Thanks for the video. This answers some questions on why my '02 7.3 seems to be so sluggish (used to own a 02 5.9L Cummins). Glad to hear theres alternatives
Sluggishness and fuel economy are my tow big disappointments in comparison, but I still liked the truck enough to take it with me from Idaho back to Alaska. Got her for the low price, glad I did. Been a big diesel fan ever since I was a kid around all the big diesel construction equipment they owned then.

The 6.0 is a great truck. If you got a 7.3 you'll notice a decrease in power but with mods and a tuner it makes the 7.3 come alive. I had a 6.0 and now have two 7.3 and love them but I also really liked my 6.0.
just ordered mine for the obs in a .84. stock turbo has had a long life of 338k miles so it’s worn out. i don’t care much for max boost numbers, i’m in it for the fast spool-i hardly make more than 10psi anyways and it’s plenty fast for me. paired with a 6.0 intercooler and cnc fab hpop, this thing hopefully will be a blast !
Well it sounded okay. I have one going in mine tomorrow. I also have 5inch Diamond eye exhaust, Cold air box and 180cc injectors from full force. Hope it does what I want. thanks for the effort.
How have you liked the 180cc and the turbo combo in your truck? I’m due for injectors mine are 4 gallons of oil in 500 miles so I figure time to upgrade was thinking of those two together with the hydra?
@@Lonewolf23-26 there great with my extreme deisel tune but.... make sure you have a exhaust temperature gauge installed . Keep it under 1,300 degrees for sure. Do some research. ✌👊😎🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲🛻

Had a 2000 F350 Dually but it wasn’t 4 x 4 I had to sell it when I moved to Colorado and I’m searching for another one to buy hopefully mostly rust free underneath.

Another good vid! How much boost are you making with new turb? You didn't tell us about tour 0-60 time after your jaunt !?! I'm running a Wicked wheel 2 with 4" down pipe, straight 4" exhaust, and and old SuperChip tuner. I can barely hear a whistle at idle and at full throttle it's not bad at all. I can easily pull 30 psi boost, but I use a DieselSite waste gate controller to keep it down to 26 psi. I want to enjoy the drive, but I also want to protect my cherry 2000 F250. My next uprade will be the Andrenaline HPOP, but I'm still condsidering the KC turb.
On my stock sticks, the turbo has no issue hitting 30PSI!!! And I didn’t do a 0-60 because the pavement was wet!! Hahaha
I am getting ready to go the same route good video ! I’m goin kc300x and 250/80 injectors head studs with retune php hydra .

Not raining on anyone’s parade, but I’m just going to say it. If you want performance out of your 7.3. Save your money, skip KC turbos and do the T4. They are not even close when it comes to performance. KC’s are easy and cheap. They are good for what they are. But if your debating the 2. GET THE T4!!!

Nice! I know the video is a bit old, but I just did a 300x stage 2 and am quite happy. I did the FRX at the same time using the black spring and the setup towed much better than my previous GTP38(ATS,WW2,high flow outlet,turbosmart WG). I have tried two well known custom tune(s) but am thinking I will try jelli? Any advice?

I put the same turbo in my 01 f350, it had a built trans, intake, exhaust and custom tunes. I had stock injectors so I wasn’t pushing the turbo hard. The compressor housing exploded behind the compressor wheel causing my motor to run away. I was driving under normal conditions in rush hour traffic.... I like the idea of a ball bearing turbo but after my experience probably wouldn’t go back with a KC turbo.

If you want to tow with the Turbo, especially any significant weight, the .84 version will give you lower EGT's, at towing speeds. The 1.0 housing does better only above 3,000RPM's. Not somewhere your going to be towing, most probably.

Powerstoked love watching your videos. Would you feel comfortable with the 7.3 as tow rig for cross country moving? I am active duty. Wanting to get a truck to use when I PCS again here.
I would trust it for sure!! Bring an extra CPS sensor just in case and you’re set my friend
Tyler, i am active duty and have been pcs'ing three times with a 7.3 and love it, it handles my 16klb loaded fifth wheel great! I do however suggest a trans cooler for the 6.0, a custom valve body from John woods and a hydra chip.
Did you or does your 7.3 have head studs? Solid video, thinking if getting this turbo, I have so far done 4inch turbo back, injectors, intake, hydra, and a adrenaline HPOP and have a wicked wheel in my stock turbo but figured this would help way more than the WW2 does.
It will help way more then the WW2! I have not head studded my truck! It’s on my list to do for sure!!

@powerstoked Are you using an Axle dump? Looked like it from the auto start. I’m planning on a 4”MBRP on my stock Gt38 with currently a 3” down pipe on the V clamp. Would the 4” clamp on without leaking?.
I ran my 4” Diamond eye on the stock GT38 with no leak issues!
Did you change your up pipes too with it ?
Did you move back the wheel lining to fit the tire so you don’t rub when turning ?

Hey man new to the diesel game, have an 01 ECLB 7.3 and mine has some blue smoke on startup when it’s cold overnight like yours. Is it anything to be concerned about?
It could be an injector O-ring going bad, just keep an eye on it!!!

Im about to order one myself. I was going to go with the KC balanced DIY assembly kit for my stock turbo then realized this turbo is only about $500 more. What do you think i should do? I definitely want to hear the whistle and want more power.

Man! When I got my 300x they didn’t have the different stages. But according to price, mine was the equivalent of the stage 3.
I got the 1.0 AR housing and the 63/73 option for the inlet and outlet housings

The stage 2 worked pretty good with my stock injectors and the Hydra, and really woke up with the new injectors!
@@TurboDrivenAustin I'm running a TS 6 position which is more than enough for me at the moment til I do bigger injectors. I'm running a Big intake filter, 4 inch down pipe to 5 inch to 7 inch stacks. I don't tow but I think im going with the .84 since I rarely see over 3k rpm. Occasionally if I floor it but spend way more time under 3k. And if I do floor it from a stop I'll get some sick pickup lol. Idk me and decisions don't go well together haha

I’ve heard that these stock engines and turbos defuel past 25 pounds of boost. What does that mean?
So what that means is when the truck hits 25psi, the truck throws an “overboost” code and cuts fuel to protect the truck. If you get a tuner like the PHP Hydra, it acts as a “boost fooler” and prevents that overboost code from ever happening!

Honestly I have no idea, I’ve only ever had the factory GT38 Turbo, and now this!! But I can say with confidence, the 300x won’t let you down, it’s been unreal how awesome it’s been for the old 7.3!

From my understanding the Powermax is a 10 blade wheel, and the KC is a 13 blade. Which means a quicker spool up!!
Doing a turbo on a 7.3 is like a 30 minute job... i had to do orings and then a turbo ... y this turbo vs gtp38r?

This particular one won’t, it’s for the SD trucks 99-03 7.3. BUT! They do have turbos for your truck and you can still use my discount!!

Mine are stock injectors! They’re website will tell you minimum injector requirements as well as how maxed out you can go on them!

@@TurboDrivenAustin its the php tuner, they gave me 15 different tunes. It definitly woke the truck up, and i need to do some transmission work because it doesnt know how to shift right with the added power. It will spool up to about 10psi and ill hear that ear piercing whistle but thats it.
That’s strange.. when I had my KC300X on my stock injectors running the extreme tune I’d hit upper 20’s in boost!
Your wastegate may be prematurely opening?
To combat the wastegate I unhooked the red line that ran to it. It’s still unhooked to this day 😬

The early 99 7.3’s are a little different than late 99 7.3’s!!
Do you have this KC300x in your E99, how do you like it? I can get my stock turbo with WW and tunes up to 25-27psi.
