut if you have to.
    Replace original relays for the PCM and ICM. When the points burn, there are RF created that cause the electronics to run poorly. I guess you could install a two piece ferrite choke to cancel high frequencies.

Found some issues along the way from previous owner mistreatment but ironed those out and she runs like a beast now after a new turbo with a billet 5+5 wheel and 1.0 exhaust housing with 4 in MBPR down pipe into 5 in exhaust with a 8 inch tip, new bellowed up pipes and replaced IPR, ICP, and cam position sensor along with the EBPC sensor. Was towing my 40’ toy hauler with a SRW zf6 early 99 but thought I needed more truck so I picked up a 2015 Ram dually and learned two things. 1. Cummins makes a great motor and 2. Had a 15 ram and a 15 Denali hd, prefer the Cummins truck, even though slower it tows better and had zero issues
      And I tow heavy too, been 27k on a scale with the old single wheel ram... it towed it like a champ across country and in the hills of NW Arkansas too, not flat ground
      Ran 76mph no problem as well, and would hold that speed on I49 approaching the tunnel from either direction, something the hotrod duramax won't do
      And that was with the dreaded 68rfe lol, I believe it's the best package for the money and will return slightly better reliability than the ford and gm offerings, I would put money on the cp4 singlehandedly pushing the statistics to agree with me...
      Ram and Cummins are smart enough not to use the cp4...

      Currently under a rebuild. I think I lost an injector cup at just over 368,000 miles. I had another vehicle to drive and thought this was a good time to rebuild this one. Block & Crank are back from the machine shop. 30 over on the bore and 10 over on the crank. Heads are next. Purchased 910 springs, heavier pushrods. Want to boost it to 400 - 450 on the hp. Confused on a cam though? I’m thinking only a stage 1 cam, as I don’t plan on porting the heads. Still have the stock connecting rods, so can’t go more than that and risk snapping one. Hopefully have it back on the road by the first of the year money providing. Take care.

    People always say diesels are so expensive to own, yet i have had tons of diesels and gas trucks over the years and the modern gas vehicles are just as expensive to fix. Compare a rebuild on that 4R100 transmission to a newer half ton 8 or 10 speed transmission. Compare the parts costs on any diesel to the new ecoboost ford motor parts, or the 5.0 parts they are usually cheaper.

    • @TurboDrivenAustin
      @TurboDrivenAustin  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m used to a basic, 350 small block Chevy, with a basic 3 speed with overdrive 4L60E, everything was cheap!! Water pump, $400 replaced!! Haha BRAND new built trans? $3800! I guess it’s all perspective!! Good point!

    • @austinr09
      @austinr09 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      PowerStoked yep those days are long gone. One example is these new gas vehicles especially the ones with turbos have cats on the manifold that get plugged up from any kind of misfire or rich condition and it’s 900$ per side to replace them. Dodge darts, Nissan titans etc all known for that exact issue. There’s many other things that are more expensive than diesel parts look at the expensive issues with the eco boost engines. Also the head gaskets are popping on chevys new 6.2 engines and it’s such a bad issue that dealers can’t even get new gaskets for them 6 months out they told me the other day, about a $4500 repair also if it’s not under warranty.

    • @TylerDuysen
      @TylerDuysen 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      difference in years obviously a 20 year old or so vehicle isn't going to cost much as its value is minimal in the eyes of dealerships insurance etc. but that's also the price you pay for dependability on a newer vs old truck most old truck will outlast the new stuff by a long shot

I know the engine is bulletproof, but I really want my truck to last me as long as it possibly can, I don't really need the speed, and I'm worried about how much more wear stage 1.5 injectors will cause, because it seems like you get a pretty significant increase.

      I'm not a fan of intros with graphics and music. But it wasn't too long or self-absorbed, so I'd say well done.
      However, your intro music actually magnifies how awful your actual audio is on the meat of your video, by contrast.

    I’ve owned 1-6.0 and 1-6.4 and those two left me walking. The 6.4 hit 200,000 miles and committed meltdown engine was trash while I was 1150 miles from home 6.0 lost compression at around 225,000 miles and was fixed with around $10,000 in modifications. Got a 5.9l Cummins loved that engine but the truck literally fell apart around me So I picked up a 7.3 l it was sluggish but I put on 153,000 miles without a single issue and what do I do with my trucks ?? I pull campers no larger than 12,000 lbs yes that’s right Not even close to maxing this truck out so I bought a 2nd 7.3l and then modified both of them they both are work trucks nothing special but they both have 450hp 920lb ft torque which isn’t monsters but they both get 16 mpg hwy pulling a load WOW !!! I’ve never gotten this great of fuel mileage before and after putting 300,000 miles on both trucks They are super reliable I’m not gun shy pulling a load from coast to coast and the trucks still look great and the interiors and all the controls like ac/heat , cruise control all work fantastic without a single problem my trucks both have over 500,000 miles and not a single problem exhaust gases getting too hot after 13 hour work days

I’ve honestly got no mechanical knowledge… especially diesel. It has 180k miles . I don’t want to get over charged at mechanic…. Just wondering what’s your opinion on what I’ve explained. Try owning a 12v cummins that has 11 years of sitting and it randomly develops a miss or a 2000 7.3 that vibrates randomly at a certain mph and the speedometer doesn't work and all the fuses and sensors are new or good and the cummins is looking like its gonna be a lovely injection pump sized price at this point those are my current biggest pains in my ass although I have a old idi 7.3 dually with a canned tranny and hard starting issues sitting there just waiting for my wallet too.
