I’m thinking of coming from Canada to purchase and live on a sailboat in Greece for a year or more. I’m solo, if I had around 65k euros could I come live there purchase food at markets, cooking on boat, eating out from time to time and explore some of the 6000 islands. Would that be enough money to do this?

65k should be plenty to sail around Greece for a year or more. Just don’t buy too big of a boat or a project boat. Get a 30-34ft boat that is in sailable condition and just have fun. Do have a look at visa requirements if you want to stay that long as a Canadian. And be mindfull of the winters. Depending on where you are in Greece they are cold and stormy. I would suggest starting in the Ionian Sea. In my opinion the easiest area to sail in Greece and the most amount of boats. Have a look in nidri, and Lefkada for used boats. And dive into how to register your boat properly as a Canadian. I would say budget 1000-1500 euro a month for maintenance and living. And spent about 20k on a boat and 10k for fixing and upgrading the boat.
