I love this guy and Im not homo, I love you bro with all my f.. heart.
Big Heart.
Beautiful boat.
What a Legend!
In 1985 I chose comfort across the Atlantic with 21 feet , worked well but felt small. Got another boat to go again in a couple years, still 21 feet though.
Well Shit... I'm a paragliding instructor with the same urge to sail... It's funny how paragliders/rope access workers always end up in the ocean at some point <3 See ya there in spirit someday brother
whats shaking " jack"?

Ridiculous price.
Got to really want that when you could have an Oyster 495 😳. If you must have alu, then the French make some that just look better layout for high latitude sailing. So I’m struggling to see what this boat is for. Like the classic looks but not that much!
NO SKEG FOR THE RUDDER ? ORCAS WELCOME ...
Lovely boat, but for the money, I'd buy something else.
Fantastic! I'll take 2.
Congratulations. , crossing the Atlantic ocean.Greetingd from Brazil
Thanks Hugo, for your visit and for this video! See you at the water ;)
how to sail at night? when they sleeping? i can understand if there 2-3 persons on the boat - you can change watchers, but if you go solo when and how to sleep?
The boat is either on autopilot or steered by the windvane. The captain then sleeps between 20 minutes and 4 hours depending on conditions. I go more into detail on that in this video. 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮
Very pretty boat but I'm extremely disappointed with the second 'cabin' it's just a glorified quarter berth, 2 cabin only on a 46' boat but 2 heads, I'd really like to see the technical spaces, engine bay etc. Obviously beautifully crafted and very much in keeping with the tradition of great Dutch steel/aluminium boat building and the fit and finish is exemplary, but this boat seems small inside with very limited accommodations, I've got a steel Van De Stadt 34' which has a full beam aft owners cabin, admittedly only one head, forward in the v berth, which I use as my sail locker and wet compartment, but can be converted into a double berth if required, my galley is bigger that this boat's and I can convert my port side L shaped setee into another double berth with an infill cushion, full size nav station and ample storage and hanging lockers, 380L fresh water in 2 midships tanks and 220L diesel in 2 tanks port and stbd below aft berth, technical compartment, battery banks behind auxiliary diesel which can be fully exposed up to shaft seal, OK I single hand my boat so don't miss the v berth but have more than adequate storage, refrigeration and sleeping berths. 10.4 m vs 14m and marginally less beam at 3.45m also fully insulated. This is a beautiful boat but it doesn't make sense to me
Thanks for your elaborate comment! The interiors of the Hutting yachts are fully customisable so owners can create something that fits their needs the best. This owner chose to go for a forward head and separate shower cabin and an additional head in the stern for guests. These heads are also very reasonably sized so that takes up quite a bit of space. For a full time live aboard setup for a cruising couple this would probably not be the optimal setup but for this owner it fits his needs of longer trips and often with friends. Hence the quarter berth set up so his friends don't have to "share" a bed. Compared to more modern designs which put interior volume as the first design principle there is less space off course. The width is not taken all the way to the stern and it doesn't have a vertical bow. But Hutting yachts can built you anything you want! It sounds like you have a great compact cruiser yourself! van de stadt makes some really nice cruising boats in all sizes! Another great dutch designer of seaworthy yachts!
Warum ist der Sprecher computergeneriert? Ich kann das nicht mehr hören und schalte sofort ab.
I think you put the Audio into auto dubbed German? The video is in English but TH-cam has a new feature where they autodub videos.
Hoi Hugo, bedankt voor deze leuke show van deze Hutting 46 wat een ruimte aanboord verbaasd mij altijd weer,
Hutting makes gorgeous yachts. I’m curious what the thickness of their hulls are. There doesn’t seem to be much storage for long term living aboard, but overall a gorgeous yacht. I’ve been looking at their brokerage :)
Hull thickness is as follows: Plate thickness hull 1st skin plate from keel 8mm, 2nd skin plate from keel 7mm other skin plating and transom 6 mm. If you are interested in a pre owned classic yacht definitely get in contact with their brokerage!
@ I didn’t realize their hulls were thinner than those on the Alubat and Allures and Garcia. Still, those Hutting interiors are just breathtaking. So classic. I am going to check it out again and see if I can get more details.
They have a full document with details and built story on their website. Go check it out, the link is in the description 👌
Nice boat, would of liked to see more of the technical areas.
Unfortunately I didn't get to film much of the technical compartment. I will try and focus more on that in future videos!
you LIVED every ones dream!! Very Kool
Hi. Great video. Well done on your crossing I bet you must be feeling very pleased with yourself What type of boat do you have
Outstanding group of videos, keep up the great work! Congratulations, what an epic adventure and achievement!!!
Thanks so much, I’m glad you enjoyed the journey!
Sorry, your explanation is wrong. An electric motor has way, way more torque than a diesel for the same size or weight. The current issue with electric propulsion is still cost and the market is not mature. Future will be hybrid (separate generator), and eventually, when energy density improves significantly, purely electric. A battery density of 1000Wh per kg will be more than enough to completely ditch the generator. Problem is, we dont have better than 500Wh per kg, and those are expensive. Cheap batteries are at 280Wh per kg. So we need to improve energy density by a factor of 4 to be able to ditch the generator. As an example, with 1000W/kg, this would mean 200kg of batteries could give you 40h of motoring at 5.5 to 6kn on a 40ft. Those 200kg will be offset because you dont need to carry fuel neither fuel tank, exhaust tubes, etc. I think even 400kg on a 40ft would be doable, which would give you 80h of motoring.
thanks! informative for small boat sailing and first timers great common sense ideas
I'm glad you found the video helpful!
Great videos, keep it up!
Thank you, I'm glad you enjoy them!
Congrats
Thank you!
Congrats. Would you be able to make content about cruising brazil? Why do so many cruisers drop below Grenada for hurricane season but we never see content about the coast of Brazil?
Did you a support ship following you?
Wow. 🥰
I don't remember Neptune looking so funky... ;-) Welcome to the club, Hugo!
Haha, have to make do with what is onboard 😅
Hope the little bat made ok...looked not much fresh air to breath in that small container..best luck amigo
He flew away in the evening once I arrived in Rio. So hopefully he made it out okay. Not a bad environment to start a new life 😅
Great vlog!! It makes me itchy to go, but I’ll have to finish my 24ft Shark first 😬 Hope you‘ll have enough time to get to know Rio, it‘s such a massive place. Should go and find Sambas (music and dancing in the streets)
I loved the laid-back way you shared this dream trip; the videos are amazing! 🏝 One question I had was about the planning: was the trip schedule strictly planned, or did it end up being more flexible with room for unexpected changes? And the wind window, was it really calculated to align with ideal conditions, or was it more a stroke of luck? During the trip, was there any moment when you realized the initial planning had flaws or that you could have done something differently? How did you overcome that? And when it comes to equipment, whether wind gear or otherwise, was it perfect for what you needed, or did you notice something could have been better? Is there anything you’d recommend bringing or avoiding? Finally, do you have any idea when you plan to return to this destination? And will the return include Madeira again, like this time?
Glad you enjoyed the videos! I will get to your questions in the next video 👌
Bem vindo a minha cidade ❤
Obregado
I really enjoyed sailing with you! Such a calm, quiet, peaceful Captain. Congratulations.
Thank you so much! Glad you enjoyed the journey. I’ve heard I come over as a calm and in control captain. Thanks for the compliment!
Great video, enjoy watching, wanted to know what type of boat you are sailing.... looks like my sailboat a Jeanneau 36i. Please tell. thanks and congratulations
Thanks! It is a Jeanneau sun legende 41 from 1986. So you where close 😉 I will give a tour in the next video.
Welcome to Brazil
Obregado!
I regretted my comment. Too hasty.
Waking up to weather is always exciting...lol. Trick is knowing its coming. Had a knock down in a class40 last year. watched power tools fly out of a cubby hole and drop straight down to the cubby hole on port side...lol. missing my head ... Solo sailing is not for the timid.
Sounds like you had a pretty rough time, a knockdown is nothing to mess around with! Would love to sail a class40 once. That speed must be exhilarating
@@Boatlifeisbest Yeah very nice boat to sail. I saw 21.5knts at one point. Now im looking at a trimaran. hehe.
Trimarans are very cool. Too bad they provide the least amount of interior space off all boat designs. But if you are after performance that’s the way to go!
@@Boatlifeisbest yeah Im hoping the int space is compensated by a shorter voyage..lol/
One catamaran sailor explained to me. You can go trimaran, get there even quicker but then that means you have more time at your destination spending even longer in the smaller space 😅 that’s why he went for a performance cat.
Welcome man!
Thanks! It's good to be here!
Congrats Hugo. Very nice job. Hope you can have a great time here in Rio. But be careful, as you know, it's a very big (and beatiful) city but social and economical differences bring unsafe places you should avoid. Be alert and have fun.
Thanks for the advice, I will be sure to be mindful. First impressions have been really nice and welcoming!
