- My instrumental "take" on The Story by Brandi Carlile.
The Story featured on the second album by folk rock singer Brandi Carlile, and was released on April 3, 2007. The album peaked at #58 in the Billboard 200 on May 5, 2007. The Story was produced by T-Bone Burnett and recorded over eleven days on two-inch audio tape in The Warehouse Studios in Vancouver, British Columbia. The album also features the guitarists and songwriters Tim and Phil Hanseroth, drummer Matt Chamberlain, cellist Josh Neumann.
I recently found my "cry baby" pedal in a cupboard and thought i would make use of it on this track.

Geoff has gotten me through a very aggressive form of Breast Cancer. At age 71 I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. I had multiple surgeries and procedures.. My port a cath became infected and I nearly died from sepsis and a 103.8 fever.. After all that the cancer spread and I required a bilateral masectomy and chemo.. I was so sad and scared.. I found a video of his and I was elated.. I would close my eyes and go into my safe place.. I am now in remission and I close my eyes everyday and go into my safe place.. Thank you Geoff.
So heart-warming to know that i helped in some small way dear Lucy. I send you my best wishes and hope things greatly improve for you my friend.

My introduction to Geoffers a few years ago while surfing the internet. I had never heard this tune before and adored it at once. Now I remember why I love an electric guitar when I was a teenager. Geoffers has started me on a journey with his incredible talent. This tune is still at number 4 on my hit parade. This tune is splendid.

Superb - no other word for it. I grew up with Bert, Chet and Hank so despite later growing into Clapton, Beck, Blackmore, Satriani et al, I still love your melody-only style of playing above almost anything else. Wonderful. Inspirational. You can't beat a Strat with a touch of delay and reverb ..... Ahhh memories. Time to get out my Squier Standard I think and hook it up again. Bell rung.
My "go to" guitar is a Squier Alan!
@@geoffers47 Yes. Get a good one and they're brilliant. I have the standard but also the Squier mini Strat which I tune up to ADGCEA. That cures all tuning issues when fitted with 9's.
What gauge do you use for your solos? I currently have 9s on the standard which feel a bit too light, so will probably soon be restrining with 10s or maybe 11s and then amuse myself with all the usual resets for action, intonation etc. I also want to add a couple of springs. (I'm not someone who likes the full-on whammy effect).
In the next few days I intend to cruise your channel. I've already spotted lots of favourites which you have recorded.
