7-25-2021 I love all your music Geoff, but this song has to be my favorite !!!! Touches me every time I hear it !!! Can't help but feel sorry for people, even if it was something that happened long ago !! I get emotional for the people I come across each day that suffer for various undeserved reasons. Guess I'm just an old "softie" !! Larry L.
My take on this is that , the then people in charge have no choice but to get people to settle in Australia. The “normal” people won’t go willingly to Australia in those days, so the authorities have to resort to sending political prisoners. They are not the hardcore “convicts”, a notion that have been popularised in the literature. It’s a hard decision to make to gain such a piece of real estate that is so beautiful and so rich. Looking back the British, of the colonial days, are a people of immense foresight, although I don’t think much of them these days.
Dear Geoff: I am the third of five children in my family. 2 siblings older...2 siblings younger. About 6 months ago my youngest sister developed gallbladder cancer. Gallbladder was removed. Still large tumor in duct. Couldn't remove, dangerous, too large, also next to major blood vessel. Did radiation and chemo. Was OK for a while. About last two or three months she went steadily 'downhill'. She died very early morning of Jan. 13th. Funeral this Tues. 25th. She was 65. She would have turned 66 on Mon. 24th. Hope all is well with you !! P.S. I turn 72 on Thurs. 27th. always thinking of you, and greatly appreciating your friendship and music !!! Larry L.

Deaf Geoff: I hope all is well with you and your family. We celebrate "Thanksgiving" here on Thurs. the 24th. I don't think most people even know what it is about anymore. I was thinking, while listening to this song, that you play a good number of songs that are historically significant, but also show the real feelings and Christian heart of so many people. The joy that is shown in good times, and also the sadness and despair that can come in bad times. God is the only foundation of life and meaning. Such songs are a necessary file of history, truth, home, and belonging. I enjoy old buildings and remnants of homesteads (regardless of country), true and accurate history, and the reminder they give of people that have struggled and survived, trusting God to uphold them. Thanks for the selections that bring this out, and the excellent quality of your musicianship. I am very grateful to have you for a friend !! Note: I greatly appreciate the scenery and buildings that you show in your musical selections !!! They add so much to the "total picture" !!!! God bless you !!! LL
Hi Larry. I try not to get too political, but British history is being re-written by immigrants, that successive governments have been allowing to enter the country. Important buildings and monuments are being defaced on a daily basis. I fear for future generations. I must stop myself there, as this is not really the place to have a rant! So pleased that you enjoy what i do! Best Wishes! Geoff.
